    I need some help

We don't make amplifiers so you'll have to find one on your own. Look around (do a search) on the forum for amplifiers and you'll find quite a few threads that already address your question about what amplifier(s) to use.

    I need some help

All of those specs but "peak" is on our web page. Rated RMS power is 900 on the 12's and 950 on the 15's. Sensitivity is 87 on the 12's and 91 on the 15's. We don't publish peak power ratings because they are pretty much useless. If we did...maybe around 2800/3000 for burps.

    Magnum power!!!!!!

We're putting 307's in kicks (4 speakers), Adire Koda midbass's in the doors using the factory locations to keep the stock look (2 speakers), one Magnum 12 inverted poking out a little between the seats along with two of our 8's on the sides behind the seats. The 8's and 12" will be fiberglased of course and I'll have a switch to where I can choose between the 8's or the 12" for demo purposes. It should be pretty neat when we get done with it.

    Magnum power!!!!!!

Very nice. Hopefully I'll get my modded A600.2 on a Mag 12 in my shoe box of a car. Here's a pic of my new ride. The car is dirty in the pic, but you can get an idea. And one last thing, 9 speakers are going in the cab of it...not the trunk...but the cab.

took delivery of my shiny new magnum!

If it's tuned to 32, don't expect much more below tuning frequency. A bigger box tuned lower would make a big difference. What's your new enclosure going to be like, both tuning and size?

Bull****! I got a ticket today.

If you roll by a cop and look at them the wrong way they'll write you a ticket over here.

took delivery of my shiny new magnum!

I wouldn't shove a full 1000 watts to it (not a 1000 watt amp, I'm talking about actual power) upon its first signal, but after an hour or so of playing time it will be good-to-go. I break all of the speakers in a little bit just to make sure they'll withstand the torture before they're shipped out. They're not totally broken in, but it's better than me not doing anything to them.

    Two 15's, 12cuft, 25hz in a Dakota

Sweetness. Definately get those pics up soon. ...that is, pics of the speakers, not you...unless you want to show the forum just how sexy you are.

    The Lemon's INTER-JOHN

If all things are kept the same, when you soften a suspension (make it more compliant) you lower Qes, Qts, and Fs, and you raise Vas. Very small changes, like a surround, can lower Qe's and raise Vas's enough to make a substantial difference. Making loudspeakers is tricky stuff. On the note of raising Qe's (opposite of above), think about it this way - if your motor is capable of a Qts of .30 and you have a TIGHT suspension, that suspension is going to fight that motor from doing its job - AKA raising Qe's into the .4's or so. Vas is raised because of a more compliant suspension, which also lowers Fs...as does adding mass. But adding mass reduces the overall efficiency. There, is that sufficient Clarke?

    strapped down enclosure

Nope. If it moves around, then yes, you will hear a difference because it won't be shifting in your trunk anymore.
  11. Electrodynamic

    12 or 15

You could also go sealed, about 2.5 cubic foot, and still have plenty of bass. You don't need a vented box for our 15's at all.

    Interest in pre-ordering 8's?

A pair of 8's cannot/will not replace a 12" unit, period. The 8's would need about 50 mm of excursion in order to do so. If you don't have enough bass from a single 12, dual 8's aren't going to solve your problem.
  13. Electrodynamic

    TL boxes?

The enclosure(s) would be HUGE and be so low tuned that the bass would end up being tubby because of the over-abundance of low-frequency information compared to the rest of the audio spectrum.

    mag 15 pored for SQ

In a home, yes. In a car you have transfer function which accentuates the bottom end making a nice flat response.

    How much for a Re-Cone???

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. It's $150 for a recone. If you burnt up the driver from too much power, you are our first customer to do so. We'll take a look at it when we get it and go from there. Email me about your situation. And for future reference (this goes to everyone) - email me about situations like this. If you are inquiring about your particular speaker, email me. Publically posting my response isn't something I like to do.

    Interest in pre-ordering 8's?

What Clarke said. They will do both subwoofer and midbass dusy. I think I already said that...nope, I guess not. They will be a subwoofer that just happens to sound incredibly good up in the midbass/lower voal range. It it literally a dual-purpose driver. We are going to be calling them subwoofers, not midbass drivers.

    mag 15 pored for SQ

If you're listening to the sub in a car, go sealed for the flattest response.

    mag 12 box

Covering the walls with fibergals resin will only aid in sealing the box if it's not already sealed. FB resin does nothing to effectively increase box volume. If you don't line the walls with insulation, at least put polyfil (pillow stuffing) inside.

    Interest in pre-ordering 8's?

If everything works out OK, your psychic friend's price was too high. But keep in mind these will not be 8" Magnum's. We'll call them something else if they come out (hopefully they will).

    12 old claw basket displacement

.07 cubes, or just call it .1 cube to be sure. Period. This should go in the FAQ thread whenever it gets started.

In a businessman's head...there is NEVER enough interest... Exactly. Just wait though. These things take time.

    post your stories

I'll tell you all about IASCA finals two years ago when we took my sisters car down there (black '02 Sunfire - the first official demo vehicle). We paid for a 10x20 booth space with AC power, a banner, etc. We barely squoze (is that how you spell it) her car in that 10x20 along with a table to put up the Magnum, flyers, and business cards. Anyway, we had a lot of people sit in there and ask us "you said you have two 12's right?" That was the most common response. The other most popular comment was "that's ported...it's got to be with only 600 watts." And I absolutely loved it when people would ask anything about the box, how many subs, how much power, etc, and I would pull down the rear seat and show them the 1.4 cube sealed box it was sitting in with a Hifonics Z600 sitting on top of the enclosure with 8 awg power wire feeding the amp. When they saw the tiny power wire, small box, and single sub, everyone said "wow." We did that install to prove a point - that you won't need 1000 watts on a single 12 to have great sounding, loud, accurate bass. Not only was it a 600 watt amp, but it was being fed with 8 awg power and ground wire so it was more like 450-500 watts at best. And then there's the time at the WV meet where I took a Magnum fresh out of the box from the build house and plugged it into a wall 5 times. That was cool. I sold the sub too - it was in perfect working condition.

    The Lemon's INTER-JOHN

About cone / surround material: http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=57893 I'm going to get reamed for it, but that's the way it is. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Ah, gotcha. I'll be looking forward to the emails about the 8's, 12's, 15's, and anything else!

    mag 12 box

Yes yes and yes. The combination of fiberglas lined walls (the home insulation type, not fiberglas mat/cloth) and polyfil stuffed enclosures is hard to beat when you are trying to increase effective enclosure size. The difference between 0.8 and 1 cube though? Minimal. AKA: non-audible. I would still line the walls with fiberglas and stuff the rest with poly. But then again...what do I know?
