Apparently the reps have gotten my last newsletter...so why no replies?
-
I admit that I know nothing on a daily basis.
-
Yep, he's right, and he does have them. There are other companies making them as well but they're not 4 Ohm. And Mag 12's don't weigh 40 lbs...they weigh 32 lbs when you get down to it Jordan.

FINALLY! Someone sees me for what I really am. B)

Yes, do come listen. Rectangular solid core wire is where it's at. It's teh hotness (and yes, I mis-spelled "the" on purpose).
-
I'm telling ya, it makes a difference. Nick Morgan is running it in his Toyota, I'm running it, Hollis's car will be re-done in it once we start on it again, etc. Just send me a few bucks and I'll get you a sample in the mail. Everyone that we've performed an A/B test on has heard a difference.

Thanks to the two people who have replied.

On a Honda? With no boost? How often do you head that happening? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, it's called de-turding a car that you bought used. When I'm done with it there will virtually be nothing stock on the car. The wiring has been gutted and re-done, the deadening has been done, the stereo has been re-done (it was a total joke), and now the engine is being remotely gone through. I'll rebuild it for all-motor soon, however. 225 hp on pump gas on a car that weighs 2500 lbs is pretty good. PS: Whenever we start making money you may see me in a 300+ hp AWD or RWD car. It all depends. I love American muscle, but unless gas prices come down I'll be running a fwd car (or a Lotus Esprit) getting 25+ mpg and running 13's.

Once again, sweet car! I just found out that my car needs a head gasket, so I'll be putting the performance I was planning on doing on hold for a bit. Very nice car though. Even with the system it'll still smoke almost anything out there that you entcounter daily.

Technically it does matter about port placement (there is also a formula for how far the rear of the port - the part that's in the box - needs to be near the woofer itself), but real-world applications have proven otherwise. SPL-wise, you might actually be a little louder with the port firing through the arm rest. I've seen a lot of installs showing porting through the cab and leaving the subs in the trunk...but most of those are bandpass enclosures. The only thing I'm worried about is how "off" the overall sound will be since you will be suffocating the woofer and leaving the port free (i.e., woofer in trunk and port in cab). But time aligning the woofers output with the ports output is always easier if you just place the port on the same plane as the woofer. Think about it this way, how many SPL vehicles have their ports firing backwards? I know this is not the same application, but if you're going after just overall loudness and you want the lower end of the spectrum amplified then porting through the armrest will get you the results you want.
-
Depends on the installation. One one side of the coin, you are correct. On the other side, they obviously haven't heard even a decent sound system...let alone a good one...and even then, a hi-fi system. People need to be shown what's out there or their misconception of what's good will remain constantly skewed.
-
And the survey says, YOU WIN! You are correct sir. You can do the port through the arm rest, but it won't sound as good as it would with the port and the driver on the same plane...especially since one is actually firing into the cab and the other is firing into the trunk.

Steve, you do realize that you have two speaker / box designers less than 5 minutes away from you (me and Jake), right? All you had to do was call and we could have helped with the design. No trunk space, but lots of bass...my kind of guy.
-
Cool. I'm glad you like it. If I could fit a 15 in my car I'd do it instead of a 12...but a 15" inbetween the seats of a del Sol won't be too comfortable.

SI 12" sub vs. SX, OV2, Lethal injection
Electrodynamic replied to joshp's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
When I said the numbers would show all, I meant that if they were put in the SPL lanes it would show what the drivers were capable of...nothing more. On the note of sending you a 12, I don't have any left. We got completely robbed, not just partially. If you wanted to pay for shipping both ways and I had one laying around I would definately send it to you. -
SI 12" sub vs. SX, OV2, Lethal injection

Their speakers look good. They must be good. But seriously, typical TC build. But I suppose the numbers show all. -
Hey now, those "in the know" know that my legs are the sexiest part. Damned sexy! And oh yeah Ryan, can you give me another call sometime later on in the evening? And we need to be able to say b i t c h on this forum. I mean honestly..."female dog"?!

SI 12" sub vs. SX, OV2, Lethal injection

You know, I was wondering if someone was ever going to notice those things. Better gas mileage, improved idle, all are by-products of a lifestyle obsession of the Maggie. -
Power handling is cut in half if you only use one coil. We might supply a little more information when the new drivers come out, but the basket and coil size are going to remain the same so power handling will be pretty much dead-on what it is rated at now. For instance, 600 watts from a JBL 1200 on one coil will make the coil smell bad and turn black with repeated heavy use (AKA: about to blow). Thankfully I got to the customer before he continued only using one coil and corrected the problem by hooking up both coils.

Yes, things have been a bit slow in here lately. The new proto should be here soon. It's gonna be perdy.

Building a SI comp truck, need some ?'s answered
Electrodynamic replied to afboy143's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Haha, heck yeah those are good things to do for a couple dB's. After we did that you gained a solid 1.3795 dB's at ... pretty much any frequency. OK, maybe not that exact number, but you did hit the 156 after we did that. -
From our official release date(which has yet to be released), no. We are Stereo Integrity, not just another internet company.
