25 would be good.

4 cubes tuned low will do just fine for that driver in an HT setup.
-
HA! You have been replied to Ryan. It is official now that Ryan will have the rarest Mag in existence once the new ones come in.
-
What he said. They are completely different drivers. An old Magnum compared to the Mag's ... yeah, totally different.
-
Ah yes, that email. I'll will make some calls and reply back to you. Thanks for reminding me about that Ryan.

Be careful with posts like this. Read the forum rules please. Just give us a little time (more than a few hours ) to respond to you.

new here, but its a small world
Electrodynamic replied to Upstage Audio's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
From what's happened in the past, no one is ever seeing that. I did find it odd that when you called it was same area code. I just answered "hey" because I thought it was one of my friends trying to call the business line. -
12" Mag: Overall Diameter: 12.5" Cutout Diameter: 11" (cut on the line if using a jigsaw) Overall Mounting Depth: 6 3/4" Basket Depth: 3.5" Magnet Diameter: 7.5" Magnet Hights: 3/4" per slug Backplate Depth: 1.5"

The end of this next month is when they are slated to arrive...let alone be shipped out. And none of this is even official yet.

A driver/topic that is WAY off topic.

So, which company has been using TC driver??
Electrodynamic replied to Reza's topic in SoundSplinter
Hrm...can't edit my reply on this forum. Anyway, we used to use TC. -
Now that the 15 is back, I need to put the Aura in storage and listen to our 15 some more. Not to mention when the actual production drivers hit, because the proto has issues.

Pics of my legs might be a ways off. 'don't want to get people too excited you know. And I'm glad you guys like the dust cap art. I gave the go-ahead as soon as I opened the box.
-
I know this is way too little way too late, but if you would have kept tabs on the forum you would have known. After-all, there's a reason this forum is linked so heavily on our web site.

SQ-wise: any song from: Imaginary Day, Pat Metheny group. Eye of the Beholder, Chic Corea. Espionage - Spies (black CD casing) Flight of the Cosmic Hippo, Bella Fleck. Thirteenth Step, A Perfect Circle - track 11 in particular. If any of you SQ guys do not own the first three CD's I listed, go out and buy them right now. I'm serious.

What the new dustcap will look like:

I'm sure that posting on this may just continue the bickering, but oh well. LMT is neat while looking at the BL "curve" from a driver equipped with it, but Nick is right about its downfalls...and even then he only listed a FEW of many. Some that he didn't mention are the huge gap required and lack of windings in the gap at rest (hence the low BL). IMO, XBL^2 is a much more efficient technology all the way around (loudspeaker efficiency, and cost-efficiency).

Vented enclosure was too small, and you're talking about MIDbass out of a SUBwoofer. That 15 requires 3 cubes minimum vented. Kent's review was done with that he had on hand, which wasn't exactly optimum for this driver. Take it for what you will, but it was not a 100% working driver either.
-
I got the proto 12 back today. I didn't expect to see it come back with 3 scratches/chunks out of the surround, but oh well. I guess it'll just have to be inverted.
-
The longer and longer I'm into car audio I find that most people don't have, but need, a great midbass setup. Hell, I've got two 8's in a friends car and it isn't enough, I've got two Koda's and they aren't enough, etc. However, the systems without midbass drivers ... well, it baffles me how people get by like that. Having good midbass makes or breaks systems. But sub bass sure is fun!

any word from the 12 or 15 demo ring???

New 12"(SI D2) vs old 12"(SI Mag)
Electrodynamic replied to TheHammer's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
What Jake said. The motor is totally new, re-vamped, but does not necessarily take less power to get the same results. Power handling is the same and overall output at moderate levels is the same...except the low-end. The low-end of the new drivers is better along with maintaining the SQ associated with the previous versions. And as Damian posted, the "huge" surround isn't really larger in the grand scheme of things compared to the last surround we used. Every single material is better than the previous versions. The web page illustrates it well I think. The cone is stronger, coil is taller (not by much), peak excursion has risen, Xmax will stay the same, the spiders are better, voice coil leads move power to the coil more efficiently and will last longer than the previous wound-in leads, and the glue joints are going to hold up really really well. The only thing that got "smaller" were the magnets, and that's because there was no need for a 3'rd slug or a different thickness/diameter of magnet to get the desired results. All of this is explained, or at least listed, on the 12" web page though. -
He does.
