Yeah. ...and yeah Ryan. That's crazy. I'm glad it worked out though!
-
I would play it at a low-ish volume for about a half hour before cranking it. ...but what do I know?
-
Cool car BTW.

The Tara Labs entry wire is well above the Stinger Dream Series or Dayton wire. ...I'll put it to you guys this way - I ran Tributaries 12 gauge speaker wire for about 6 months until I heard the Tara Labs 16 gauge wire and now I have about 50' of Tributaries wire laying around not being used. I don't like bad mouthing any product like this, but Tributaries is crap compared to the Omni Tara Labs. Tara Labs Omni speaker wire is $1.75 per foot. swc204, it all depends on what you want to upgrade. You'll need RCA's to go from your receiver to your amp, and speaker wire to go from your amp to your sub and also wire to go from your receiver to your speakers. You'd be a great candidate to demo a speaker wire and put it on one channel of your receiver and leave your current wire on the other channel.
-
RCA or speaker cables?
-
Speaker wire and RCA's are two completely different things. TL Omni speaker wire retails for $1.50/foot. Definitely worth the money...especially compared to the typical crap that is on the net.
-
Online and Tara Labs don't mix. Let me know what you want and I'll get you prices.
-
I work part-time for a dealer of Tara Labs.
-
Yep. 'Got her all packaged and ready to be shipped out to you tomorrow. Want come cable with it?
-
I guess I need to take a full excursion video.
-
If anyone wants to demo the speaker cable, all you have to do is pay for shipping both ways. I'll send out a 10' piece of Omni speaker cable for those who want to put it on one channel of their system and try it out. Maybe start a cable demo ring?

Tara Labs' big thing is their rectangular solid core construction. See, they own their own copper mine and they form/melt/whatever their copper using a rectangular pattern (not the stranded crap that everyone else uses) that helps with bass response and midrange clarity. The Prism 100a is still a great cable, although it is technically Tara Labs bottom of the line and it retails for $30 for a 4m pair. The Prism 300a's are $45 for a 4m pair, and the entry Spectrum 1A's are $90 for a 4m pair. Bumping up to the Spectrum's is well worth it.

Just figure up the measurements yourself. Multiply your height, width, and depth and then divide by 1728. That will give you cubic feet. Mess around with measurements to see what you can come up with that's closest to 2.5 cubes.
-
Silver's been out for a while...if gold comes out, I won't be surprised. Read on Tara Labs' web site about their wire, it's all explained there - rectangular solid core, their insulation, etc.
-
You could do that or just tell him 2.5 cubes. If he can't figure it out then you don't need to have a box built by him.
-
That's just funny. 'care to buy a 6' run and listen to it? All you have to do is listen...not bash without hearing, but listen. ...and as I've said before, I've been in your shoes before!! And as Damian posted, this is all moot. Come over to listen to the difference in cable blind-folded and then we'll post on here about whether or not cable makes a difference.
-
Even then, ask Jake about that. He was Mr. Negativity on the speaker wire thing and he changed his mind after I demo'd a pair for him. ...and I was just giving an example of what most people say. I never mis-quoted you on anything. Anything I quoted from you...you said. ...although I do see where you're getting that from now - I didn't mean it in that way. Again, just a normal response that some people say about cable/RCA's.
-
Keep in mind that 2.5 is for a 15. A 12 will do just fine in 1.5. I seriously doubt they only sell 1.5 cubed 15" enclosures.
-
Ask Jake about "not even going to go there" and SQ with cables. I was once standing in your same shoes until I heard the difference. Saying cables don't make a difference is like saying a speaker is a speaker - they all do the same thing. Until you sit down and hear a cable vs. another cable on the same system (i.e., a good cable vs. a normal cable) don't say that a cable is just a cable. Another analogy is "an amp is an amp." I knew this was going to come to this thread and I find it quite funny. It's interesting to see such biast views on cable when most people who bash cable have yet to hear a really good pair of speaker wires or interconnects. As I said before, I have been there, done that. I bashed high-end cable with the best of them. "It's science." (Anchorman plug) Science has proved that there is no difference in cable...so that should be it, right? Wrong.

What the RMS for the 12"mag and peak??
Electrodynamic replied to krazie's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Glad to see I'm not the only one who was wondering why he'd want to laugh. -
Should be, give me a call Jake. MSRP is ~$180 for each 12' run. The "Y"s are ~$50 each. These are also the top of their regular line. Their high end cables are INSANELY expensive. http://www.taralabs.com/home.asp
-
Exactly. The new Mag's upper end response is very accurate and very tight, while still having the ability to play stupid low.

What the RMS for the 12"mag and peak??
Electrodynamic replied to krazie's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Like Ryan said, 1.5k is just un-neccessary...but you can do it if you want. We do not cover burnt coils, so turning it up full bore (if his amp can actually do 3k on his electrical system) for an hour at a time is not a good idea. I'm putting 1.6k per driver in our demo car, but it's totally overkill. Just for demo purposes / showing off basically. -

Electrodynamic replied to krazie's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
900 rms on the 12, 950 rms on the 15. We do not publish peak figures. -
COOL! Good movement ... esp. 250 watts and sealed!
