Just because someone enjoys their system doesn't constitute horrible grammar in an attempt to bash someone. Unless I'm totally alone here, the phrase "Your is a piece of crap" makes no sense at all. Defying physics isn't necessary to break joints on cars - it happens all the time. A lot of rattles that are present after the installation of subwoofers are a direct result of something being shaken apart. At least that's how most of mine have come up. As to welds and such...I suppose it depends on the build of the car. BTW: As most of you know and can tell by this thread, our subs aren't indestructable. ...especially one's that were built 4 years ago.

16 Hz?! COOL! I can't stand rap but I'll have to try that out on the Maggies sometime.
-
The claw Magnum's vc's can come close to "jumping" the gap, but at that point you've already bottomed out the suspension (the claw's are suspension limited). And on that note, that is one of the reasons we switched to our new soft parts - reliability. I have already emailed NickRuby about getting his Magnum's reconed with new soft parts while trying to keep his original "Magnum" dustcaps.

Haha, gotcha! 3 cubes it is!
-
2.5 will do just fine. Stuff it with about 2 pounds of polyfil and you'll have an enclosure that is close to 3 cubes as seen by the woofer. Even 3 cubes stuffed vs. 2.5 stuffed wouldn't make that much of a difference down low. If you don't absolutely NEED 3 cubic feet, go with 2.5 stuffed, you'll be fine.
-
Who said anything about a large box? 2.5 sealed for a 15" is pretty small IMO.
-
Speaking of Dave's setup I need to see what needs to be done to get a Mag in his Magnum. And as for my "golden ears" - the difference was VERY noticeable. Anyone who knows SQ in the least could tell the difference even blindfolded.
-
A 12 to a 15 will be noticeably different for sure. Like you said in your post, a sealed box for a 15 will still be smaller than a dual 12" enclosure...but not by much. If the smaller profile of a 15" enclosure fits the bill then I say it's a no-brainer.

No smaller than 3.5 cubes. If you end up with 3.3 or so because you can't squeeze any more volume after the port(s) and driver are accounted for don't sweat it too much but like Ryan said - I would do everything you can to keep it near 3.5 cubes.

Wire Ring listening results
Electrodynamic replied to Electrodynamic's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
You can hold onto it for a little while longer but I would like to be kept informed of what is happening with it. I know that people have joked around with me about my system and how it would sound bad if it weren't for the "magic wire" but I assure you that it would definitely sound different in a bad way. But I don't need to justify my use of this wire - the performance speaks for itself. It's some good ish if I re-wire my last two cars, my HT, the internals of the Esprit line arrays, and every decent home system I install. -
Cool! Jake has a forum too! As some of you know I am currently running a SAX100.2 in my car which has officially replaced my XX Olympus due to how much better the SAX sounds over the XX amplifier. However, the 100.2 is going to be replaced yet again in the near future with a 4 channel version.

Wire Ring listening results
Electrodynamic replied to Electrodynamic's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Well the wire got sent to at least 3 other people and none of those people have replied to this thread and the wire was never sent back to me. ...'makes me think twice about doing another demo ring. -
All of our Mag's both new and old are suitable for IB. However, running IB is a lot of work...mainly sealing off your trunk from your cab.

The end of next month should be when the BM's arrive so I'm going to be working on the BM's web pages and such this weekend and next week. I'll hopefully have the web site updated by middle or late next week so keep your eyes peeled.

The BM's will be 10's and 12's. And yes, Sundown Audio amplifiers are top notch. I'm running SA's 2 channel class A/B in my Integra right now and I really really like it. -
'eh, Chad is just flexing his muscles about the dual inverted new Mag's. Josh, your Camaro still sounds and looks great. BTW: Did you take the equipment out of it yet? If not, let me know and I'll drive down and rip it out before your dad sells it all for $300.

All of our Mag's (new and old) are dual 2 Ohm. Series or parallel, your choice.

U.K. SPL results - I did good!!
Electrodynamic replied to Mega Heavy Bass's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Awesome! Thanks for posting the results and thanks for posting the videos of your car, which are quite insane. -
I'll take you up on that challenge. SI has contributed to a lot of 150+ members with one of those being a single 12. 2 rl-s 12's being louder than 3 SI Mag 12's with equal power, enclosures, and vehicle? Like I said, I'm game.

I went up to the Shelor Motor Mall competition in VA today to both compete and drop off a couple 12's to Chad today. When I first got there I was A) late and B) driving a completely dirty car which didn't make me feel too good. I got settled in and went up to sign up for SPL but found it was only a few dollars more to compete in both SPL and SQ so I signed up for both anticipating me getting my ass kicked in SQ. Luckily Nick M. found a guy that worked at the car dealer for me and I got to wash my car for free - YAY!!! Getting the 'teggy all jazzed up made me feel like I just took a bath. So anyway, I was good-to-go after that. I went through the SPL lanes at first with the $hitty-ass bass CD that only had 30, 40, 50, and 60 Hz on it. I played 50 Hz on the dash and did a 139. Crappy. The second time I went through I did a little test and tune with Chad and found out that 63 Hz was my peak (even though 55 Hz hurts you) and I burped it again at full tilt and did a 143.7 in the kick. And while I'm thinking about it - I got put in modified because my damned battery was in front of my b-pillar by an inch. The next time I go to a show I'm going to put my battery on top of my back seat so it's not in front of the b-pillar. Anyway, I took home 1'st place in SQ and 2'nd place in modified SPL. I got beat in the SPL lanes by a guy with a wall and 6 power bass 12's. He did a 145/6 or something like that. ...and I just ate a heaping plate of spaghetti so I'm going to do a tripple s.

Sweeeeeet. Is he going to be at the show on the 28'th?
-
If that's the show on the 28'th, count me in. I hope they have SQ. If not, oh well, I'll just have to bring down a small bit of thunder with the two sealed Mag's.

Wow, I would have loved to have heard that! I would have probably opened my stupid sponsored mouth and said something like "will it make me want to have your baby?"
