crunch ground pounder 3000 pro vs ap3000d vs AQX-3500.1
PHATBOi replied to kryptonitewhite's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well, just found out the remote knob on the DSC2000.1D is a bass boost knob. I don't like that. I would rather it be a true remote gain control, which the AQ has along with the convnient clipping light. So, my mind has been made up, I am going to spend my money right the first time and go with the AQ. I think you would be wise to do the same. I personally like the fact that you deal first hand with the owner of the company who stands behind his products, and not some marketing department or 1-800-MY-ISH-BROKE hotline that probably connects you to somewhere in India. I have went the cheaper route and dealt with the regret in the long run to many times. Car audio is like prostitutes, you get what you pay for! -
MB Quart DSC2000.1D Bass Knob?
PHATBOi replied to PHATBOi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Answered my own question thanks. DISCUS Amps -- Bass Equalization The DSC Series Bass EQ shapes low-frequencies with up to 12dB of equalization @ 45Hz to compensate for the problem inherent in reproducing large amounts of bass in the small confines of a vehicle. This bass equalization control can be remotely operated thru the Remote Bass Control on mono-block Discus amplifiers. Will not be using it then. No bass boost for me, LOL. -
MB Quart DSC2000.1D Bass Knob?
PHATBOi posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Does anyone know if it is a true remote gain control or just a bass boost? Also if it is a true gain control, will the actual gain on the amp supersede the remote knob? By this I mean no matter how high I crank the remote knob, it will not go past the gain setting on the amp, correct? -
MB Quart DSC2000.1D Bass Knob?
PHATBOi replied to PHATBOi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
This is what I thought, I am asking because if it is a bass boost I don't want to use it. Just checking to see if someone has experience with this amp and would know which one it has. -

Believe me, I know how hard it can be to make a decision when it comes to this stuff, but seriously, I would go for the AQ3500D! This amp has been proven by the owner of a competing company to do over it's rated power and have quality parts. Maybe not as good as the almighty Sundown, but in a watt to dollar comparison (the Sundowns are underrated!) it holds its own. The Crunch GP3000-Pro is a proven champ also. As far as Maxxsonics, I believe the MB Quart DSC Class D line, the Crunch GP3000D-Pro, GPV3000D, and the higher end HiFonics lines (not the Brutus) all do rated power and are quality products. I am going with the MB Quart DSC2000.1D because I have heard from alot of people it does rated+ at 14.4 and $275 shipped fits into my budget alot better than the AQ2200D will when it returns to regular price (I wont have my money till then, LOL). Just my $.02. -
Ok, I have decided I would probably be better off listening to people who know more than me (go figure). So, I did the math and everyone was right (go figure) the 20ah batt just won't cut it. I figure I need atleast 50ah to take up the slack from my alt and Yellow Top. I am looking at the Shuriken SK-BT60. Does this sound about right?
-
A little outside of my budget at this time. When I get around to doing the half wall with a second DSC2K and the DSC4125 I am going to remove the A/C and add a HO alt dedicated to the audio system. Will be some XS batts thrown in the mix as well. For now, with the 2K, I am confident the Yellow Top and Shuriken should do fine. I'm not trying to push the amp for all it has and I hear the HDC's have a pretty high imp rise. PS Thanks for the good words and a digital camera is on the income tax list as well, so plenty of pics and vids for the forthcoming build log.

Wow, I have been dyin to get a peek inside this car since I first seen it on the AQ website a couple months ago! Thanks for the chance. Excellent craftsmanship on the install. Beautiful setup. Wish I could sacrifice the space (and $$$$) for something like that. With three kids and one car it isn't going to happen LOL. So just one of each for me!

Three main ones, here (obviously), ROE, and FloridaSPL. There are a few others I have joined just to read a thread but don't post on. I have found that I frequent SSA most often. The main contributor's on this site are very knowledgable and willing to help. I too have posted the same thread on a few forums and recieved not only the most help but the most informed input from SSA. I will often sift through old threads and have found that alot of the questions I want answered have been asked and answered before. This saves from wasting everyone's time with questions that have already been answered. I also like the fact that SSA includes forums for alot of the major manufacturers where I can post a question and most likely get an answer from someone in that company, if not the owner himself. It almost feels like I get a chance to talk to a celebrity, LOL. I don't know if this is off topic, but I just wanted a chance to say thank you to SSA and all the members for giving me a place to educate myself and help others out a little on the way. Thanks everyone.

X2, I can tell you from personal experience that these people are here to help you, but honestly, they are not going to do the work for you. EDUCATE yourself to the best of your ability (google.com is your friend). Then if you still have a serious question that you just can't figure out on your own post it here and most will be glad to help. The information you are looking for can be easily found on the internet. Take some initiative and try to learn something. Just my $.02. -
hifonics 1600 2,000
PHATBOi replied to vial's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I think for what you are going to be using it for the BXi2010D would be a good fit. Hifonics has gotten a bad rap in the past because their amps haven't always lived up to the specs. Personally, I feel aside from the Audiopipe AP15001D and the AP30001D, the Hifonics Brutus line is the best budget amp around. Also, new 2010 line is supposed to have upgraded Class D circuitry and do damn close to if not rated power. You can get a BXi2010D here: http://vminnovations.com/product_1272/HIFONICS_BRUTUS_BXi2010D_2000W_Mono_Amplifier.html for $256.95 shipped. That is the lowest price I have found on them. Good luck. PS: Might want to consider the AP15001D here: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AUDIOPIPE-1500W-MONO-Car-Audio-Amplifier-Amp-Sub_W0QQitemZ220409768991QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Amplifiers?hash=item3351722c1f for $159.00 shipped. Same company, they just have some different stock on egay for some reason. This amp would be a PERFECT fit for your setup, and has been proven to rated or damn near numerous times (amp tests done on various forums, just do a google search). Well, hope this helps and let us know what you decide. -
Wondering what kind of power 1 of these could see daily. I know it states 1000RMS, but knowing how well built these are (and the fact that Jacob has burped them with as much as 4500RMS) wanted to know a realistic daily figure. Thanks.

Looking for thoughts on specs. I don't know a lot about T/S parameters and all, so looking for some insight. Leaving out brand and model for unbiased opinions. I found this on ebay, it says it is refurbished. Is this a rip-off? http://cgi.ebay.com/US-AMPS-XT4000D-4000-WATT-MONO-CAR-STEREO-AMPLIFIER-AMP_W0QQitemZ350243439264QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Amplifiers?hash=item518c22c2a0

You have been all over the place with equipment from here and there, lets take a step back before you just keep throwing more and more equipment at us. What are your goals, your budget on amp, speakers, front stage, electrical upgrades, etc? I wouldnt get a sub with those T/S Parameters. Thanks jay-cee, you are right, I'm kinda going crazy all over the place tryin to make everything fit into my budget and the whole time the quality of product is getting worse and worse. I am going to slow down and concentrate on obtaining one piece at a time so I can maintain the integrity of the overall system. No sense in putting good money with a bad product, just to have to spend more money later to replace it with what I should have bought in the first place. Thanks to all for your patience.

LOL, no it's not the driver listed in my sig, but another that I am considering.

The RXD2400 isn't listed on their website, so I assume it is older. Do you know anything about them? -

PHATBOi replied to PHATBOi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have most everything leftover from my previous setup. Yellow Top under the hood with Big 3 done in 2gauge welding cable and 0 CWG run to the trunk. I plan on building the box myself and I will be looking to spend $500 to $600 for amp and one 12. -

I like their speakers, but don't have experience with their amps. So you think the CADENCE DAYTONA DCW-12RVC 12" is a good buy? Ever used one? -

What about Cadence? I have read some good things about them. Maybe a CADENCE ZRS-C2 here http://www.audiosavings.com/products/NEW-CADENCE-ZRS-C2-COMPETITION-3200w-2-CHAN-AMPLIFIER.g603b80f8-da92-462b-bea0-821d492735ea.r.aspx -

PHATBOi replied to PHATBOi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Me and a buddy of mine did an install with one of the RXD2400 powering a solo X 12" rated at 2500watts rms all running off an optima in the front and a kinetik 2400 in the back. big 3 done in 1/0 and install done with 1/0 cable. clamped the amp and only got about 2000 watts out at 1ohm. the amp is rated at 2400 watts at 1ohm. I live in houston and planet audio is one of the lower end brands they sell in flea markets. In that price range i would go with a hifonics brutus BXI2006D. I have experience with the brutus line and they put out more than what they are rated at. Actaully that is my other option, just didn't list it to keep the thread simple. Thanks for the input. -

Just save up your money and get a reliable amp that has good customer service and does rated power and more. What are you looking for in an amplifier? What will it power? I'm sort of still undecided. I am trying to get the most I can from the trunk out of a ported enclosure with a single 12. I was looking at the CADENCE DAYTONA DCW-12RVC 12" here http://www.audiosavings.com/products/product-details.aspx?item_guid=0f684393-78b3-456f-9bff-bc6dca4d02dc or the RE AUDIO MX12D2 12" here http://www.audiosavings.com/products/RE-AUDIO-MX12D2-MX12-D2-MX-12-3000w-CAR-SUBWOOFER-SUB.gf7a612ac-c86c-4d89-84cf-a7d4e35c688a.r.aspx Or do you think I would be better off just sticking with the AQ setup AQ HDC3-12 and AQ1200d? Was just thinking I could get more bang for my buck LOL. -
Apologies, I guess I am being a little impatient.
