Finding the right amp for a odd ohm load
PHATBOi replied to Aurelios's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
AQ1200D: http://www.audioque.com/aq/?page_id=26 Wired at .86 would be your best bet. Should take it no problem. Or if you really want to save some cash and still have a solid amp with a 1 year warranty, either of these would run at .86 as welll: AP15001D: http://vminnovations.com/product_4093/Audiopipe_AP15001D_1500W_Mono_D_Amplifier.html AP10001D: http://vminnovations.com/product_5568/AUDIOPIPE_AP10001D_1000W_MONO_Power_Amplifier.html -
Thank you. I own an 03 Mazda Protege ES and when I get ready to do some serious deadening (and not the single layer of fatmat I have in my doors now, lol) I now have a reference guid to work with. Thanks. I love these cars, always wanted a hatch to play with. Car looks great, can't wait to see the audio install.

Pretty much anything by DJ Solo. I would like to thank Mark LFTN for turning me on to this very talented artist and dubstep in general. I stopped listening to electronic music a few years back and back then it was all Florida Breaks or nothing. I am really digin this newer genre of music as I just can't stand to listen to the same recycled garbage on the radio anymore. So thanks Mark! http://djsoloisawesome.com/

Most of us are into to all around sound and great lows instead of just getting loud. Don't get me wrong AQ subs are tanks that take a ton of power and put up amazing numbers, but just seem to lack in the sq department. We like to get loud, but still sound good doing it.

will an audiopipe ap3000 see 1ohm
PHATBOi replied to bdogg81's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
No. If you can find an old case grey one and have the electrical to support it then maybe. The new black ones have a beefier protection circuit that trips below 2 ohms bridged. Now obviously you can run 1 ohm per channel stereo for 1500 x 2 @ 1 ohm per channel, but as far as 3000 x 1 bridged it must be 2 ohms. Hope this helps. -
hifonics 2600 on a btl fully loaded
PHATBOi replied to bdogg81's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical

This may be off topic, but could an SA-15 still hit decent lows in a box 2.8^3 tuned at 36Hz? I see you recomend tuning at 35Hz was just curious how low it got tuned that high. Alot of people claim that the AQ subs can still get low at that tuning but I have yet to hear it personally, they always sound kinda hollow. That box would work fine for an SA-15. Honestly... the AQ / DD design philosophy isn't targeted at super low bass. Extension to 40 Hz should be no issue but expect output to diminish under -- not to say they won't reproduce low bass but a softer driver will do it better. Thanks Jacob. I really appreciate how you take time out to answer questions for us.

PHATBOi replied to mustangsub's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Definately the NS if you want SPL. Your in B-Town? You should come to the Tampa Show on the 12th. University Mall Firestone Store off Fowler Ave. -
I would say grab a set of these: http://www.crescendoaudio.com/product.php?productid=17514&cat=0&page=0&featured=Y and a set of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270572879734&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=21c03d6f1280a0265387a847ffff3197&rvr_id=133107488695&ua=%3F*I8&itemid=270572879734 Would sound a hell of alot better than any 6x9's imo. And the CCX65's are only $100 shipped. I love mine, they sound great and take the 320 rms I'm throwin at them no sweat. Get loud and sound great doing it.

More cone area and more power usually = louder, but everything is install dependent. And btw you could get an AP30001D for $310 shipped if you did the 2 15's. Be a hell of alot cheaper than that HiFonics. I think if you did a good enclosureand got a D1 fully loade BTL 18 and put it on the AP30001D it would be brutal and be the cheapest option. Just my $.02. http://vminnovations.com/product_2382/AUDIOPIPE_Mono_Class_D_3000W_Amplifier.html

This http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-PK0 And This http://vminnovations.com/product_5568/AUDIOPIPE_AP10001D_1000W_MONO_Power_Amplifier.html about $250 -
Do work bro! Can't wait to see the finished product. You Texas boys do some nice builds!

Supposedly the 2010 models are CEA certified. Decent budget amps for sure, but just cost more than I'm willing to spend for a low end amp. If you want a solid budget amp that does rated power look into the Audiopipe AP series amps. They have class d amps in a variety of power levels. AP4001D AP8001D AP10001D AP15001D (I use this one and love it!) AP18001D AP30001D (which is actually 2 AP15001Ds strapped internally, basically a 2 channel amp that does 1500 x 2 at 1 ohm stereo or 3000 x 1 at 2 ohms bridged) Check here for pricing (authorized internet dealer = legit manufacturer warranty) http://vminnovations.com/Browse_68/Amplifiers.html?sort=&show=12&page=1&manuf=114 Hope this helps.
