Eh just a Hifonics HFi100.2 someone linked to above. I was in my budget and I'm sure it will do fine for the front stage.

Currently in my car I have a pair of Alpine SPR-13Ss (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-13s/), and I also have an 18" SSD @ 32hz in a 9cuft box. The SSD is extremely loud, and depending on the song, tends to drown out my fronts. So I was looking at trying to run some pro audio so I can get a clear and loud front stage that can be heard over my sub. I was reading some threads, and saw these tweets: Selenium ST350 Super Tweeter I'm sure they will more than outperform my current tweeters. I was also looking at this midbass: Selenium 10PW3-SLF 10" Driver The only problem with 10" midbass is making custom pods for my doors. I have never done anything like that, and would be clueless as how to go about it ? It might be a better idea to go with 8" midbass, just to be space conscious. I still haven't decided on that yet. I was also wondering, if I do get a 10 or 8 for midbass, should i keep my current 5.25" in their stock locations, or will they be drowned out ?

Just ordered an amp for my front stage. I was waiting on my paycheck until now. Also ordered some wire too from Knu. They ship to my house in about 1-2 days since im in ohio. Hopefully i can get rid of the distortion that happens with certain songs at high volume.

lol I plan to, but i just don't know what amp to run. Anyone got recommendations ? you keeping the type R's? got this one for temp.... http://www.millionbuy.com/hihfse400wa2.html It's a 2 channel as i dont have a rear stage....... Neither do i, and that has plenty of power. Looks like it will work perfect for now. I'm keeping them to see how they do on an amp. If I don't like the performance i will go bigger.

What amp you running them off of ?
-
Sounds easy enough. And yea I plan to soon here. I was looking at some sundowns, but still haven't decided on an amp yet.
-
Not at the moment, and I know it does. I still want to run something bigger though, because these seriously lack bass and distort easily because of it. Upgrading to something bigger will help a lot. That does sound like a better idea. Wouldn't it be possible to just have a slightly bigger hole for my door then ? Instead of going through the trouble of fiberglassing. The depth of the 6W4P would fit fine in my car.

Test tones, Sliding Tones, Pink Noise, all lossless for DL
hatrix replied to sandt38's topic in General Audio
That is entertaining. Clearly you don't know what you are talking about. Reduction of the information down to 192 is a reduction of 7:1. Nobody can honestly believe that there is a ratio even close to 7:1 of information that you cannot hear in any recording. Try reading up on the subject. That's why i said >192. I deal with lossy and lossless formats all the time. Audible differences between 320 and FLAC are usually minimal, and sometimes there isn't any audible difference. It would be more commen in music to hear audible differences since it deals with lots of frequencies. In this case, your dealing with a single frequency. Like I said before, if you can hear an audible difference, or even SEE one for that matter, give me a call. I guarantee there will be no difference playing the lossy vs lossless tones. -

When music is compressed, most the information lost isn't audible to the human ear (as long as we are talking >192kbps). Compression removes unnecessary parts of the spectrum in sound. You must not know exactly what you are talking about. These lossless test tones are going to be EXACTLY the same as 320 (constant or v0) compressed test tones. If you can hear an audible difference, then you got some pretty amazing ears. -
Well, I got held up again. Had some money problems and the speakers had to wait. I ordered them yesterday though. They won't be here until Wednesday though. So nothing will be happening until then, as I don't have money for much else. I am looking into a Sundown SAZ-1200d though, as Db-r electronics has them on sale (the v1) for $160 refurbished, which is a fantastic deal.

This is going to be a little slow, as money isn't something I have a lot. But, it will be finished in time. Also, this is my first build, so any input, whether it be negative or positive, is appreciated What I have so far: -18" Fi SSD d2 w/ copper coil -Box for SSD -Pioneer DEH-2100IB What I need to buy: -SA SAZ-1000D -Still have yet to decide on fronts -Kolossus Flex 0 Gauge Power Amp Kit -40 CLD tiles and 1-2 sheets CCF I really haven't accomplished much so far. I have had the sub and a box built for the sub for months now, and it has just been playing in my room. Now that I finally have a car that I can put it in, the build starts. My front driver side speaker was blown, so I took it out today since it was making a horrible noise: Kind of a bitch to get this into the car: The space for the box: The car itself, which is in excellent condition:

I own an SSD 18" with the copper coil option (now stock). Some pics: Box its in (which is in my room right now, playing away until i get my amp for the car): Actually need to do some work on my box again. I have had it for a long time, and as of lately, its almost tearing itself apart. I need to add some bracing.
-
Thanks guys Got held back on ordering my fronts until tomorrow But they will come in time.
-
Updating this, nothing big but something to post. I'm buying my fronts on Wednesday hopefully, as I get paid that day. Alpine SPR-13S 5.25" components. Read some good things about them, and they fit my budget. I haven't actually heard them in person, but I'm taking the chance anyways, as there are virtually no car audio shops around me. I'll have to figure out mounting for tweeters, and someplace in the door for the crossovers.

Whats that song in the beginning ? And nice numbers.

So I was wondering what is the best way to secure an enclosure in a car ? Preferably not permanent, but so it can't be stolen or so it won't slide around. It's a 9cuft box, and its going in the back of my Jeep Cherokee.
-
Yea it would for sure be a problem if it was sliding around lol.
-
Yea I was recommended those by someone else. Might go with those. Straight bolts might be easier though.

15'' BL fully loaded suddenly acts weird, please read

lol. Well I'm glad there are companies like Fi and Sundown Audio. Unfortunately when you have to use those "other brands", things can happen I guess. -

See, now that scares me. My friend is going to let me borrow his amp for a little, he says its 3000 watts, but knowing him its probably rated a little lower, and its also most likely some shitty company that made the amp. 3000 watts is way to much power for my SSD, and if the SSF isn't set right because of a cheap amp, then thats even more of a problem. -
That's a bit warm.

Is it possible that I can choose this theme for the rest of the forum ? I like the colors more than any of the other themes.

What is so hard to understand about the name ? People seem to lack basic English skills.
