Be safe out there everyone. A small town just a few miles from us got hit hard this past weekend, and two tornados from that storm passed just a few miles south of us.

Ssa DCON cone and rubber surround broke...options?
Dan208 replied to Scheibler's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Shipping shouldn't be outrageous. I've shipped heavier subs than the Dcon for around $20. -
You won't be disappointed. I'm running a single Dcon and it is insane for a $115 sub. I would think that they'd build them both at the same time since they are going to the same place.

I'll be keeping my eyes on this. Sorry if I missed it, but do you have enclosure size recommendations yet?

The Iron Gym, a few kettlebells and the floor make up my gym.

My wife got me this for my birthday last year: http://www.amazon.com/Iron-Total-Upper-Body-Workout/dp/B001EJMS6K It works great, but I don't know how much weight it would hold (I'm only around 160).

How much power would I lose?
Dan208 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm looking at possibly running three 4 ohm subs, which would give me a 1.34 ohm load (of course, you all know this already ). How much power would I lose if using an amp that does its power at 1 ohm? -

Dayton Classic. I had thought about that but wasn't sure. I still don't know quite a whole lot about what I'm doing and don't want to fry a bunch of equipment trying to learn. -

The problem is that all the amps I'm finding within my budget do either too much or too little power for the subs I'm looking at using. Edit: I'm looking at Audiopipe amps. -
I have nothing but respect for EMS personnel. I was an EMT for about 5 years and it's not for everyone, that's for sure. Saw a lot of crap that I'd just rather forget about.

Check out Parts Express for some cheap 8's. I'm actually looking at the Daytons and Tang Bands right now for my summer project (might go with 10's though). www.partsexpress.com

I've got a Kenwood HTIB (the 504, I think) that I've had for a number of years. It does the job, but I'd like to play around with it and replace the sub. The only info I can find on it is that it's an 8" sub, has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and the amp does 100 watts at 4 ohms. Does anyone have any idea of what sub might work as a drop in replacement? Or, should I just take a shot in the dark and try something out? I've been looking on Parts Express.

LOL. I've been reading a lot of good things about the Tang Band, and that's the one that I'm leaning towards.

I need to order me some and a hat (so I don't burn my head) for vacation.

I've actually been thinking about using the Titanic in my vehicle this summer. As for the home sub, I want to just swap out the Kenwood sub, using the same enclosure it's in now.

^^This. There a couple of guys that live just down the street and have very loud motorcycles. Every time they take off from the stop sign in front of our house, the windows in the living room sound like they are going to fall out of the wall. It's extremely annoying.

I'll be watching this too. Looks almost exactly like what I need to do. -
can the ssa dcon be wired down to 1 ohm?
Dan208 replied to mustangsub's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
280 watts is plenty of power for a Dcon. -
Computer people: Need some advice.

Yep, it's secure. I had to shut it down the other day and forgot the password when I started it back up. Luckily, I got it right on the first guess. -
I need some help picking programs to use for cleaning and keeping my computer(s) secure. Currently on my computer I use CCleaner, ZoneAlarm firewall, Secunia PSI, Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Microsoft Security Essentials. On my wife's laptop I have Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and CCleaner. Basically, what I need to know is which of these should I keep, which ones should I get rid of and what else, if anything, I should be using? Is freeware ok to use, or should I look for some kind of paid all-in-one service? BTW, I'm pretty computer illiterate (but not totally ).
