I asked him to explain and he hasn't replied back. Not that I care, because I know it's a good sub. I'd just like his "explanation". -
Never heard the Icons, but I heard a wall of 6 SA-12's. Loud as shit and sounded pretty damn good. Dropped stupid low too. I know they are built for different goals, but I don't think you could go wrong either way.

From what I've been reading, using a ported box will give you a 3 db gain in output, as will using a second subwoofer. Right now I'm running a ported Dcon. So, if I were to buy another one, it would pretty much be a waste of money to run them sealed? I should be getting the same amount of output from one ported as I would from two sealed? (Someone should really change the title under my name from "Member" to "Forum idiot". )

Do I have this right? (sealed/ported question)
Dan208 replied to Dan208's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Thanks for all the help, guys. I've got until this summer to decide what I want to do, but I've got so many ideas running through my head. I'd like to try multiple subs (more than two), a 15" (never had a 15" before), etc. I'm still trying to decide how much space I want to give up, and I want to try something different. I need to do some measuring and see if I can fit anything in my spare tire well. -

Thanks. -
They posted up on Facebook that there has been a delay in getting the coils, but they are working to get them ASAP. I think my Dcon took just over a week to build. Edit: It'll be well worth the wait.

I'm still amazed at what this single 10" does on 320 watts. It's a lot louder and lower than any two 12's I've ever had and sounds so much better too. I plan on building a sealed box for it in the next few weeks. I'm just curious as to what it sounds like sealed, plus I want to get some box build experience. -

Right now I have a 10" Dcon (single 4 ohm) running off an RF Prime 500.1. It's rated at 320@4 ohms and 500@2 ohms (birth sheet says it did 521@2). My 4 year old wanted me to put this here. LOL -

That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure before I spent the money on another Dcon. This is my first ported box. After running both, I actually prefer the sound of a sealed box. Not that the ported one sounds bad, though. -
Have an idea. Need to take some measurements. Gonna see if I can cram some subs in my spare tire well.

I thought I'd post this here, since I've noticed that there's quite a few people from both places. My wife and I have been thinking a lot about our future. We currently live in a small town in Kansas. The largest cities are more than 30 minutes away (both of us drive about 45 minutes to work). My wife will be done with school in the next year and a half and is getting into the medical field (the administrative side). I'm currently in school and am strongly considering going into the medical field (most likely radiology or physical therapy). The job outlook around here is decent, but the biggest town we'd work in is less than 130,000 (Topeka, KS). That's where my wife currently works. There's really not a lot to get involved in, and we want our daughter (and any future children) to have a lot more exposure to different things than we were as children. Both of us were born and raised here. Anyway, we're looking at Texas and Arizona for a few reasons. They are warmer than here (not really a good reason, but ). But, the main reason is that I work for Wal-Mart Distribution, and both places have distribution centers that I could transfer to. We've been doing a lot of research lately, and Texas is looking like the most likely choice. It's closer to family and housing/cost of living seems cheaper. The amount of forclosures in Arizona makes me a little nervous, and it's much further from "home". I'm looking for pros and cons to both places. Specifically, we're looking at the Sanger, TX area and the Buckey, AZ area. This would most likely happen in less than 5 years. We're quickly outgrowing our current house, so moving is inevitable within the next few years anyway. What's everyones thoughts?

Doesn't bother me at all. I actually really want to learn Spanish eventually.

I'm doing some research for my summer project and have a question about the amount of subs and power. Same subs and power, just different number of subs (I'm strongly considering Sundown's E8's). The question is, which setup would have more as far as output and low end? Less subs and more power per sub or more subs and less power per sub? Or, is it a situation where things would be pretty much equal (kind of like balancing out because less subs/more power=more subs/less power)?

That's my kind of weather.

Less subs/more power vs more subs/less power?

By all means, be hard on me. Maybe it will help me learn. -
If you need to make some room you can send some of those boxes to me.
