Loud Whining noise/Protect mode...HELP
mdever12 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
guys i need your help. i have a sundown sax-1200d powering 2 sa-12s. lately the amp has been making this high pitch noise as soon as i turn my car on, and after 20 minutes of playing it will go into protect mode and it gets pretty hot. is the amp screwed up or is it something else? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks -
Hey guys, So im gonna be buying a 12" lethal injection and the AQ1200d and i dont know what ohm load i should run it at. 2ohms and it would get 870 rms and at 4 ohms it will get 510 RMS. i have an 04 pontiac grand prix GT and i have the stock alt and battery right now. Thanks for the help!

haha thanks, im pretty sure i want it even louder, so should i get the D4 sub? and im either gonna but a prefab box that has an internal volume of 2.70cubic feet or ill build the optimal box for the 12" SSA ICON which will have a volume of 2.5 cubic feet and port area of 33.80 inches and tuned to 30Hz

Hey guys. I' m going to be buying a new sub in a couple weeks. I can't decide between a 15" DC Level 4 or a 15" Fi Bl. I will be running it off of the AQ1200D. My goal is to get the loudest/hardest bass. Thanks for the input!

Flip a coin, best out of three wins that is how I choose my sub when it came down to the final two. x2, i have heard a BL before and that got loud, but never heard a DC... BUT heard nothing but good things i think im gonna go with the DC and power it with the AQ1200D

Ok I am looking for a sub thats going to get loud and somethng you can feel. I was going to get a 12" BL but i dont really want to worry about upgrading battery/alt yet. So im thinking of the FI SSD 12" or the AA Chaos 12". I'd be running it off the AQ1200d at 2 ohms which will give it about 870rms. I have stock electrical now but I'm willing to do the big 3 upgrade(if i need to ?), and then later in the year i'll get a bigger alt/battery. Thanks Guys.

haha thats what i was thinking...but you think i should be fine with the big 3?

WHats up guys. I'm looking to buy a new sub. I have a 04 pontiac grand prix. I'm looking for a sub thats going to get loud and hit hard. I'm stuck between a fully loaded BL 12" and a AA Havoc 12". I wanted to run it at 1ohm on a AQ1200D. Im also wondering what electrical upgrades im going to need to make. My electrical is all stock now. MY budget for the box, amp, and sub is around $600-$750. Thanks guys!
-
ok. am i going to have to charge the 2nd battery
-
Big 3 wiring, a voltmeter to monitor voltage and a secondary battery to provide power for that AQ1200 amp. The BL sounds like it for you from your sound preferences but the Havoc is a good speaker to (just may come down to a toin coss). any idea on the size of battery? and would a bigger battery up front be ok? thanks.

hey it looks like i can get a 15" sub in my trunk. will there be a big difference between that and the 12"?

hey guys im buying a new system for my 2004 pontiac grand prix. I was thinking about buying 2 10" AA assassins and putting them in a 2.7 cubic feet box(ported) and powering them with the Hifonics BXi 1610D. Do you think that these are going to get loud and hit pretty hard. Or should i go bigger and get a 12" arsenal in a 1.8 cubic ft box powered by the Hifonics BXi 610. Or finally should i get a 12" Chaos in the same 1.8 cubic ft box powered by the Hifonics BXi 1210D. I dont really want to worry about upgrading my electical system now but i am open to suggestions. Thanks.

ok, thanks again man
-
ok and just making sure. im going to wire the sub in series to get it to the 2ohm load(this is my first setup)
-
this box is just a temp. I plan on having a box built to 2.3-2.5cubic ft. So ill just go with the dual 1. Do you know the price of the sub? if not thats fine. Thanks for all your help, when i install this ill make sure to post some pics/vids.

Ok so my final purchase is going to be 1 12" AA chaos in a 1.8 cubic ft, 1 AQ1200D, 1 stinger voltage meter, with a Streetwires 4gauge amp kit. And i want to get the dual1 sub right?

Ok thank! Do you know of any good places to get a box for that chaos 12, and is that hifonics a good amp for it? Im honestly not a fan of Hifonics Amps but some use them with no problems and enjoy them, I would go for an Audioque AQ1200D for that subwoofer (D1 - Dual 1 ohm for a 2 ohm final load) :Audioque: Amps: AQ1200D For about $30 more you can get a Sundown SAZ-1200D for that subwoofer (D2 - Dual 2 ohm for a 1 ohm final load). The options are open for an amp, its up to your budget for one. I'll definitely go for one of those. Will their be a huge difference between the Audioque ans the sundown? and did you mean the Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D?

Hey man. My max budget is 600-750. I want something that will get loud but sound pretty good while doing it.
-
More information would help, such as what your electrical consist of now? I would at least invest in a volt meter and do the Big 3 Wiring so you can monitor your voltage after installing setup to see if you have voltage drops. If you have voltage drops then you will need a secondary battery but if not then you will be ok, but we cant tell you if you will need additional electrical upgrades until you install it. Any sub put in its recommended enclosure will get loud and hit pretty hard (not a good way to describe how you want your system to sound since hitting hard varies by the user). The real question is what is your budget for subs, then we can help you choose what is right for your application. right now i have all stock electrical. I was going to buy a stinger volt meter. I want something with pretty god SQ but something that is ging to turn heads my max budget for sub(s) and the amp is 600-750 but i would be nice to keep it around 500. thanks man

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum so bear with me. I'm looking to pick up 2 10" subs but I'm deciding between two. The first choice would be 2 10" AA assassins. My other choice would be two DD 510Bs. There specs look the same but i don't know which to get. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
