Classes start today, first one in 20minutes. Started a new job today, Civil Engineering Labs, I got to empy the trash while I was there for an hour, thats all I did. Talked with my boss for a little while then a fella came in wanting something made so they talked about that.

A futon in a dorm room is a must...
-
Oh and I'm watching SWAT right now, and it does really fricking good on movies even without a substage. I'm througly impressed with this design for under 500 bucks for the pair of them (keep in mind I didn't have to buy crossover components for the towers, I'm running active crossed over at ~2khz).

Ground loop? I don't want to go back to school tomorrow I'm not sure wtf it is, it could be a ground loop, but in the cable from the xbox to my XLR to RCA cables?? It dosen't show up in my computer hooking up to it, or the cd player hooked up to it so I'm clueless when it comes to this. Could always start plugging things into cheater plugs, if the noise goes away you know it's a loop. Other than that, don't really know what could cause it...I had a nasty hum with the Decware CSP pre, but I found out my power amp was hypersensitive to AC filament hum, ended up selling the pre Whats a cheater plug?? I'm stupid here on this aspect. But Hooking the xbox straight up to the preamp dosen't work, and hooking the xbox up to the tv and then the TV to the pre dosen't work either. Nasty humming either way, but through a computer or CD player works.

Got the towers working, somehow the switch on the back of the crossover that switchs between 3way and 2way got pushed to 3way no idea how though. Got the xbox hooke up but when I hook the audio RCA cables into the system get a loud ass humming noise, any ideas why? Can't imagine where the interference would be comming from.

My towers are starting to agravate me...
-
Everyone thinks I'm crazy already for having what I do have in a dorm.
-
But my tower dip down low enough for me, and with authority too, just ned the inaudible stuff down deep so I think I'm gonna pick up a bass shaker or two for movies only. I'm getting away without a substage for music just fine.
-
I am not building an entire false floor in a dorm, even to me thats overkill
-
I moved all my gear and got my the damn wiring mixed up somehow so the towers are screwey, now I have to go fix the damn thing again.
-
Hmmm, put a 10 cube box in a dorm room already pressed for space, or spend 150 bucks and have some bass shakers... Easy choice (plus I don't have no money for a good amp for a subwooferage setup)
-
While helping people move in I met a fella that was here helping hes brother move in and the guy went to school up in Rhode Island for EE and did alot of pro audio stuff, 'twas pretty cool talking to someone who knew wtf I had for gear He thought it sounded pretty good for what I had.

Hey beat, there are no excetptions to the rule untill I get some more pics of "The Ark"
-
Inestead I have towers that dip down LOW with Authority.
-
I don't have subwooferage.
-
So now I think the next step will be a bass shaker or two in the dorm room... Think a futon will like them??
-
Ok, so I go to radioshack to pick up an adapter, S-Video to RCA so I can use my Computer as the dvd player in my room and just have video out to the TV, I left mine at home. The dude at Radio shack says they don't even exist, and if they did they wouldnt' work... Yet I have one at home and have used it before, wtf?? arseho.
-
None of them in my state either, take 500 miles west and your at colorado springs though. And the dorm system is still amazing, I will try to get pictures up for ya'll tommorow or somethin when we get this pucking mess cleaned up, we did construction today.
-
Got the dorm setup hooked up and running, all I have got to say is Holy chit!!! More pics will come later when I get my computer back up and running. It is just insane.
-
Hmmm, care to include me...
-
I'll just invite them up to my place to listen to a real dorm setup
-
Direct quote from the paper we get (Topeka Capital Journal) "A serous sound system is a must for the perfect party room. Don't waste money (and space) on bulky components. Mini-speakers connecting to your laptop or iPod will do the trick. Now who on gods green earth thought that mini ipod speakers is a serious audio setup?? I think my setup is just stepping into the serious audio setup for dorm, and gonna be insane anyway.

Well, got a couple coats of primer on, I can't say I'm exactly happy with they way they turned out, I shoulda left them without any primer on them, but eh, who cares. My goal for this was a Light tower, yet sturdy and can stand up to parties, I think I've achieved that, each tower is a little over 1/2 a sheet of 3/4" BB ply so it isn't heavy by any means. They should be decently sealed, they probably have about 4 coats of primer on them. I should have used high build primer, but once again, first time painting speakers so eh. (or should have not rounded the edges and got veneer, but thats more expensive than free primer). I painted them with a couple friends (well, a few people were there just cause it was something to do) so I killed a little more time than needed but who cares. I've been up and going since 5:30am today, and now its 1:45am, tis a long day. Pics will come when I get time, probably when I get to school this weekend.
