    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

That nasty one was in the hole they said had a dead injector and they claimed to have scoped the hole, so to me that means pulling the plug, and they just put it back in seeing that nasty thing??

Hey you mechanics, how often do you see plugs like this? Pulled it out of a '00 Explorer 4.0 SOHC engine I did new injectors and plugs on.

Wait, one is supposed to give a crap about the air filter? I just use the stock one, oh maybe take a glance at it once a year and say Yep, still clean.

Intake will have to come off, but it is easy. Sounds good. Thanks!

Ok you ford people. One of my buddies has a 2000 Explorer with the 4.0L and a fuel injector is bad, he had a bad one 2 months ago that he paid a shop to replace and now since another one is out we are just going to replace all 6 of 'em. Is this a PITA job to do or pretty gravy? I know in my 5.0L you have to pull the intake, but on my Cadillac it was easy as heck to get the fuel injectors/rail out. Shop wants 1200$ to do this, sounds way to high to me.

Project on the list for today/tomorrow is pocket doors. 30" wide, 10' tall and go around a I beam for crane access. Including the hanging/adjustment hardware. Should be a blast.

Most commonly use it for cutting up hunks of meat though, loins, roasts, etc.

10's are really unusual, 8's are the defacto standard. Never seen a 10 demo'd outside of the Kitchen Window here in MN and they never come in kits. Most people pick my 10 up and shit...I shit when I pick up the 12. Amazon shows I bought it through them 3 years ago. I think I had bought an 8" local and thought I would like a 10 so I returned it and been pleased ever since. I made a wood covered magnetic knife rack and have a 10", 4 or 5" and a 3" paring knife up there. Pretty much always reach for the 10", the wife reaches for a smaller one.

I also think a 12" would be unwieldy and way to huge.

I've got a 10" and like it. Now my knife skills are rather crappy, but I think an 8" would be to small.

Sharpening I use cardboard wheels on a grinder. I also have a ceramic stick that I try to use on the knives every time, haven't actually 'sharpened' my 10" chefs knife before though.

Have been helping a friend deal with the problem now. We have redone the cooling and every other bandaid. Still just randomly overheats and eats coolant. Look in the valley under the intake. I bet it is full of coolant. It is not open to the crankcase so it will pool in the valley there. That is where they usually leak when the bolts get yanked out of the block. Another common leak point is the crossover on the back of the heads. It is the piece that the water pump is mounted in. It is a motherfucker of a job. The dreaded coolant crossover gasket. I think book time is 10 or 11 hours for 40$ in gaskets. I did mine in front of my inlaws garage in about 10 hours, pain in the ass. If it isn't the coolant crossover, its the head gasket. To fix it properly, drop the engine, pull the heads and stud the block with the SureGrip studs. Mine blew the head gasket at 186k miles, sold it for 400$. I figured it was worth 1,500$ or so running, 600$ for the stud kit and a weekend of labor. Not worth it to me, but mine was a 96.

Got two 10lb hunks of pig on the Egg for pulled pork for lunch. One of my guys graduates today so I told him I'd cook for it. Went on yesterday ~5:30 or so. Smelling good over here.
