I'll say it... Just because someone may have a degree in Electrical Engineering doesn't mean they know squat about designing speakers. *chuckles* Nope, I'm a Junior in EE and there are very few people in this major here at Kansas State University (students, grad students, and professors) who truly know wtf they are doing when it comes to loudspeaker design.

My vote goes for building another pair, but with a bigger driver. Also something that I have discussed is putting another driver (same type, just a second one) in the baffle on a low pass filter to give an extra boost in the low end.

I think Jim and I are the only full range people on here, but what the hell. I'm looking to build a replacement set of speakers to change up my basement setup. I'm currently running QSC pro amps and a pair of Magnepan MG-IIB's, the sub stage will be covered by Mach 5 audio MAW-15's in stereo. I've been listening to my BBBIB's more and more and I'm loving the sound more than my maggies, plus I'm itching to build something knew. I'm leaning heavily on the frugel horn spawns (the Bruce is what I'm looking at), something in the range of an 8" or larger full range setup. I would love to do another BIB, but I feel that my ceilings in the basement are to short for that, I only have roughly 6.5' of height to work with. Lord knows the BBBIB's won't fit down there as much as I'd love to have them there. The main use will be mostly for movies but I will not skimp out for when I get to use them for pure audio bliss. Driver cost I'd like to keep under 100-120 per, and the complexity of the build is a non issue as well. So I'd love to hear some suggestions or idears on what you guys would do. I'm leaning toward the Bruce, but what would you do with my room? As you can see there isn't a whole lot of room to work with, I can't position the setup going the long ways due to the fact there is a door at the end, and a 42" TV + Speakers + Subs does not fit there. So basically, what would you do for a DIY full-range setup? Thanks for any input -Ryan

Well now that one depends on the type of wood . There are some that I prefer to use gorilla glue on , but I'm not usually building any kind of speaker enclosures with those kinds of wood More in reference to the type of wood used in speaker enclosures.

Thanks, but it needs a lot done to it. More clamps, new Incra miter gague, new Incra fence/outfeed table, couple more work benches would be just awsome. I'll post a pic of the drivers when I get them in, but they are the Fostex FE127E's.

Why some people think Gorilla glue is the best kind of glue for wood is also beyond me.

Liquid Nails creates a surface bond, while it will work to hold two pieces of wood together, it is not the right way to do it. Wood glue is the best way to glue two pieces of wood together, other ways will work, but they are sub-par. Some people may do it with liquid nails because they say that they don't have time to go get woodglue or whatnot, I personally don't have the time, nor desire to build it twice.

I hate how people think that Liquid Nails is an acceptable adhesive for building a speaker box.
