I'd like to get back into training for pistol again, but kinda hard when I don't even have a range to shoot at here. I know what I can/need to do without a range, but I enjoy putting lead downrange.

Anything I can. Use to shoot international style pistol a lot, use to be one of the top ranked juniors (sub 21) in the country, hell even set a couple of NRA national records before. Use to dabble a little bit in precision rifle too. I really don't shoot much recently, the school shut down the range couple years ago so I don't have a place to train here at school. Haven't done much shooting recently though.

As long as you don't buy junk, start playing with different loads and see what your gun likes then go from there. I see no reason you shouldn't be able to hit plates at 800yds.

18" probably for a .308. Do NOT get a 16" barrel with a .308, it will be loud as shit and throw a fireball. Gawd I couldn't imagine 16", how far out do you think I would be accurate with 18". lol I saw one guy hit ground hog or some such at 800 yards... dayum How good are you at shooting? If you have a good barrel and a good load 800yds should not a problem at all if you know what you are doing.

Holy shit! I'm getting somewhere with purchasing the new digital front end on this damn turret press. Getting calls back now from sales and tech people and it looks like its moving forward. Now to just get the bids in and go to the dept head and get the money and all that crap. ETA of getting it up and fully functioning again is beginning of spring semester.
