Shit, that's cheaper than tickets I can find to Las Vegas for then... For that price I'd have bought a ticket and left the woman at home.

She kinda laughed at my idea of going to Colorado and touring all the breweries we could... She didn't dismiss it either.

I don't tolerate ignorance, in particular when it is pushy. If the poster can't handle the reality then they can take whatever is necessary to relax their labia's. *chuckle* Awww, Sean is back.

Any ideas for some cheap spring break ideas? The third week in March is our spring break and me and the woman are kinda thinking of a cheap thing to do for at least a couple of days. Anywhere within 600-700 miles of Kansas is driving distance for me.

Still front wheel drive though Fun as hell to drive though, 300hp and the Magneride is a fun trip. He could just replace it He ended up buying me breadsticks when we were out for pizza and thats as good as I'm going to get out of the tight ass.

The roommate was drinking last night and drank all my damn wine, wasn't anything to expensive, it was a Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon, nothing special but it wasn't bad stuff. He was drinking cheapo Carlo Rossi jug wine and ran out, so without asking he just drank the damn bottle that I had. It doesn't burn me that he drank my wine so much as not asking, apologizing, or anything. Just ranting.

Personally I'd rather get a '03 F55 optioned Cadillac Seville STS since it is Z rated, Magneride suspension, etc, etc.

    Screwless Box

Somehow I don't think anyone makes a living building subwoofer boxes. They may make some side money at it (if they are bigger, pretty decent side money at that), but I highly doubt they can crank them out enough to make a good living at it. If you want to look at someone who makes a living making boxes for audio, look at high end home audio companies, they sure don't need screws in their designs and don't use them. Using screws in a box is not a requirement in building a good woofer box. Is it a good way to make a box faster? Sure is, and the higher volume of a product you can make and sell, the more money you are going to get. Do the majority of people wanting woofer boxes know the difference in construction? Not a clue, most of them couldn't build a square box to save their life so it doesn't really matter. Will screws in a box change the sonic signature? No way in hell in a woofer box. Will screws in the joints stop it from breaking just past the glue joint when you are getting ridiculous with the setup? Possibly, (I use that word very cautiously) but if that does solve the problem your box design is flawed anyway. If you are breaking anything just past the glue joint sit down and think this one out. Your material is breaking past the joint, thats the telltale signs of a good joint, ok so you did something right. Now you just have to look at it and realize that your material is not strong enough for its purpose. Now if that means you need to add bracing, go to a thicker material, different material, or a combination of the aforementioned. If you need something stronger than a plain butt joint in wood, there are multiple options to gain you more surface area of glue in a joint. Here are some that come to mind. Biscuits: They are a quick and easy method, work great Rabbet joints: Little more time, works best for smaller items, wouldn't use to much for large items. Miter: A quality tablesaw/fence/sled combo is almost a necessity for this to come out well. For a .75" board you will get ~1" of contact surface on the glue joint. Are screws necessary? No. Do lots of people use them, even 'professionals'? Yes Can you make a quality box with screws or without? Yes Advantages of using screws? Quicker build time is number one right here.

    Screwless Box

Also, for cleaning up glue after you clamp a joint. Wait about 30min or so for it to get tacky/slightly hard and then just scrape it off, works a lot easier than wiping it off while its still wet.

    Screwless Box

Yes you can make a 'screwless' box without to much of a problem. Use a quality woodglue, Titebond II is my choice, elmers wood glue works fine, titebond III works fine as well. Don't use liquid nails, sure it will work, but it is not what its intended for, there are better choices for a glue joint. Period. Yes, I can see some applications where you would want screws in the joints for additional strength past the glue line, but at this point it is just as easy to add internal bracing on the joints and be done with it. A note on clamping and glue. For gluing joints, put the glue on both surfaces that will be bonded together, especially if you are doing end grain. When you clamp, if you don't have glue squeeze out of the joint along the whole line, you either don't have enough glue or enough clamps. If your box breaks just past the joint during normal use, you don't have strong enough material. That is all. If its a single layer MDF box and it breaks just past the joint because you are 'pounding it to hard yo', you should have made it double layer, braced, etc, and what not differently. If it breaks at a joint, you did your joints wrong.
