how much do u get out of sound deadening your box
topgun replied to Lucky 76's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Mats aren't just for metal parts. It is for anything that resonates. Many people use it on their plastic panels. If your box panels are resonating then deadening it will help but bracing will be better for you. If you think that deadeners are useless in speaker boxes then you need to check out hometheatershack.com. Almost everyone has some sort of deadener lined in their boxes even with awesome bracing. I am about to add some egg crate foam to the walls in my home theater box for a less hollow sound because of its size. This is more for the sound than bracing but it is a use of deadener in the box. However, I don't know about raamats though. I have never tried it or heard from someone that has. Stuffing a home audio box with polyfill or lining it with eggcrate isn't for deadening the panels of the enclosure. -
It all depends on what you want and how much money you want to spend.

I can't tell the difference between lossless and 320K mp3s. I get my hearing tested yearly and every year it's great, but I know I miss a lot of detail in movies and music. I also have trouble hearing people if there is background noise, but they don't test for shit like that. Depending on the environment I have a terrible time hearing people when there is background noise.

1500 is a hell of a big budget for some computer speakers.

HU on High Voltage?
topgun replied to buickid's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm guessing your wanting to run your amps and a separate battery bank on 16v? You planning on running a second alternator dedicated to audio? -
The tunes are turned up and the signal lights are barely coming on for my sub amp.... Might help that its a 15 on my CX902 bridged so its not exactly a small sub on a wimpy amp...

Got the laptop hooked up and tunes cranked up.

Ok. I've decided the v4 Mag is going in the Cadillac. Now just to find time to do it, hopefully this next week.

are you pulling stuff apart or squishing together? Tom, no need to be so technical with your wording. I giggled when I read that.
-
You send me 1500 bucks and I'll build you a pair of Fonkens that you can put in a display case if you want to.
-
Something full range like a pair of Fonken's from Planet10 http://www.planet10-hifi.com/fonken.html

are you pulling stuff apart or squishing together? Pulling, the frames are in tension.
-
It sure does, it seems like I take it apart once a week to clean it. I already have a new ear speaker on order though, metal shaving and speakers don't go well together either.
-
The whole metal shaving/dust and magnetic rollers on a trackball just don't seem to go together.

My blackberry would like me a lot better if I didn't work in a metal shop...

I should give units in kmmkg just to confuse the crap out of people....

Yea I know... 60kip sounds more impressive than 30 ton though.
-
It is actually out of the system currently. Going to rebuild the trunk setup and it was in the way... While it was in there I really liked it though, ran a cable up to the front seat so I can control it from my laptop.

Its only rated for 60kip, load it is actually going to be used for? 3kip max.
