    Welcome to the IHoP

I've played with DPMS AR-15's and AR-10's. Definitely fun, but I would go broke shooting them.

I'm not a big fan of Glocks myself, never really shot them. But they are functional, reliable as death and taxes, and they flat out shoot.

I have actually! I would have to shoot one first and it's definatly interesting. From my understanding they are built on the .223 frame not the .308 frame correct? I can't get onto many weapon sites from work, and since the laptop is kaput at home I'm researching less than I would like. Being tied to the tower in the basement is hard for me. I also want a bolt action. I love working the bolt on the 7mm and wanted that feeling. Correct, it is built for the AR15/M16 platform. Part of the problem with the lower is that the magwell isn't long enough for the longer really fun bullets, so that is how they got a 6.5mm bullet to fit in the mags.

I can understand wanting the big arse round for that shear fact of its BIG. Personally I have a hard-on for smaller rounds that are either superduper accurate or travel at warp-fucking-nine (or both). Plus I'm not as big as you, I can shoot big arse rifles, but them things hurt at the end of the day. I do know people who have thrown their backs out, bad, shooting big rifles (custom .50 BMG's) and that doesn't sound to fun to me. Magazine springs are an item that you can leave compressed and it won't hurt them, what actually damages a spring is the cycling of them, not staying in one spot. *Now that is a given that they are properly spec'd out and not a retarded design* If you need a badass handgun, get a Glock 20 (10mm) and send it out to GlockWorx for it to get done up right. Picture of one they just did on a Glock29 Their pricing $165 for the sight cut (CNC machines w/ the sight posts so zero does not shift) $412 for the RMR dual iluminated sight (price seems to fluctuate) $165 Grip job (reduction w/ stipple texture) $250 Fulcrum ultimate trigger $40/hole for the porting

I personally don't own a .22LR. I kind of wish I did, but I know so many guys that do I could always find one to go kill cans or similar. They bring the rifle I bring the ammo and it's a good day. Up untill very recently though I didn't have an area to plink, just actuall ranges that are more structured and targety, and way less old timey plinking fun. Have you ever done the empty cans in a stream plinking? What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How on earth can you not own a .22? They are pretty much the most badass little cartridge ever! You can shoot all day for 20 bucks, cheap rifles, accurate, and can touch things out to 200yrds if you do your part.

Also, have you looked at something like a 6.5 Grendel cartridge in an AR?

Barring your preferance you made before if you were to build a great .338 rifle for under 2k what would you do? :opens mouth waiting for spoon fed goodness: It's really hard to know the quality from the garbage in this industry. The armalite is under 2k. The opposite end is the timberwolf which is ~7k, but it's the tested rifle the guy in the article you linked talking about the .338. I wouldn't buy a .338 Lapua..... I don't know to much about .338 Lapua rifles since I've never really had a desire to build one, but first off if I was you I would start poking around snipershide.com forum and seeing what they have there. I would look pretty hard at the Savage 110 BA though, heard some good things about them and are around the 2k price range. It seems like pretty well put together rifle that is in the range of what you want.

    Welcome to the IHoP

You should be able to put together a excellent rifle for 2k or under, then you need another 800+ in glass on top of it.

I'm not sure Affordable and .338 Lapua should be in the same sentence...

    Welcome to the IHoP

Never heard of them. There are a lot of different places that make good bolt guns, though fewer that make truly exceptional bolt guns. It really all depends on how much your going to use it and how much you want to spend.

Trying to sell my entertainment center on craigslist. Hopefully it sells soon so I don't have to move the damn thing and have an excuse to build revision 3 of that style.

what this time? You have had some bad fucking luck with that car, unbelievable actually. On a similar note, I am spending another fucking $1k on the chevy. It is BY FAR the biggest POS I have ever owned. The second biggest was my last Chev. This is the last GM that will be anywhere near my family if I can help it. A new CTS-V was a front runner until this shit resurfaced as well. FUCK GM SHITSUCKAGE. What went out? Intake manifold gasket, wheel bearing, abs sensor, exhaust manifold bolts?!?!?!, belt tensioner for the air conditioning all this week. On top of that there is a major fuel problem which is hopefully not the fuel pump failing although I think it is. Hopefully the new filter will breath easier and at least let it live until the truck has a new owner. I've spent more on parts for this truck than repairs for any other vehicle I have ever owned. Fucking ridiculous. Wow. We have never had that sort of luck with any GM that we've owned. That was two weeks worth of faults. The thing is a piece of shit. Amusingly I should know better it is par for the course for everyone I know with a mildly modern GM. The list of problem we have had on our '04 3/4ton HD w/ the 6.0L Charcoal evaporation filter on the fuel tank was clogged when we got it Rebuilt the front end since it has had a hard life (ball joints, etc, etc) No spare tire so we had to find a matching wheel to buy Replaced the water pump That is about it for problems we have had with that truck, and we have had it for 3 years now I think and use it like a truck.

And then if I get a rifle built for me and don't put a ring on a finger, I'm going to have to get her a rifle too for her to play with too. Either way it ends up with an empty pocketbook or more hours at work for me.

That .17HMR, for as small of a bullet as it is, will certainly fuck some small critters up though. Badass little round.

    Welcome to the IHoP

An entirely custom 7mm bolt gun build. I don't have 2k+ right now for a rifle so its just hopes and dreams for quite awhile. The CZ I really like, hell of a lot cheaper than a 1911 and I think one can carry it just as easy, it isn't very much thicker than one. With a proper holster its easy to carry and conceal as long as you don't dress like a retard with it. I have an OWB and an IWB holster by Desbiens Gun Leather that work very very well for it. I had a CZ-452 in .17HMR that was a go to rifle for anything less than 250yrds, but sold that to my brother since I wanted something that was more accurate and a slightly bigger bullet. It was a really nice rifle, just want a centerfire. I'm probably going to look into a worked over 700 short action in .243 in the next year or two though. If I spend 1k+ on a rifle before putting a ring on a certain someones finger I might be shot with said rifle though.

Lots of outside rifle in the summer. In the winter, none other than family land. 2000+ feet with with a dirt back where the flat areas end. I admitedly haven't measured but the property spans 11 acres, and from one point I could shoot across most of it the long way. Run a 6mm, 6.5mm, or 7mm bolt gun, a AR in .300 Whisper w/ a can on the front end, and you are golden! what's a can? My AR is in .308 from DPMS. I should take a group pic of all the weapons. Gun pron ftw. What do you shoot/own Ryan, I beleive you like 1911 correct? A can is referring to a Silencer/Suppressor For my .45 I run a CZ-97. Right now it is stripped and in the process of getting rebuilt, shotgun is a 1100 Trap Model, and currently I don't have a rifle that is anything special. My match guns are a TOZ-35M and an Anschutz LP-@, but I haven't shot competitively for a couple of years now and am severely rusty in pistol. I have a slight obsession for stupidly accurate guns, and that doesn't work very well for my checkbook, hence I don't own many.
