  1. hey you gotta learn somewhere. never had car audio brands pushing that much power, just home stereo, so i was just trying to figure out what options were best and from what ive read these are some of the best, just wanting to know opinions of people whove owned them.
  2. so i have decided on the speaker for my new setup, it will be an ssa xcon 18 in a sealed enclosure, but now i need to find an amp to run it. i have been doing a lot of research and have come to see what kind of input i can get from people who may have used this equipment before to steer me in the right direction. i have a limit of about 300 for the amp, i realize this will not get me the best amp to run the sub, but i am ok with this. i have composed a list of the amps within my price and power range, but am open to all suggestions and comments to help me decide on the right amp. thanks for all your help in advance. 3. so i have decided to go with a setup that would have a set of Rainbow 3-way components up front, which i believe would eliminate my need for rear speakers. so the question at hand is, when i remove the rear speakers would i be better off leaving the speaker holes open or closing them up? the car is a 99 Altima, the rear speakers are 6.5" and the setup in the trunk is a SSA XCON 18 in a 5.4 cu ft sealed enclosure.

    eliminating rear speaker aftermath

would it make a difference in opening the hole completely up and leaving the grill and carpet on the rear deck?
  5. lol you guys are funny, nuthugger, ha ha. well it general consensus from everything i been reading says the cadence is gonna be a good choice. not dissing audiopipe, but in my opinion i would be willing to spend towards the top end of my budget to get something that everyone says is solid versus something people generally argue over.

    help with xcon size

i havent been able to find out a measurement on how deep a xcon 18 drops down into an enclosure. the enclosure would have the sub facing up, so i need to find out the length of the sub to help determine how tall the box would need to be. any help would be appreciated.
  7. wafsman

    basic question

what would be the minimum amount of space i need in between the back of the sub and the back of the box in a sealed enclosure?

    help with xcon size

sorry guys been having computer problems. all better now though. so how much room will i need behind the sub to the back of the enclosure? i was planning on sealed.

    help with xcon size

    thank you
  10. So I was doing some research and need some help. I plan to use a box that has the sub facing up and needed to know how tall the box has to be to fit a SSA XCON 18. Can't find info on what the length of the sub is. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
  11. I am needing to upgrade my battery, but would like to know which setup is better since they cost roughly the same amount. First I will be running an American Pro VS-1407 and a Sundown SAE-1200Dv2. I plan to upgrade my starting battery. So would it be better for the car and the stereo to run a Duralast Gold up front and a Kinetik HC800 in the back OR to run only a Kinetik HC1800?
  12. So as you all know I have been getting very mixed information trying to figure out what to do with my subs, my box and all that junk. Well I finally got a response from Bob at American Bass, turns out I am having such trouble finding info cause my speakers are 12 years old, although he says they are very good speakers, so I am still determined to use them with my setup. He informs me that I should run 300 rms to each sub, but once again my trouble is finding the info I need since these are dual 6-ohm speakers. I have been looking at tons of amps, monos, 2-ch, 4-ch bridged, you name it, I just can't make sense of it with the speakers I have, with my options being 3 ohm each or 1.5 ohm together, which no one provides power ratings for at that resistance. My price limit is still 500, but would like to stay in the 300-400 range if possible. If you guys could help me out again it would be greatly appreciated.

will my current box be sufficient enough?

i have emailed them a few times and never got a response back, any ideas?
  14. ok, so i have my subs and i have figured out the amp to power them. now i need to figure out if the box that i have will be sufficient or if i am better off with a different design. the following is as much useful information as i can think of, but if you need anymore just ask. also haven't been able to find detailed specs on the speakers, so i don't know fo, qes, xmax or anything like that, that's why i need your help. haven't found anyone that has that info either, so hopefully you all can still throw me some input. thanks. car: 99 altima subs: pair of 12" american bass vfl1266 amp: rockford t1500 current box: sealed 34x14x14 3/4mdf music: mostly juggalo beats and nu-metal like slipknot, manson, mudvayne, etc empty trunk: 14 cu ft correction! just found the following information if it helps Vas (liter) 142.41 Fs (Hz) 23.06 Qts 0.33

will my current box be sufficient enough?

that is not the sub that i have, will post pics of mine. but if i do still need a ported instead of sealed, based on the rest of my info, what would be a good size and frequency for the box?
  16. so as stated, i'm still trying to figure out the best amp to get for my subs. i am in search of an amp that will push 1500 rms at 1.5 ohms. ignoring price, just curious as to what amps out there will push that power at that resistance. thanks
  17. was trying just to find what was out there, but realistically i would like to stay under 500
  18. that has nothing to do with my post
  19. got em off my buddy a couple years back, they are american bass 12's
  20. got two speakers that are dual 6-ohm
  21. a couple simple quick questions. will the following sub work in the following size box? would i need polyfill? sub: Planet Audio TQ100DVC box: 11.34 x 12 x 12 = 0.62781 cu/ft
  22. trying to figure out which setup would be better. either 4 Planet Audio TQ150DVC 15" dual 4-ohm TORQ subwoofers on an Audioque 2200D in a sealed box with 2 cu ft per sub. or 1 MA Audio MA1800XL 18" dual 4-Ohm subwoofer on an Audioque 2200D in a round port box tuned to 32hz with 5 cu ft for the sub. setup would be in the trunk of a 2nd gen Altima. sound i'm looking for is really loud deep bass, the kind that vibrates the air in your lungs (or as close to that as i can get ). electrical upgrades will be done (big 3, 0 ga, etc). i hope this is enough information for you all to help. thanks.

    which setup is better?

yeah, he designed my last one.
  24. wafsman

    which setup is better?

ooooohhhh, ok. yeah, i plan to build the box myself, but have it designed by someone else.
