A lot has changed in car audio

It is ok to underpower but the 1500 puts out 1500 watts rms at 1ohm which can be achieved by getting a dual 2 ohm sub

    Need help with box building.

That's 36. You multiply the two sides to get the port area. A 4x6 would be 24.

    Don Ganso Feedback

I just received a 15" fully loaded BL from him and I was amazed by the packing he did. I know UPS is good at breaking things but they would have had a hard time breaking this. Not only was the product in great condition but communicating with him was very easy and he shipped as soon as the payment cleared. Great guy to buy from. (I would post pictures of the sub and packaging but I'm still not smart enough to figure it out.)

    2 treo te 10's

What is your budget? What kind of music do you listen to? The more information the better as you have given basically nothing for anyone to help you out. Without goals or atleast preferences no one can give you a good answer.

    external ports?

Slimming down the box to 1.8 would make the tuning higher not lower. He would have to go with about 16 inches of port length to get 32hz.

    rebuilding box pic included

well im really looking for more like 32hz, but dont know how to get it yes there will be an extra baffle cos i dont think 1 3/4" mdf sheet can hold the 18" btl haha, i have 2 on my current box no bracing see i just dont know exactly what measurement is which is this the right measurement structure? You want to know the deminsions for the port? Your H would be the height of the port ( not what you have labled ). The W is correct how you have it labled. The L is partially right but in your drawing it would be L+H not just L. In your current design you will not have a bend like that and it would be nice to know if you are going to use a wall as a port wall or if you are going to center it in the box. Using part of the wall as a port wall would be like what you currently have. You may want to look into atleast adding 45's in it like you have in the picture of the box. To get 32hz you will need to change the length of the port, but I can't tell you exactly how long until you say if you are using part of the wall as or port and if you are going to do a little more bracing or not ( The BTL is heavy so you should really consider it ).

Got my 12" BTL and My BOlts and Tee nuts, But the Bolts dont fit..

I used this size bolt for my Q and it was a tight fit but it was able to fit. I basically had to screw it through the hole first (didnt feel like screwing it out).

Is that 35hz the frequency you are looking to tune it to? Youre doing a double baffle, right? Are you doing any bracing inside also or just the double baffle? You may want to try to go a little larger on the port area. Are you using any wall of the box as one of your port walls?

    Hifonics bxi2019 help

Definitely not. That amp is not made to run at .5 ohm. There are few amps that are able to handle it and those amps are made with much more quality than hifonics.

    Hiphonics bxi 2610d Any good?

I had the bxi2010 and I would agree with Alton and save a little more money and buy a better/more reliable amp.

    Headunit choices.

Someone should move this to the headunit section. For your question just search around and find one that fits in your price range and has your features. Pioneer and Alpines both are known for having great headunits and with a budget that high you can buy many of their higher end ones. Search a little and come back with a few you found that are what you want to look at buying and we can help you out a little better.

    bxi 2610

You should buy a high output alternator before you buy another battery. It will do more good since it sounds like you already have a strong battery bank.

    Need help choosing Subs Audioque?

If your trunk is anything like my Grand Am's then good luck fitting that big of a box. Its hard to fit much larger than a 4 cubic foot box after all displacements in my trunk. You could seal it off and get a good amount of space but if you are going with a box then you better stick with the 15" and don't try to cram an 18" in there.

    New front stage

I could easily do what OldSkool said but if its better to vent them then I could always try that too I just dont know what I would need to do for that. Would it be a better option to just throw out the q-logics and put the speakers in more of an ideal location?

    New front stage

I am looking into replacing my front stage right now and was wanting some advise on which way to go. My budget is $500 for just the speakers in a 2-way setup. I drive a 4 door 99 Grand Am and have no speakers in the rear. My current front stage consists of the Focal 165KF running passive. The Focals sound good in the higher ranges but lacks greatly in the lower ranges. I am not looking at getting louder just more low end and detailed. I cross my sub around the 50-60hz range and would like to bring my front stage close to that range also. I am looking to better the staging in my car. Currently I have these in the kicks with the speakers aimed inbetween the two front seats at the height of the headrests and the tweets aimed towards each other and slightly upwards. Now I have been thinking about putting the new speakers in door pods and putting the tweets in the A pillars. I am going to be running the new setup active off the SAX 100.4. I was wondering what speakers to go with and if the placement sounds good or if I should look into placing them in a different location. Any and all advise is welcome as I do not know a lot about front stage. I have been able to tell that it is the most important part of my setup since my sub is on only sometimes and when it is on, it is turned down all the way on my HU. If any other information is needed please let me know.

    New front stage

No I havent. Which way do you think would be the best way either vent or reinforce? How should I go about doing this?

    New front stage

I do not have a camera so I am not going to be able to show pictures of the install. I have the speakers in the q-logic kicks ( I think this might be part of the problem but I had never fiberglassed before when I bought these ). I have deadended all the doors with CLD tiles MLV and CCF from SDS and am going to be doing the floor when it gets nicer outside. I know very little when it comes to tuning a front stage so I have tried using the auto eq/ta on my head unit but it would never sound good so I started to adjust the eq and ta until I liked how it sounded. Each side is wired up to one channel on the amp and I have only adjusted the high pass filter on it and I have adjusted it all the way down to 50hz before. I have tried adjusting the low end of the eq on my head unit but it does not get much better. Im sorry if I'm not giving enough information as I have little knowledge when it comes to front stages so I will do my best to tell you everything you need to know.

    New front stage

I am planning on using just my HU ( Pioneer DEH-P980BT) for equalizing and maybe the time alignment and the SAX for the filters.

    Comp. Set Install

You can use resin on the mdf to make it hold up to water. This can also be found at many hardware stores.

    12" 09 BL causing dimming

The BL does not pull the amps the amp is what is pulling the amps. So if you had no dimming before putting in the new alternator and now after you have dimming then it might be that the alternator does not put out the amps it is suppose to until higher RPMs which is then not charging the batteries correctly. If it started after you put the BL in then it must be wired up differently then your last setup was so you may what to check your gain and make sure it is how it is suppose to be. Also may want to check all your ground wires to make sure they have a good, paint-free connection.

Four Q's vs Four Bl's? What differences can you expect?

Yeah the Q can handle 1k easily. I have ran mine on 1500 watts for long periods of time and have not had any problems with it not being able to take it. Love the idea of the shop if I just had the money to buy all the subs

    New System Electrical upgrade Question

Get a meter and watch the voltage. If it drops then look into getting another battery but you should be fine with just the Big 3. No one will be able to tell for sure but a meter is the only way to find out.

Four Q's vs Four Bl's? What differences can you expect?

There aren't that many songs that have notes in the 26-30hz range as there are in the 40-50hz range. If you get the BLs they say to port the lowest to 30hz and the Q to 28hz so I wouldn't go down to 27hz especially going with the BLs. You will be able to hear those low notes just fine with tuning it to 30hz and then you will still be in the reccommended range. To answer your question the BLs will be louder than the Qs and still sound good doing it. The Q is made for SQ purposes not for SPL purposes like it seems to me you are aiming for.

less then 5 ft3 in volume

Thats over 1 cuic ft. smaller than the minimum recommended. It would definitely not be ideal for the subs to be placed in a box that size and could end up sounding terrible just so you can get a little increase in output. I would say either sell them and step down to 15's or just stay with a single 18.
