component set question
smashedz28 replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm lookin into the zapco 6.2 iforce I think there called. I know zapco makes better ones but those are too expensive at this point, not to mention I've never owned a single component set in my life. I'll get the cheaper till I know what I'm doin for sure. No way I'm spendin damn near $400 to experement with. I'll learn on the $160~ set -
I know sundown recommends a fuse 8 inches before their amp.. I was told once before 150A is just fine... Im running the knukonceptz 1/0 KLMX cable (250a).. I started talkin about this to some other people off the internet and they keep tryin to tell me its way too much lol.. i think their full of it cause they also tell me 1/0 is overkill for any system lol. just want some clarification on this, thank you. Amp will be mounted maybe 1.5 ft from back battery and wired directly to it with a fuse.

Help choosing sub(s)/amp for new build
smashedz28 replied to joemacgames's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I cant speak for AQ subs, but the BTL is a monster.. really think about if you want that much bass. I wanted a system that SLAMS so i got the 18" BTL.. before it broke in i thought it was a bad choice because of how obnoxious it sounds.. but now that its broken in and has smoothed out a little bit. Basically if you want the btl make sure you have the power for it and electrical. its a beast! Going from what you have to a BTL will be day and night difference for sure. choose wisely, do ALOT of research before you make up your mind. -
It took me getting an 18" BTL to realize what people meant about the Q being a SQ sub also. day and night difference between the 2. The Q is very musical in my opinion. Sounds great, plays bass notes real smooth.. then you goto the BTL which is obnoxiously loud lol. so much pressure. im in love
-
I was on the waiting list the last time they ordered magnets. took basically a month.. but was worth it 18" BTL is a monster.
-
yea front stage is hurtin me, i need to learn what the hell im doin with that part also.. the sub im thinking has broken in over the past few days, its getting a bit lower. I honestly doubt the box is too small.. its too big if anything, port area might be too much also. Little more info on the box (which i measured wrong somewhere) Box for my 18" BTL
-
I tried measuring it once and failed, there is a thread floating around here about it.. I can give you the width of the box, height, depth.. think my problem was the port, not sure the proper way to measure that to give you guys the numbers you need to calculate it. but if you guys can instruct me ill sure do it. appreciate the responses guys. I have the subsonic filter set properly (if my box truely is tuned to 32hz). the LPF seems to be based on my high's and to be honest its a damn mess right now. I have 4 Eclipse 6.5's in all doors all ran to a MB QUART 4125.. the system has been in thevehicle for 3 days now, and i cant turn it up at home, 98% of my tuning has been done while driving on the deck or sitting parked in the driveway with the system off.. lol.. need to get to the park or an open parking lot with a small flathead and get to work i actually got out earlier today while i had it up.. flexes the hell out of everything.. doors, roof.. windows.. things laying in the gutter 6 ft or so away.. sub is amazing, just need to get it figured out.

forgot to add the voltage calculation i did.. So please correct me if im wrong. Im using a Sundown1500D at 1 ohm. so... Voltage = Sqrt(1500 * 1) Voltage = 38.72983.... Play a 50hz test tone and adjust the gain until I get a voltage as close to that number as possible? 3/4 volume.. AC volts..no bass boost or Loud features on at all..? that sound about right?

SSA Forum T-shirt Design Vote
smashedz28 replied to Aaron Clinton's topic in News, Announcements, and Lobby
i voted for one of mine also, i like number 7 for some reason. Glad you guys like the ones I made. -
While the subject is here I just got done putting all my stuff in. Saz1500 and an 18btl. Remote acts weird. Think it has a bad wire. If I wiggle the cord the blue led goes on and off. Is that cord identical to a telephone cord? As in if I were to cut it back a foot or two and use one of those tools for the ends. Is that a possibility or would I just need to get ahold of another? I narrowed it down to a section of the wire, the plug is fine I believe

LOL.. id say BTL too

alright, 150 it is lol. thanks.

Alright.. There is a huge hype on the sa-8's.. badass speakers ive heard.. is the other SA speakers comparable? .. hope that makes sense.. what im asking is would the sa-8 sound better than the 10 or 12? they are all reasonably priced, but if the 8 sounds so damn good can i expect the same from the 12? I know the nightshade is a beast.. thats not in question.

I'm looking for a online website to purchase a deck along with who knows what in the future. Tryin to get an alpine deck for a friend who's cargot broken into recently. I have dealt with sonicelectronix before. Prices weren't bad. Thing is there backordered on most of the good alpinedecks. If you guys have any sites that have good prices, good selection and good service let me know. Would really appreciate it

Hifonics brutus BRZ 1200.1 or Sundown SAZ 1000.1
smashedz28 replied to ExplicitYourSelf's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Sundown all day -
Im just looking into buying a sundown amp for my truck soon.. i already have a SAZ1500 for my other vehicle and ive heard nothing but good about those.. cant wait to get it hooked up here soon.. but i see the SAE1200 is the same price as the SAZ1000 ... what is the difference between these 2 amps? i know the rated wattage but what else is there? is the sae lacking a few things? just very curious.
-
Alright, just wasnt sure if the 8 being newer was built differently than the 12.. maybe something new that the 12 hasnt got just yet.. the idea was based on my 98 S10 extended cab.. room for a 12 or a few 8's... my 12" of choice for love of the brand and price is the Fi BL, but Sundown is a brand of sub woofers im going to get my hands on one way or another lol. Appreciate everything so far, sure this thread will fill up with some more good info. Thanks everyone.
-
afraid that was gonna be asked.. this is just something im kickin around in my head for the near future.. no goals, no power yet.. nothing.. just wanted to get an idea of these subs is all. You tell me what they can do and I can figure out the rest by the time im ready to buy it and build it lol.
-
I shouldnt have mentioned the sa-10 as i dont think its out yet, i know there is a pre sale goin on, but i havent seen any more than the thread on here about those. Mainly concerned with the sa-8's and sa-12's.
-
all good info.. ill stick with the SAZ's.. i like amps built like tanks im on a budget to a point.. i can spare the money for the good one when the time comes. Thanks you guys.

Fuse Holders... Voltage Drop?
smashedz28 replied to Don Ganso's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
looks like i may have got ahead of myself ordering from knu.. bought 4 of the big ANL style holders, should have got these.. wonder if it makes a big difference. idea makes sense. -
Looks like i could chime in here. just installed mine a few days ago.. its a 220amp alt from db-electrical.. This weekend ill be throwing the system in there but i hooked it up with a Kinetik hc2000 under the hood along with big 3 in 1/0 ... kinda bothers me how the voltage is.. when its at like 12-1300 RPM's my guage is higher than its ever been (stock dash volt meter) .. when i let off the gas it drops drastically.. This is my first HO alternator so im not sure what to expect but I know for a fact i want steady voltage and thats not what I have. Ill be adding another HC2000 to the back this weekend, hope it level's it out a bit, but right now its up and down. Im sure i wont have problems with it, its just not what i want.. but they state this on their website. they tell you what RPM the alternator makes its output at.. so just understand there not lying. Ill be experimenting more, also will be adding a digital volt meter here soon to be completely certain. From what I have gathered you need to pay attention to where the alternator makes its power. idle or a certain RPM
