    2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Questions

my friend has a 2008 grand prix.. just pull on the panel (if its the same) it pops right off. running a deck in that thing was a pain in the ass.. alot of functions for the vehicle runs thru the stock deck.. something to do with turn signals and other stuff.. basically had to buy a big harness to route the stock deck to the trunk and that harness gave us the wires to get a aftermarket deck in there. Friend had a local shop do the install, looks like a pain. but its cool now that its all done and dont have to worry about it.

    experiences with db-r?

Im thinking of buying from them, ive heard the website thrown around alot here, from memory mostly good.. has anyone had a problem with db-r? The item im looking at is just a sundown saz1500d.. it is refurbished and 99% of the time that just means gabage. What do you guys think? good experiences, bad experiences?

    What do I have here?

I got this a god 8-9 years ago from some guy for dirt cheap. we can just say it was in my worse days and he used to bring me all types of weird stuff.. I was told this was valuable at one time but I could never find it on the internet or even make it sound good.. although i could have been doing something wrong.. Basically what im asking you guys is to tell me what his is if you know.. dont sugar coat it.. if its junk then tell me, been sitting in the closet for ALONG time. here is some pics... I have atleast 4 of the smaller speakers and 1 of the centers. I might have even more than the 4, i dont want to dig them all up just yet lol.

    what do you guys think?

Just looking for opinion's here.. currently have a BTL 18" (gen 2) and im in the market for a 2nd. I have located one which has never seen power.. brand new basically. Guy wants $400 and since Fi isnt selling the gen 2 anymore and the neo's wont work with the gen 2's this might be a good choice.. this is where i got thrown in a loop.. ran across this ad on craigslist. http://stockton.craigslist.org/ele/2011526092.html some DC audio lvl4 18's.. 2 of em for the price that this guy wants to sell me 1 btl for.. i know nothing about DC audio. i know its a quality product. Im looking at both as a good deal.. buying the btl will give me 2 total which is what im trying to run.. or buying these dc audio's would give me 2 also.. how would you guys compare a btl to a lvl4 dc? I know the dcs handle 1000rms a piece where the btl is 2000.. im going to need another amp regardless.. im not competing. but i do love the sound the the single btl i have now. infact writing this right now im pretty sure i know what i want to do but I like to read opinions. no specific goals, not looking for a SQ or a straight spl sub, just something that sounds good and hits the lows. I understand install is everything. a box design will follow the purchase along with another sundown 1500 to strap to my current @ a 2 ohm load.. should be decent i think?

hmmm, sundown's official repair shop huh? Sounds great! Think im gonna have to give it a shot. thanks

    what do you guys think?

you did just fine thats what my gut was telling me also, just had to ask
  8. As the title states, I need to get my hands on a decent but not overly expensive amp that can do 1000WRMS @ a 2 ohm load. I have a older Fosgate 1000.1BD which would work real good im sure since it makes its power right at 2 ohms but its a little screwy and im not going to waste my patience on that pos lol. The Audiopipe 15001D caught my eye even thought it makes its power @ 1 ohm its not far off with 950w @ 2 ohms. Anything else out there I should look into? more is always better but the vehicle has a stock electrical system so running this D1 Sub at 0.5 isnt an option at this point lol

    Help Identifying an FI sub!!!

well.. guess ive hit a wall here lol... i keep breaking out the flashlight on it looking for anything but nothing is there. i guess i have no choice but to believe the kid.. he says its a Q and at this point it very well could be, ill treat it as a Q when building an enclosure and powering it. Hope all works out, appreciate the responses

    Help Identifying an FI sub!!!

i picked it up for $120, not really worried about it, dont plan on installing it in any of my vehicles (probably trade it for a 12" Q with a friend for my s10) but i for sure need to figure this out before i build the box.

    Help Identifying an FI sub!!!

Im going to post this question here, hopefully it gets a little attention.. how in the world can you tell an older Q from an older SSD ? i just bought a 15" (supposed to be a Q) from a guy on craigslist.. sub is in good condition but before i go putting it in a box i need to figure this out.. its for sure a Q or SSD.. looks very similar to OP pictures.. in fact looks identical.. but thats only going off the 2 pictures he posted. im going to go outside and take a few pics to add but maybe there is something i can look for to clarify. appreciate any help, as far as labeling on the basket area there is none

    front stage advice

lets see here.. Punkeyboozter .. i like the idea but that almost looks photoshoped lol. doesnt look real, but i understand.. not a bad idea and thats something i could probably manage to do. duran and steve thanks for clarification on those speakers. and j-roadtatts , im not sure if its a phase issue.. doesnt that just reverse the speakers? as in instead of pushing they will pull in... will that effect the loudness? they sound clean just cant be heard well over the btl. I believe they are getting as much power as they are rated for from the current amp, if not more.. i have tried 'pumping' everything up a little thru all the deck settings which lead to them sounding muffled.. one person called it something thermal with the amp.. pushing them too hard i guess.. it has done this with 2 amps ive tried with them when the deck is set a certain way. who knows.. i think im going to attempt to get the tweets up in the pillars first off. right now they are located on the upper portion of the door panel, as high as possible while still looking decent (still havent cut holes just velcro, lol) thanks you guys for the advice.

    front stage advice

Ive been playing with my front stage for a little while and its just not cutting it for me.. let me give some info here, I have a 18" BTL running off a sundown 1500 @ 1 ohm, Damn speaker hits real hard (ported box). in a 97 Tahoe 4door. I dont know much about running a proper sounding front stage, i have deadened the 2 front doors and placed a pair of Zapco i-6 components in the front 2 doors. Powered by an older fosgate 600.4, using the supplied crossover (passive i believe?). I also have 2 eclipse coaxial's in the rear doors running off the same amp as the fronts. I have done the whole Velcro thing on the tweets moving them around to see what I like best.. they sound just ok.. Am i expecting too much from a set of components? I dont expect them to be the best sounding things in the world but i want a high end that sounds decent over this monster btl in the back lol. Im nowhere talented enough to fiberglass my door panels and use 2 pair per door and the local shop wants an outrageous amount of money to do it for me.. I havent tried putting speakers in the pillars just yet. What would you guys do at this point? Different components? appreciate any response given Thanks '

Gen 3 BTLs and BTL history

Which one's? CS60CF, for $225 right now here at SSA ?

    front stage advice

hmm, both good ideas.. I just really hate the stock location in a Tahoe like mine, real low close to the floor.. i have an s10 also and i installed a cheap set of kicker 4 x 6's in the dash and damn those sound so good to me.. i know thats just because the sound is coming from a lot higher up, do they make q logic's for the a pillars? some sound up higher in the vehicle might also do it for me.

Since everyone seems to want Neo...

damn... thats kind of upsetting. I like to buy new, im real happy with this BTL i have now and getting close to buying another.. now thats not gonna be able to happen.. thats life i guess :/ if this is the case it will be the 2nd time running into this problem with fi.. have an older fi q i bought and when i realized i wanted a second they changed up on me lol.. haven't been able to find a match for it yet. guess next time ill just wise up and buy 2 cause damnit i love Fi woofers

    front stage advice

depends.. deep down i cant see a set of components in stock location doing much more than what i have now.. i was thinking i would get people telling me I was correct.. maybe im not lol.. its hard for me to run out and buy another component set after i just bought this one (zapco) .. but if it would solve my problem i could spend 200 or so give or take. But Im sure its impossible for anyone to be able to tell. Ill look into the bravox and see if anything catches my eye.

Since everyone seems to want Neo...

2nd gen BTL's... will I have trouble running one with the older one i have? Ive been planning on buying a 2nd for a while now.
  22. smashedz28

    front stage advice

lol, i wish... ill probably need some fiberglassed door panels to make that all work out.. thats what i want.. but at this point because of price im trying to avoid. if there was a site i could goto and buy pre glassed door panels i would be all over it.. but its just something i dont feel comfortable doing myself or paying a shitload for from a local shop. trying to work with the stock location for the speakers.. maybe its not realistic to expect any 6.5 speaker set to sound good over a btl? lol i dont know.
