Im sick of hearing about this guy (nothing against your thread). The way he does business is BS. I will never spend a penny of my money with this guy or any of his businesses.
  4. Ordered a sa-12 thru ibanender/sundownonly.com. Very professional. Got the package in good shape 3 days early and was exactly as we agreed on. Will definitely do business with Sean again in the future.

    fi bl 15

Welcome to SSA! When asking questions here be very specific. Give us all the details so you can get the best answers otherwise it usually turns out to be a worthless thread. As far as building the box, use what Fi recommends. "BL 15 – Ported box we recommend using 2.8-4 cubic feet @ 28-37Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume." Im no box builder at all.. but i would say to size it so each sub gets that much airspace. and tuned to your 32hz you want. List the dimensions you have to work with L x W x H so you can get more help, or contact one of the 2 guys in my signature, they both do box designs and could provide you with what you need to build it yourself.

can you believe this shit? outrageous if you ask me. just figured I would share, kinda steep for a sub I paid $200 for. Sub isnt even blown, just was curious on how much it would cost to freshen it up. ouch.

Does it have alot of spider sag to it? If you look straight across the spider you can tell. That will change the reading of the coils No.. A coil has X feet of wire on it for a desired dcr. The only time you get added resistance is when you get a tinsel popping or a solder joint that is half melted from clipping the thing to death. good to know, there is no spider sag, everything looks as it should from what I can see. Could very well have been clipped to all hell though before i bought it. either way its going to take its new home on the shelf in the garage till i figure out what i want to do with it

    Single SA-12 Ported Box Size

since your doubling the RMS of the driver i would keep it on the small side of the recommendations for sure. As far as tuning cant help you there.

    SQ setup in Ford Ranger

with a final ohm load of 2 ohm you will want either (2) Dual 2 Ohm subs or (2) Single 4 Ohm subs, both will get you there. As far as how much to run to them, i would say the recommended power? about 300rms ea..and for enclosure i would say to go off recommended enclosure also. You didnt say what size sub's you were going with, but looking at the SSA store the enclosure sizes are listed for each driver. Just took a look at the dcons, dont see a dual 2 ohm option, so single 4 ohm's will be the one for you to get a 2 ohm load at the amp. You also said this is a SQ setup.. should probably list some of your front stage also as its a very important part of your goals. Thats about as far as i can go with helping you on this, Im no SQ guy what so ever and ive also never touched a Dcon, just use the recommended specs if your in doubt. should work fine.

    SICKEST SET-UP EVER!!!!!!!!! NASTY

Just when i thought dr subwoofer was crazy you go and post this. At least this guy isnt trying to educate people. Just kind of a dumbass, with a mess of a system.

Just a crazy idea I had. Suspension isnt very tight. cone moves with ease. Still unsure of this but the coils read higher than what i usually see on a D2 coiled subwoofer, think it was close to 2.4 per coil.. thought it was a sign of being abused or worn out?? still unsure on any truth to that. either way i thought i had nothing to loose and emailed for info on a recone. Go ahead and throw that idea out the window. Buying a used subwoofer you never truly know how the person before you treated it.

    fi n3 tunning?

It probably isnt, but recones are not too expensive from Fi

Received my design today. Looks great, very detailed images to go along with it so there is no confusion. Very fast with getting it to me. Will definitely do business with him again on the next project i get myself into.

How Should i Set my Amp for A BL 15?

I dont use any equipment to set mine as of right now, by ear is what i do, as 98gmc said, is not a volume control. You dont need it cranked all the way up and probably shouldnt have it that high. start low and work your way up, if you for a second think its too high it probably is. lower it slightly till it sounds like your not hurting the sub. use your best judgement. Its hard to explain to someone how to set their gains by ear. if you have or have access to an o-scope then that would probably be the best way to do it.
  25. no experience with the DD amps either but my saz 1500 is a tank, never had an amp that i was as happy with before. wouldnt trade it for any amp on the market in its power range.
