Glad this got bumped! My system will be getting installed in my 2011 Malibu Ltz very soon. I have almost an entire system for mine sitting here. Waiting for a head unit and a few batts and I'll start installing. I went with a dc power 250xp alt.. $653 out the door.. Ouch! Better be worth every penny. I can't seem to find many builds for these malibus. Probably start a small build log for mine here soon when I start. Lookin good man. Going back thru your Build I see you went with the kinetic 1400 under the hood. Im at that point now and was kinda unsure... Now I know

For me I don't compete. I commute lol. Plus I live in a ghetto ass town. Might be a pain to always have to lift and lower the seats every time I get in or out. Thanks

I bought a dc alt about 2 weeks ago.. Been in the garage for about a week. I've read the horror stories but took them with a grain of salt and so far so good. As long as it performs like it should I'll be giving them my business again in the future

I'm in the same boat... Kinda. Thinking of sealing my trunk as well but there is no way in hell I'm spraying that shit in my 2011 vehicle. What can be expected from sealing off the trunk? Will it be noticeable to the ear or just the meter? Will my back seats have to be down in order to sound good? Lots of questions

I bought a db electric alternator a few years back. Worst decision I made. Voltage is all over the damn place while driving. At idle it's garbage.. I think that's how the majority of ho alts are...I learned to not be cheap when it comes to electrical equipment... Should have my dc power 250xp here any day for my next build.. I don't think I'm going to have that problem anymore.

I used to love ppi. Thought they sold out. Nice to see there still around.. I personally had good luck with audio pipe ap1500d. eBay they are goin for about $150 new

I have a premier head unit that has a bunch of time alignment eq and a ton more I have been tweaking it for years. I actually find it kinda useless. Once I enable the time alignment it turns to shit no matter what I do. Maybe something's not set up right?

I can't seem to find the Rockford fosgate 3.sixty.2's anywhere except eBay. Anyone know of anywhere other than a shop which I'm sure is the most expensive or eBay to buy these processors?

Thanks, one more thing.. Why do all these .2's look just like the .1's? I went to a shop and looked at one that looks identical. Obviously doesn't say ".2" on the cover. Is there visual differences?

I was at a local shop today browsing and I see a rf 3sixty .1 says he will take $199 for it. Seems decent as far as price. My plan is for my new Malibu I'm buying everything before I install. 2 sa12's, crescendo bc2000, fosgate t1 components, rf power t400.4..etc those things I have now. I want a clean sounding system that of course hits nice and hard. I have no experience with processors. The components will be in stock locations with no intentions of altering that. Head unit will be changed so no need for the oem integration part of the 3sixty just RCA ins. I assume if I plan to use the 3sixty I'll have to ditch the passive crossovers..correct? Which will become an active setup? Never ran active. Could I expect a better sounding overall system if I do this assuming I'm able to properly set the 3sixty up even though I'm not willing to budge on speaker placement? 3sixty processor vs just passive crossovers on my components, is it something that could be worth the price to run? This unit has RCA inputs/outputs for front, rear and sub. If I decide to run my tweets on 2 channels of my rf power 400.4 and the 6.5s on the other 2 I would for example use the front input for 6.5s and rear for tweets? A little confused. Thanks for any help given. I understand certain equipment may not be for me and my particular install just want to get people's opinions.

This topic is to help a friend at work. He recently bought a 1996 Lexus ls400, he loves the stock system as far as clarity just wants to add some bass. It has a stock free air 8" in the rear deck but its guttless on any bass. He doesn't want anything outrageous just needs to get it bumpin a little bit. What do you guys suggest he do? He has mentioned maybe just find another free air 8 to replace what's there...who makes a decent free air 8? Maybe do a LOC and just add a sub and amp to the trunk?..but he has a stock amp and I have no clue how that works.. Another question he asked me was if he changes his stock head unit, will he lose the ability to use the stock amp and end up ruining what he is already happy with? Just trying to help him out all my experience is with just ripping out the old equipment and replacing it, but he's made it clear he doesn't want to get into all that. So what do you guys suggest? Is there other options? Maybe someone has dealt with something similar? As far as his budget he doesn't want to go nuts but is open to any ideas for further research. That's something he has been considering. Just unsure what's needed and how it all goes together since the stock system is amplified. I have just about no experience with line out converters. As far as I've ever seen don't those tap into speaker wires giving you rca's to use? Tapping in before the amp sounds like a pain in the ass. Doing it after the amp seems like a no go. He said everything is ran on 1 amp I didn't look at all so I'm unsure. He said the amp is a stock pioneer? Not sure if Lexus used them.. I know the head unit is nakamichi..

I took a quick peek and maybe squeeze a 10 but I doubt any bigger. Are the ib3s sold in a 10"? I don't think fi messes with 8's...do they.

I've always ran 1/0 power and grounds on my systems.. 2 situations I've ran into.. 1. My dad is ALWAYS telling me I should run 4awg wire, thinks 1/0 is way too much. Almost as if its bad to run a wire that size.. my system isn't huge just a sundown1500 another ~600 rms highs amp with a ho alt...is that just an old school way of thinking? 2. I recently bought a bunch of 1/0 CCA knukonceptz wire and I think I'd rather go with some OFC instead. Friend of mine has recently bought a audiopipe 1500 from me and has no wire. Stock everything..I want to sell him all this CCA wire I have to buy what I really want.. my original thinking is it should work fine (after adapting to 4 GA for the amp input) but my dad keeps getting me thinking lol. Is there any negatives here? I prefer the bigger wire regardless but should I be considering the smaller wire in these smaller installs? Just need some reassurance or something. Thanks

I have a crescendo bc2000 that's goin in 1st sure cca would be cool for that but I plan to upgrade to the bc3500 or if funds allow the bc5500, so I'd like to just run the good stuff so I don't have the urge to redo it later

I only buy 1/0 I was more or less looking for a semi technical explanation as to why it won't hurt anything and it's not as overkill as he may think. I believe you guys have provided that. Thanks!
