People are getting confused, it is not a clipping detector. It is a distortion detector, not all clipping is distortion and not all distortion is clipping. Tough to tell if you have distortion @5khz, 10khz, 15khz as the wave is so small and masked by the larger waves so i can see where the device has practical applications in detection distortion in equipment where an o-scope might not be the be all end all device. Until people have the units in hand and try everything possible to see what the full capabilities are it won't be an easy thing to say that its useful or useless, only time will tell whether it has a few applications or a myriad of applications. I agree that using it for only setting gains on amps is a bit overkill in price compared to some of the smaller and more cost effective handheld o-scope units.

Since you got an email telling you the invoice doesn't exist isn't the end of the world, PM NDMstang65 with the problem and he will get back to you with an answer. Include everything in the message so he can get you the exact information needed.

Damn i was under the impression he was going to use a 6.5" comp set and adding a 10" to it. Hmmmm, very perplexing indeed.
-
Just stick with the kicker comps for the time being, if it doesn't seem as if you have enough bass then you might want to look into some 8" speakers for midbass.
-
Yes it will, just make sure air can get to it so it can dry or it can take months before it dries if ever.

program to convert wma music files to mp3's?
Skullz replied to superman814's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
Import it to audacity and then exporting will allow you set what format you would like it to be in, mp3, wave or something else. Make sure you set the folder where the copies go or you'll have to find the folder in audacity. -

Audacity might, i think it needs a plug-in first though. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ -
Each sub is custom made to your spec's so it will take some time to get them made and shipped but as has already been stated you will not but disappointed in your purchase.
-
How about unique speakers?
-
Your still a bit confused on it, think of it this way. The rms of a given sub is 2000w so that means that each coil is capable of 1000w per coil to equal the 2000w rating of the sub, sub wattage ratings are a combination of both coils together to come up with the rating needed to advertise to us customers. Another thing is the subs with quad coils using the same principle, each coil may be recommended with 500w per coil allowing a total rms rating of 2000w for the sub which would be the advertised rating we all see. SVC sub - 2000w RMS = 1 coil@2000w DVC sub - 2000w RMS = 2 coils@1000w QVC sub - 2000w RMS = 4 coils@500w Hope that helps to clear things up.

Bass restoration processors
Skullz replied to cobra93's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Iv'e been using audacity to enhance the bass portions of some of my music that i play in the car so i can control how much and where to raise the levels at along with making sure i don't have any clipping from the newly enhanced tracks, i think the processors do an ok job to enhance it but you have no way of actually knowing your clipping the signal till it's too late. I try to buy new digitally remastered songs over the older versions since they have taken the time to enhance the song along with the lower end of the recording that was lacking bass to begin with. My feeling on it is that i would rather have a better recording of the source than to buy something to enhance a certain genre of music cause if i decide to play something with more bass in it now i have to change things around and that just becomes a real pita after a while, been there and done that. -
Might want to find out if the srt4 150 amp alt is a direct replacement for your stock alt as your going to need more than that stock alt can provide, make sure and do the big 3 in 1/0 and even get a second battery in the trunk to give some capacity to the system for a mono amp that large.
-
Yeah, i had one for 8 months on a pair of rockford fosgate P1 10's till i got new subs and a bigger amp.
-
Alpine mrp m500 would be fine for those. http://cgi.ebay.com/ALPINE-MRP-M500-CLASS-D-AMP-MONO-BLOCK-AMPLIFIER-NEW-/400173414419?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item5d2c31b813#ht_3480wt_1150

The vocals are incredible, the treble to me is perfect and not harsh and these things can pump some bass for 6.5's to me they were worth every penny i spent on them as i was also contemplating bravox, polk, rainbow and crescendo speakers but had always wanted to get a set of hertz and took the plunge on them.
-
I'm pretty sure i'll get flamed for my choices which is fine but i did get 2 sets of those hertz and can say they are awesome for the price being 6 year old new old stock. Everything i listed comes out to just a tad over the $800 mark but not by much. Looking on getting one but won't have funds available till friday, will there be any problems with that?
-
It's called ringing and there is an easy fix for it, just go to an chain store that sells Dacron batting in 1" thickness and line a couple of the walls with it and that will stop the box from making any noise. Here is a link to an ebay store so you can see what is and possibly buy some. http://cgi.ebay.com/27-Wide-Bonded-Dacron-Batting-SOLD-PER-YARD-/390104452113?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad4098c11#ht_500wt_1154

What your hearing is called ringing from the box, it happens in sealed boxes mainly but can happen in ported enclosures as well. To remedy the problem just go to any upholstery store and get 1yd of dacron batting and line the walls with it and that will solve the ringing problem you have.
