The Dcon is a very tonal subwoofer, and is geared towards loud and smooth. Even sounds that way in a ported enclosure! Unfortunately you are in a juggling act of physics. You can have low, loud, and smooth. Pick two. I will add that when a subwoofer is in phase with the mids, it is usually the quieter setting of the two phase options. But more balanced sounding. Make sure to test with one mid wired out of phase though, or you might not reach "absolute" phase.

The other suggestion would be change the orientation of the enclosure in the car. The thought would be it may shift or lower the cabin gain. The sub may not sound as loud, but might smooth out the response.

As Alton said, the first test would be either cut the bottom with an eq or boost the top.... without any other speakers playing. (doesn't matter if you boost or cut as far as testing go's, but blending might be a diff story) Second test would be to raise the crossover and flatten out the slope, to see if that sub in the current alignment is even capable of producing what you are after. Again without any other speakers playing. Have you played with the phase of your sub and/or midbasses? Wire the passenger midbass out of phase From the driver side, then toggle the subwoofer phase. See what happens.

Some may choose to call it ignorance, others they say it's bliss!!

My favorite subjects are anthropology, analytical psychology and the subconscious. You want to talk about people glazing over...when you start talking about humans in third person.

I must be a pretty uncool person also, as my mind loves to go fishing for information. That thing looks a lot like the Hadron collider. I presume the gift you have is to make anyone feel comfortable in the situation they otherwise would not.

Love me some math. I am content as could be crunching numbers all day. When I get really bored I study quantum mechanics, as I am obsessed with molecules, particles and transfer of energy. Lol

Yeah think I misread your "learn while I move". In the context I see learn while on the move, now. Doh

Where are you moving to Matt?

October is my slow month, so I have taken up painting to keep from going crazy. Lol

The book was a gift from someone I worked for this summer. Found it on my desk one day with a personal note penned on the inner cover. Otherwise probably wouldn't have it. Has been a good read so far.
-
I feel you, has taken me 3 months to read 30 pages. Although the book so far has been 1-2 page power point chapters, so easy to pick back up.
-
Since you have time off Matt, thought you might like a book suggestion.

Still managed to get three things listed this morning, after the flood incident.

I have been spending the mornings listing stuff on eBay. I feel sorry as fuck for any poor asshole that has to sit at a keyboard all day.

Woke up to a flooded utility room this morning. The house filters housing had cracked. Needless to say drove an hr to get a new o-ring before work, only to find the crack. So it's bybassed now.

So basically baking soda and hydrogen peroxide? I could see why a pro vac would be needed afterwards with that concoction.

Lots and lots of enzymes. Might be the padding that smells, which would suck.

I shall live vicariously through you. Enjoy the warmth.

Daughters car has been at the shop a week and a half... .......and they called and said they still can't get it done til next week. Sounds like they had to take it apart twice and are getting ready to take it apart a third time. What a fucking nightmare. Lol
