    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I'm not claustrophobic by any means. But I get an uneasy feeling when my head is near or touching a headliner, so I feel you.

And the H800 is officially hooked up and running!!!!!! About my only complaint with the H700 I have is a loose plug, so I heat srunk the 800 plug. Though it was cool it displays voltage.

It just keeps sounding betters and betters. Heres a pic of the ride. Have owned it since brand new. Was the wife's first new car, and I adopted it once I bought her a new car a couple years ago. I wasn't complaining as the noise floor is fairly low and has lots of room for equipment!

Is the LS1 swap still popular? That would make a tasty treat.

The JL looks like a decent choice. Good xmax for a shallow mount and about as high of RMS as you could hope for too. Not a lot of ppl running shallows, so you may not get a lot of responses. But I could be wrong, still a heads up if no one else chimes in.

Good to hear you are back at it... and it's GO time! Excellent choice on the speakers and tweets. They have great power response and flexibility for blending. They should fit your tastes very nicely. Have a set I've been enjoying the myself.

Hyundai is the true definition of planned obsolescence. my general rule of thumb for a beater is if I can get 20k miles for every $500 spent, I'm happy.

  22. Welcome to SSA! 1) Correct, on the co-axial. 2)Alpine would be top of my list, with the JBL next. I would pick Pioneer over the other two. 3) you didn't say the size so..... Alpine SPS-517 or SPS-610. I believe these to be built by Dayton and imo will have the best midbass. The R-S65 if you are after extreme clarity and detail, but with a light midbass. The SPS are power hungry, but will reward you nicely if fed correctly. 4)Both cone materials are well behaved due to the internal dampening properties of the materials. And will hold up well in a car door, if that is a concern. As Five stated above, a little damper mat and a wood/MDF/HDPE baffle will go a long ways in creating a good sounding install.

Ha. That's what I said when I was 12 and dad traded the go-cart for an 11 piece screwdriver set. Who the fuck charges 400-500 dollars for a set of screwdrivers? The snap-on guy, that's who.

One could be a monk on a mountain in the Himalayas or a truck driver in LA, and life will still have an ebb and flow of contentness and distress. Nothing there to be jealous of. No one gets off this planet alive! Yeah!
