What are you going to use for the case, to mount everything in?! Have been following a cool DYI audio and electronics group. Dudes be building boom-boxes out of all kinds of things. Has been sweet to see all the different ways people set them up.
  3. I am looking at a pair of used Crossfire Db3 12"s, for my nephews ride. Not a brand I am familiar with, so was hoping someone had experience with them. The gentleman selling them only wants $50 for the pair, so right in the price range I want to spend on the kid. I know they are subs and will make sound, just making sure they are not majorly flawed by design or anything. Thanks in advance.

No worries. I'm not someone that has a single listening preference so can relate.

Other part I forgot to mention is cabin gain, or the frequency your car is going to naturally amplify on its own. This will change your response curve somewhat also, but is not something you can really model as every car is different. It could mean you'll gain back the low-end. Or possibly gain some higher frequency, leveling out the response. Either way you're going to have loud head knocking bass! When you get tired of just being loud and low as possible, you can always smooth things out a little with the EQ, level the output with the frontstage and make it more acoustical. Or depending on how easily you can get to your adjustments, possibly have two different settings. One for all out and the other for easy listening.

I think that would be tits! Will move a ton of air with almost 20" sq in of port per cube, without the port coloring the music at high volume.

If you are obsessed with teh lower tuned box, then that is clearly the correct choice for you. Personally I think you are hung up on the math side of things and forgetting you are going to be playing music.... music is dynamic, not linear like the graph you are looking at. If a song has a 26hz sound, it will make that sound weather the box is tuned to 32 or 28. At the volume levels I can already guess you plan on, 26hz will be there either way and the slight gain will be felt more than heard. Everything above will have lower output. IMO thats a shitty trade-off in a car. I would take the 3db gain from 30hz up knowing the 6db down at 26hz will still be shaking the hell out things. Port area is based more on the power planned, than the enclosure volume. If you plan on listening at full tilt most of the time the larger the port the better... because it will have less port resonance.

Welcome to SSA! Both designs look good for your desired goals. I personally would do the box tuned to 32hz with a little more port area. Either one will crush your throat and blur your vision, but the one will be a little more efficient. (make better use of the power) Even tuned to 32hz, 28hz will be plenty loud. As far as port placement, you will not hear a difference by ear, so do what is most forgiving from the design side of things. I always love the sound of a sub firing into the cabin, sealed from the trunk. Good lucky with the build eh!! Don't for get to take pics and post a build log!!

Baby Mila is having her last surgery of the foreseeable future today. Should be fairly minor compared to the last one.

Big-o broke the center out of one my Cragar rims once. Must of thrown it on the machine without pulling the center cap. After fighting with them for a month, I got them to buy me a used matching rim.

I've had the Vizio bar with surround and powered sub in the living room for over a year now. Not sure of the model, but has performed well on both music and movies. Has surprised me a few times with the low notes on movies. Music of any genre sounds great at all levels.

Your heart will still be in the same place, no matter where you go is what I was getting at. Believe me I've tried more than once. Although the break is always good. Either way Its only life after all. Tomorrow will always come one way or the other my friend. Is nothing a grilled cheese sammich and time can't fix.

Water softener motor was broke and malfunctioning, so was stuck on the back flush cycle. W and I replaced in under 2 hours, including removal. I replaced the flow regulator on the RO system too, as that's the only other self regulated thing that could of failed.

Is a noodle roller mandatory to make lasagna noodles, or can they be rolled flat and cut by hand?

Speaking of karma, I got a $350 water bill this month. I can't count how many things have broken lately. They said If I found and fixed the leak the would adjust the bill. So I spent all day replacing my water softener after finding it to be the culprit. Yeah to adulting.

Don't beat yourself up too bad Matt. Everyone has shortcomings and has experienced that felling at some point. Be it they did disgusting/dishonest things because they felt entitled/needed to survive at the time, or are and "honest by default" person that didn't live up to their ouw expectations of the linear life they projected. Don't take this as bragging or glorifying, as I generally only speak of the darkside of my past for two reasons. To help someone else and when it's necessary to make amends. These are rules for me, as I have done things that were pretty disgusting in hindsight. I was a wild man most of my life and had a personality of 40 grit sandpaper. I was very abrasive to people as my defense survival mechanism. I was never a dishonest person, just a condescending prick. This isn't stuff I talk to many people about about. I trust you guys and for me the ability to be able to admit my faults to someone I don't feel judged by is key to getting it out of my head. I will never be a completely wholesome person, but I can be less of a prick and tread lighter through life. As far as being somewhere else... no matter where you go, there you are. You are going to have ride out the storm brotato chip. You have a good heart, and will end up where you a meant to be in the end. That is just the way it is when others human will is involved. You are still there because someone cares and sees something better in you.

I got the new Samsung 8000 series TV for the bedroom. Figure if I'm going to watch TV better watch it in style. All I can say is DAMN the dynamic range of color is beyond ridiculous.

My Christmas was good. We basically skipped Christmas last year and went to Hawaii, so my wife could have a break from my family. I don't blame her but it was nice to have the traditional Christmas again this year. As far as New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, I worked both of them. Has been crazy cold here but that is nothing new. I know Texas, Georgia and Hawaii have all received more snow than where I live though. Sounds like you have a low operating temp thermostat installed. ( or perhaps took it out at some point) The easy fix is put a piece of cardboard in front of most or all of your radiator. Otherwise put a higher rated thermostat in for the winter.

Definitely made me reevaluate my values. Just to make sure I was honoring the right things. So easy to get locked up in life just grinding away, then one day I pop my head out of the trenches and wonder what the fuck is going on. Made me realize my own sanity and personal health was way higher than saving face.
