most effective use of Luxury Liner Pro?
j-roadtatts replied to j-roadtatts's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I did do the whole floor with dampener, probably overkill if you are using closed cell and vinyl barrier. I am doing just the single layer because I have it apart to do the liner and won't ever take it apart again. The Dampener DOES make a nice CLEAN and SMOOTH surface to glue to. The car did seem very little bit quieter from just the dampener as I'm working in it. I will never know for sure if the dampener made a big difference on road noise by its self though? Only about 125 dollars worth so for ME I said f*ck it just to QUIT THINKING about it. I am working on the first piece of LLP right now, just came inside for a Sharpie marker...... Let me know what you guys think, I wouldn't start a topic if I didn't REALLY WANT TO KNOW YOUR OPINIONS......THANKS in advance. -

I emailed don my phone number, we will see IF he calls. I have read every dampeners website like 3-4 times over the last year and have absorbed most of the info. I understand the science behind the dampener, closed cell foam, and vinyl barrier. I understand why I am doing what I am doing. I would do the whole inside of the car with LLP or the likes if money grew on trees, but I am starting in the front of the car where I sit first. Then the trouble spots next, if this is good enough for me than I will call it good. Most of the outside noise comes threw the front floor, front doors, a-b pillars and front of the rear wheel wells. MOST of the rear wheel well will be encased with foam so this will probly stop most rear well wheel noise, I will only cover the front side behind the rear seat where it doesn't fold down. this only leaves under the bottom of the rear seat and the rear floors and rear doors without the LLP.(not counting the roof,I'll do last if needed) The parts I will be leaving un-done for now are easy to get back to I decide they need the LLP. The rear deck will have foam against most of the bottom so once again probly pretty solid. the other reason I am doing the front doors also because I will have 600watts to each door.(300 midrange and tweeter, 300 middbass) If you are wondering I am not doing any of the trunk at this time.(will be sealed from the passanger compartment) As you guys can see I already have a plan, but would like to hear what people think of this plan. As I already have said this is my first time with deadening, when I was younger I always just thought of making the stereo louder but understand lowering the noise floor now. I am currently more into SQ. -

Ya, I hear Don's a great guy. I read his write-up a year or so ago, I see he has his own company now. I would feel kinda bad calling him and asking about SS product though. I tryed calling Second Skin but they are gone until the 22. I will call Don So I can get this right So I am happy. I'm sure I will need some more stuff so I can give him some of my Money for his time. I would still like to hear from a consumer or two if there are any. -
Got 40sq ft of dampener put in today. I got my nephew to help, he did all the rolling and I did the fitting. Good to learn while you earn. He just turned 18 and got his first car his week. The car he got already has all the power and 4 ch rca's ran. We are wiring up an amp, his two 12's and some front speakers probly tommarow. He's a lucky little f*cker to have his uncle to help him out.(and give him a sweet custom tatt) Anyways here's some pictures of the progress..... I still need to do the the front floor and decide where I'm doing the Luxury Liner Pro? I am planning on doing the front floors and the front doors first, then maybe the front of the rear wheel wells next? That will probly be the four sheets of LLP I have. PLEASE Let me know what you guys thing because this is my first time deadening and with LLP. I would love to from someone thats used the Luxury Liner Pro? let me know what you guys think?

What a topic. I don't even know where to start. People in general like to overuse and abuse things. This can be anything from sleep, coffee, exercise, being a shop-a-holic or even work. Its not until we are no longer happy with the outcome that fell we have a problem. At this point you must decide the outcome is no worth the effort. If the thing you are abusing is something you MUST use than I suggest establishing a healthy use plan. If it is something you are using just to feel better or overcome depression that I suggest finding other things that HELP you feel better i.e. exercise, being social, building things, eating healthier, making other plans and sticking to them. Do ANYTHING that makes YOU feel accomplished and you WILL feel better. There is NO magic anwser for you. There is no ONE thing that is going to make the addiction breakable, But a LOT of little things. This will take TIME and HARD WORK, don't expect to feel better overnight. But set goals and make yourself proud. I could tell you a LIST of things that WORKED for me, but its different for everybody.

I've already played that senario out in my head. Good thing the top can easily be seen. Actually after i sprayed the undercoat on the bottom, the battery tray blends right in at first glance.

Your 18" is beautiful, a picture just doesn't begin to show how big it is. Did you make the UPS guy carry it all the way to the door? That would of been fun to watch. My UPS guy was like a Ninja, I went outside and the box was already sitting there. He was probly like "wtf".

Or you just LOVE seeing people in PAIN!!!

Don't forget to use Lock Nuts on the grounds so they don't come loose.
-
If i ever have to use the same color wire for something I put rings of black electric tape on each end of the ground so I know which is which. If it's just for a ground strap under the body you can't really get confused though. Don't forget to clean both sides of the body where you sandwich it.

Always gotta do something before you can do everthing else? I LOVE the savage yard, Wish i was comin' with. -
Got lot of little stuff done today before work. I primered, painted, siliconed and bolted the battery tray in. Sprayed the underside with alittle rubberized undercoat I had laying around. Also got all the woofer mouting holes drilled and the T-nuts installed!!! I need to finish the new spare tire mount, and I should be real close to installing the box. My car has been torn apart forever now with NO tunes, NO back seat and a shit load of trunk road noise .. I am so ready to get this system in, I just can't hurry it. With all the planning though everything should fall together Quickly when its time.

I LOVE individuality........ **** all the haters. Can't wait to see some pictures. Let's get this build started...... -
Your lucky you have room for the 18"BTL. I would too but the Honda wasn't having it. I started out only going to get the 12" but am making the 15" fit! I can't wait to see the pictures, It just never gets old seeing a fresh BTL in the box!!! If I where you, I would drill a hole, bolt the ground to the floor with a nut on the under side and run another ground under the body to the frame from the same bolt. Don't forget to clean to BARE METAL. A vehicle with a frame can NEVER have enough grounds between body and frame, Body and engine, Engine and frame. On my Chevy a couple extra ground straps between even made all the body lights brighter as they are only grounded to the body.

Coming together nicely! Pretty quick too. I remember getting that same package fron Knu, Nice wire. What does the epoxy accomplish?

Thanks. I grew up in my dad's deisel mechanic shop and he took "pride in workmanship" So you could say I learned from the best. This might explain why I build things so Heavy Duty? Also you are only as good as your tools....

The bottom only hangs about an inch under the bumper, the muffler on the other side hangs about 3" down and the tail pipe sticks from there. I don't think it should be a problem. I will spray the under side with rubberized undercoating.
