SQ_MGB's 2002 Chevy Reg cab build

I will be posting pic's today, as it's my day off. I ALSO made ALL my beauty panel's in my trunk form fit, with no screw's. I am a LOW VOLTAGE NUT and LOVE to SOLDER, and yes the soldering and heatsrink turn's 1/2 hour job into a week project. That's ok, the wiring is MY favorite part of installation. As soon as I get the sub set up I will Damplifer and LLP my door's!!!!! I can't wait the hear the difference in midbass and lowing outside noise!!!! I set up MY H100 in the trunk this time, So it will be easier to hook a laptop to and do MY RTA. I took out my rear's also SO imaging is already better, AND WAY EASIER to tune. Just got the front's working yesterday and got a gOOd ear fuckin'!!!!! sub hopefully tomarrow? Who know's though when your as anal as me about detail's.lol.

    ACSchank's Build Log

Lookin' good. I can't wait to do my doors! I was wondering if you glued the CCF and MLV down? Did you glue/tape the seam's and edges? I just got done wrapping the rear wheel wells and that alone cut my road/tire noise in half in my car.

    power

Take a look at these, Will help you understand what you need. I think with audio battery's what's more important is max amps available at once and the rate at which they are capable of charging/discharging. Battery Ratings and Info - SSA Car Audio Forum I Have a XXXXXXX watt sytem. What battery do I need? - SSA Car Audio Forum I KNOW you are using Kinetics but the info is the same. Other wise I would call Kinetics customer service and they will help you better than ANYONE on here as they are MOST familiar with their own product and will explain your different option's BEST.

Runs of Wire for multi battery use

I will admit I am wrong in saying welding wire isn't as gOOd if not better than audio wire. I have NO fact's to back my statement, and have read both topic's about welding wire in full. I assume MOST people choose thier power because of cost. I will be the first to tell you thier will be NO audible difference from power wire. I choose my wire because of amp rating and Color, yes Color. (I hate red ). Yes I am a Young Bull.
  13. I am almost done with my sub-stage and Sound deadening So its time to start planning my front set-up. I want a midbass in the front door with my midrange and tweeter Now that I will no longer have rear's. I had been thinking of a round misbass but have heard such great things about the XS-69's and know they are same SD as an 8". I am also VERY interrested in the XS-65 comps for the mids and tweeters, but honestly have never heard any of them. I like the speaker's specs, ID customer service, and want to give my money to an American company. I will be driving 200 miles to Denver to hear them for myself before making any final decision. I am after flat response, Good sound stage, and good imaging. Dare I use the "SQ" term? I know ALOT of these things's will be achieved through tuning and placement. I am a patient guy and know that I will be tuning and adjusting for a few months after installation. NOT a problem. I will be using the 3-way mode on my PXA-H100 for the crossover, sub--midbass--midrange and tweeter. The XS-65 midrange has a natural roll-off and the crossover that come's in the comp set adjust's the tweeter ONLY. I plan on running 2 MRP-F600 amp's bridged. One for the midbass and the other for the mid's and tweeter's. both set's of speaker's are rated at 225 watt's and Eric Stevens the ID tech says these are good for 300 watt's with a CLEAN signal and SMART user plus I like ALOT of overhead because 60 year's of different studio recording style's leaves's ALOT to be desired sometime's. Like I said in the title I am ONLY planning at this point, I aleady have front comp's installed to get me by for now. I am open to suggetion's and will consider raw drivers if someone want's to take the time to help me pick them, I get a headache trying to go through all the options at Parts Express and Madi-Sound.

Interesting, not here. LOL. Although I've had better Mexican food up here than in Texas. And more authentic. I've had super bad luck eating in Texas in general though. TEXAS..........Well there's your problem.

Starting to plan my Sound Stage.

When I stared this topic, I had been tossing around a ton of different Idea's for my front set up, just to get the ball rolling. I already have some 6x9 mid's is why I started the topic with just adding 6x9 midbass, because when it come's to output there's no replacement for displacement. Well As soon as I opened my mouth, I started anwsering my own question's.(as usaul, I am a young bull) I have took note's of EVERY piece of info provided in this topic, and spent ALOT of time reading about how speaker's interact with each other and themself's. I am as sharp as a tack when it come's to math, and have SOLID understanding of the x-over point's, order's, frequency's and octave's involved. I on the OTHER hand am TERRIBLE with word's and terminology SO please bear with me. As far as tuning, I am only held back by my lack of experience and knowledge, not lack the mathematic skill's. As far as install I am only limited by my own desire's. (and money ) This will be my first set-up with No back speaker's, so I am sure it will take a minute for my ear's to adjust. But I am REALLY EXCITED because I think ALOT of my problem with the destructive destortion was the rear's. I am also excited to use the H100 to it's full potential and think ALOT of what I am Lacking could be accomplished by going active. This will be my first active set up So I do think K.I.S.S. is important, Also I Know I will be happier with the point source set-up. With all that being said, I Will play around with the type-r's some more to get use to the front only sound, but will ultimatly probably be installing some 3 or 4 inch fullrange's on the dash and an 8" mid-bass in the door. As far as output, 3" fullrange > 1" tweeter and 8" mid-bass > 6.5 woofer, SO I think i should be happy by the "no replacement for displacement" rule. I like to listen with the response curve as flat as possible other than my sub peaking the VERY lowest note's. I starting to realize I like the more natural sounding speaker material's and what they bring to the table. As far as fullrange Speaker choice's I am leaning torward's the TB w3-1318SA, or the w3-1364S. I think the lower Qts of the 1318S will be better in my app.? but am not sure? As far as a Midbass choice's I haven't even began to study what make's a good mid-bass for MY app.? As you can see I am taking my time as to understand everything I am doing. Thank's for the input and knowledge, I take this matter VERY seriously.

  24. j-roadtatts

Starting to plan my Sound Stage.

I am finally going to have the front speaker's playing again and probably a few day's without a sub for testing. My question is when testing different phasing combination's on the front comp's to eleminate the suck hole, Do I want the T/A on or off?

BTL on order, What size bolts?

Do I have to use washer's with the allen head bolt? I like the way IT looks without washer smashing the surround, I was going without but seen you guy's talking so though I'd ask. Thanx Nick.
