To get the spare out, I must set the battery up out of the way. THIS EXPLAIN's why the battery leads are looped instead of straight, SO I dont have to unhook everything. I know the battery install would be cleaner with straight runs but unless I enter in an SQ comp they will stay this way. I travel alot and live in the mountains so a spare was a must, PLUS i needed my Feiro sized trunk for my luggage. I know most ppl will tell you to use cardboard for a template but I use a piece of MDF. Infact if I wasn't SOOO ANAL I could of used my template as there was little to NO difference. I built LOG CABIN'S for 5 year's, so I will tell you the trick. If the panel is sliding left for example, first determine HOW far the piece needs to travel left to reach its final resting place, we will use 1" for this example. Now when marking The 1" most ppl don't take in to account to ONLY measure 1" STRAIGHT OUT TO THE RIGHT on a level plain. So any defining point in your scribe will stay on A LEVEL LINE. I usally make square line's off the left edge at all defining points and just measure and mark a 1" on a level plain in a few spots and then connect the dot's. They make a scribe tool with Leveling bubble's for working on round log so you can keep the marks out on a level plain but problaby overkill for our app's. The trunk is NOT all the way done yet, Is why no overall pic's yet. Probably later today.
