Living the dream! How have you been? Life has been good! I figured I better come see how my brothers are doing?
-
Hummm.... The 8" might work for a midbass. hook it up active and see what it sounds like, you never know. Obviously you would have to ditch the comp midbass and xovers. So then you'll need 3 seperate pairs of amp channels to run active, unless you have a processor. If you can get here, I will ink you for free Bro. Then you can demo the full-ranger set-up.

Hey Guy's, What's been going on?
-
I listen to about the same genre's of music as you do Jordan, and I am very happy with the full-ranger's up high on axis and active, with a big mid-bass. This set-up is efficient and works well bc the full-range driver requires minimal power, and are cheap. This set-up sounds good bc I can hear all directional sounds from the FRer's, which is important with these genre's. Next, I am not married to a mid-bass so I can run whatever driver's I feel like and cross them low enough that they don't require being mounted up high or on-axis. I personally would give the comp set a listen and see what you think of them before doing anything else. If I where running passive and low powered, I would want to mount all three drivers vertical on the a-pillar. My next option would be as high and as far foward as possible on the door, including the mid-bass. The latter idea would work well since you have the old door cards to work with. Plus IIRC the metal cones in that comp set sounded better off-axis, so thats two for the door. Seperating the driver's in the comp set is a bad idea due to T/A. Mounting both set's is a bad idea for the same reason. If I where going to run active I would start with better driver's. When are we going to finish up your sleeve? I am still into doing the work. On a lighter note, I would love to see Sean stuffed in a VDub Beetle.

Indeed I hate painting anyways, but sanding and bondo just top the cake.

Awesome job Markie!! -
Had to re-boot my Anni's laptop this week... was showing blue screen of death. She lost all her pics and such, but I don't care. Happy I don't have to buy another one.

Sorry to hear you are throwing in the towel on this.... At the same time happy you have a grander plan in mind. Its been a VERY busy year for me also, as I had to sinch up last year also to get to my goals. I will add that I still have work to finish on my car, but have not gave up. Good luck with everything. -
The sound deadener is looking good homie!! Keep up the killer work.

Whats up my SoCal Brother?

Emailed the Bayliner and the older Sea-Ray guys too about trading. Seeing as hunting season is coming, you never know...
-
I agree, as I am in the begining phase of the plan anywho. I DID send an email to the guy with the 23" Sea-Ray offering trade for most of the payment, SO we will see. Can't hurt to ask as we are close to Moab and a bunch of other hard core trails. Thanks again.
-
Oh My... What do we have here? Looking foward to more progress....
-
Thanks for taking time to point me in the right direction. I definetly want a cuddy, as I will be camping and sightseeing as much as doing watersports. I am definetly up for a Sea-Ray. My dad has a 29ft one that has never let us down. At this point I need to sell my Blazer as I haven't used it in two years and it costs me a grand a year to just sit. (plates and insurance) I plan on offering it in trade until I sell it, I figure the worst they can say is no. other area's near me, if you feel like trolling more. http://rockies.craigslist.org/ http://denver.craigslist.org/

I would love to try wakeboarding, otherwise I will be skiing, slalom skiiing, knee boarding and I am sure a torpedo for the kid's. I knew you would say that the Bayliner is the el'cheapo route (which I agree with) and am definetly open to your thought's and reasoning, AND suggestion's. I will only use the boat 2-3 times a year at VERY best, and will probably sell within 5 years, as I tend to hit things as hard as possible until I am burnt out and then move on. So for me, it's dollar per use that I base my decision on. I can rent a boat for 1500-2000 for a week or buy a cheap one and use it 10 time's and still get money back out of it.

Best component speaker system question ?
j-roadtatts replied to sa5150's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I couldn't agree with this more. Speaker placement and aiming, amp and EQ setting's, The method you mount the speakers, among other things will determine the SQ of things. Obviously you don't want to buy complete crap, but any quality comp set will produce good sound if set up right. RMS rating is a poor thing to use as a decision maker, as a driver with a lighter cone is going to be more efficient and just as loud with less power. I personally like to give drivers about double their RMS rating for unclipped clean power that can give the peak's needed to have proper dynamic's in my music. -
Looking GoOd Homie!!

We all know that B.O.A.T. stands for "bust out another thousand". Actully I have been trolling for a boat too, although it won't be anything fancy. Probably a 88-98 Bayliner with a closed bow. Something I can go do some water sports with. Something like this would do. http://westslope.cra...2510960875.html
