Looking for some help with a box for my Zv4
j-roadtatts replied to Syphlyn's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
IIRC Torres measures down the center. If the port uses a wall that continues past the port, the inner wall of the port should be phisically half the ports width shorter. So with a 4" wide port, measured down the center, will need the inner port wall 2" shorter than where the port ends. The speaker still see's the extra port volume, and that volume is part of the port volume. Not the net volume. This could cause the "miscalculation" you heard of. Has been awhile since I used the Torres, but was accurate for me. -
Sweet score Matt!!

I would guess the confusion with the Torres calc comes from the port length being measured down the center, not the length of the inner port wall. As with any program you must enter the numbers in the correct sequence. Port area has a lot to do with power being fed among other things. Generally you can't go wrong with more port area. Have you tryed modeling with WINisd? Would be a good start. -
I guess the trick is knowing how it will feel once its broke in.

Last time we spoke about mattresses Matt, I was liking the Simmons Hatteras iirc. I haven't test drove any since then. Main complaints with the current one are shoulders and hips not sinking in, causing numb limbs. Waking up every time the other half moves or gets up and of course overheating. I see the Kingsdown has the individual wrapped coils. Only two places in the state that sell them though. I am pretty sure I prefer inner coil over foam, individual wrapped of course. The layers they put on top is where it gets confusing. I am sure they all have there applications. As with most things though, the right thing can be very counter intuitive.

The wifey wants a Tempurpedic pillow she tryed out and liked. Thing is like a 120 bucks. Edit: is a beautyrest comferpedic pillow I believe.

My current mattress is a Serta Perfect sleeper Princess. I bought it after sleeping on one in a hotel and liked it. Plus needed a new one at the time. That was about 6-7 years ago. Still miss my mattress from before. It was a beautyrest pillow top. I bought that one 13-14 yrs ago, which I think was before the mad foam layers became the craze. What mattress do you sleep on Matt?

Was a loose oil filter, the last time that happened to me.

That's awesome that the sound is starting to meet your expectations! Keep up the good work bro.

Matt, what do you think about the new Beautyrest Black?

Looks good and thick. I have one of those mats I'm thinking is going to be used as a sound deadener on next doors I build.
