I'm doing some planning in here...hopefully in a month or so I can pickup one of the new Eclipse head units and some speakers. The only thing I've dealt with before is a set of MBQuart speakers(RSD-216 RKC-116) and an MTX amp. I don't want to take up ANY room in my trunk as nearly 1/2 will be gone with my sub. So that means no more amps at all period. Unless you guys can tell me that I could mount it under my seat or something but even then I dunno as it does cost more money. So, what speakers should I look at that can be powered and sound good off of an Eclipse head unit? I don't know many 'good' names besides what I've seen in stores. Edit: Some vitals: I need 5 1/4" component in the front, 6 1/2" in the back. Don't have a real budget yet but the cheaper the better. No more than $500 for sure. SQ SQ SQ but obviously loud enough for daily driving with the windows down on the highway. I'm driving an '06 Scion tC.

If you want to that's cool. If not that's cool too. Perhaps brand names would be suffecient

Could I mount a 4 channel or 2 channel amp under a seat and not worry about heat? Do I have to upgrade my alternator?

Where could I mount it other than in the trunk on the backseats? I'm already drawing 800W from one amp would I need to upgrade the alternator?

I already have a sub amp picked out...at any rate I doubt I could find a 5 channel that puts out 800W RMS to the sub could I? Not for under $200 for sure? What would you recommend if no amp was involved at all.

Just when I think I found a sub...people throw new subs in my face. I'm considering the Mag D2, RL-P, and A/D/S 312rs/4. I know they're all great subs. But which would be best for me? This is what I posted in my Newbie Sign IN thread: I listen to metal, rap, hard rock, alternative, trance(mostly progressive), r&b. SQ matters a lot to me...but I'm a basshead and want to be able to feel the bass pounding in my lungs when I want. Whenever I look at a sub I make sure it can hit atleast 20Hz if not 16 Hz. But it looks like I will have to compromise in car audio as those subs usually need a much bigger box than the 2 cu ft that I want to limit my box to. So I would like the bass to be atleast 30Hz or below at -3dB. But will compromise more if I realllly need to. I have a Pioneer Premier PRS-X720 amp. It's rated at 400W RMS @ 4 ohm but its birthsheet has it rated at a little over 800@ RMS @ 4 ohm.

well I wasn't having any luck with WinISD. So I'm asking the experts. I have a Scion tC and need to have as much trunk as possible. I know sealed is most always smaller than ported boxes....but aren't as loud but have better SQ generally. I want the sub to be hit 30Hz at -3dB. I play a lot of rap, metal, and trance and I want it all to be able to sound good. What size sealed box and what size & tuning ported box should I get to fit my needs?

yeah I finally got my car this past weekend. I have 1/2 the trunk space I used to(an old accord). I'm definately going to have to stick to the 1.25 cu ft sealed box as I need some trunk space left Thanks for all your help guys.

Well...I've never heard the SI Mag D2...but from what I read it sounds amazing. Help me imagine it. Compare the sub to an IDMAX or SoudSplinter rl-p or Alpine Type R or 12W7. Thanks in advance...I look forward to the replies as I am a bit excited by what you may say about it.

How much would a recone cost? I know the MSRP is $550 if I recall...how much are you actually selling it for?

I'll have 800W RMS to play with...the birthsheet by Pioneer says what they measured when they made the amp. It's goin in a Scion tC. I don't want to spend more than $200 on the sub. I found a used SI D2 for $170. Would it be worth the price difference to get a new D2?

How much of a difference would I hear between putting the sub in a 1.5 cu ft ported box and 2.0 cu ft ported box and 1.5 cu ft sealed?

ahh I see. Can you link me a picture please? How noticeably different is the new D2 compared to the old D2? Is it worth the price difference to get the new D2(I'm getting an old one for $170)? Thanks for all the help.

So 1.25 sealed or 2.0 ported to 32 Hz is what I'm hearing. Yes I'm getting a Magnum D2 or I wouldn't posted in the Stereo Integrity section of this forum...that would be dumb Krazie - I hope that's more than 1.25 cu ft cause you have very little trunk space left and I was hoping to have more than that to work with. Hey what's up. I just got into the car audio scene because I just got a '06 Scion tC and want to upgrade the sound. In my old car I had an Eclipse head unit, MBQuart components in front and back, and an MTX amp powering it on. I didn't do much research...just went to CarToys and picked out what i liked in my price range. In my tC I plan on dropping a sub...so I've been doing a good deal of research through forums. I found this forum when a member referred me to it. I want to gain knowledge through you guys and share whatever I have learned myself on the way. So far I have picked out an amp but I'm still having a hard time figuring out what sub I should get. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Other than that, I'm 19 go to UT Austin, parents live in Ft Worth. I was once studying for a mechanical engineering degree but I now hate college and see it as a waste of time as much much much more money can be made through investing, stocks, and the like. I'm also into the whole Home Theater scene...I just purchased a projector and will be getting an audio system setup. I also play World of Warcraft but lately haven't because I got a job finally and well it gets boring after you've done most everything in the game. This forum doesn't seem like the other ones that are plagued with idiots that would rather flame than help each other out. I look foward to being a part of this community. Anyways it's 4:30 am and I need to sleep
