How are you going to use bolts on an enclosure to join the edges?? I know there is a chemical that is used specifically to do these types of things. But I forget what it's called. It basically welds the plexi together. I think that would really be the correct way to do it. Bolts would look ugly anyways. Right, bolts or screws would kinda mess with it. I sent an emai to the people from that link, hopefully they reply soon. Also let me know if you figure out what the chemical is called, I could use that info haha And he means like predrill a hole and instead of a wood screw use a bolt, minus the nut on the other end. I do believe thats what hes saying.. Ok for the bolt, you could do it. This is what you would do. Ok you have the joint (top and side) so to speak, predrill the hole 1 size smaller than the bolt, and either tap the hole with the same size and thread as the bolt or you could tap the hole with the bolt. You will probably still need a adhesive of some type. Actually you will need to use an adhesive. Also might want to use a washer and countersink the hole so that the bolt will be flush with the outer wall. very helpful, and I definitely plan on the adhesive or at least SOEMTHING to seal the lil gap. I still need to find that stuff that 'welds' the pieces together. What if I just use a blowtorch and melt the edges and in the process kinda round the edges so its smooth all the way around? Either way, I still need to look into it more and I need that reply from the people. I WILL do this, its an awesome idea lol If you don't want to use an adhesive that chemically bonds the two edges together, use clear type II or III silicone caulking. I don't think the blowtorch is going to work for something like this, in theory yes, but reality no, virtually impossible to regulate right to get a good clean seam. Yea I hear that.. oh well Id just like something that sealed down to the littlest particle lol

Well just the fact that it would be cool, maybe have some cool logos inscribed on the bakc of it with lights maybe.. But a clear box would be cool. And yea how would someone go about cutting it??

SQ properties I am not sure of. The mayhems are a big su,b you might want to go thicker to be safe. True that, and its worth a shot. Alright thanks! Im going to try it!
-
yea I was thinking 1" myself, Im going to try to build the box for 2 mayhems. So it weighs substantially more? And it would have the same SQ properties right?
-
I thought about it, but at $850+ per sub Id wanna push them to their potential, and F that, Im not gonna waste that much on amps and what not. If those are your flavor then more power to you lol but Mayhems FTW over here
-
Ok I am planning on getting 2 Fi BTLs Dual 1Ohm, and running them to a Sundown 3500D, but I seen the Mayhems and started thinking, I know you cant really hear the difference, but Im looking for the most, should I get two Dual 1 and run them to a 4500D? the box will be 2.5^3, 32-34hz IDEALLY. Electrical will be big 3, not sure if I 1 or 2 XS3100s, should run around 13+V(you get the point), 220A HO alt. Budget : $7500, gotta love the army bonuses.

Because of the video? why? BTLs look exactly the same when playing that song. Not only that, Ive just wanted to see that kinda action. I picked these because people told me they sound smoother and they take the same if not a lil more than the Fi, plus the Xmax is just a wee bit greater, and when Im looking for more BASS, that 2mm and +500wrms counts, not to mention the supposed smoothness.

Check the link above and quit yelling. THNX AND I WASNT YELLING Acutally you are yelling so stop typing in all capital letters, turn your ALL CAPS/CAPS LOCK key off. All his PW must be in caps lock lol

scratch that.
-
Id go with the 18, I got the same car too lol
-
jizz... in... my.. pant.. SOLD! Im definitely getting two of these instead of BTLs now..

Because those arent as powerful, I want to win some dB comps too, so if I get the Mayhems I should be able to.. And alright thanks, Ill definitely do that.. doesnt sound like a bad idea. The speaker does not produce any power. But your goals point you towards the BTL's or Mayhems. Ha thanks, I know where Im going just half-baked plan but yea, which one in your opinion? BTL or Mayhem? Really, flip a coin IMO. Both are well built drivers and both have serious potential to get very very loud. The BTL can be customized to your needs if that helps. True that, customization is nice.. Alright thanks

Its not that, Im just looking for the absolute loudest with the best quality possible, if that makes sense. Im pretty sure that the decibel difference from the xcons to the mayhems is noticeable. By NO means am I slandering or insulting, just for my wants/needs I want/need as many watts flowing through my subs as possible... Im weird like that. I think Im gonna go with Mayhems, the 4500D and 1 XS3100, would that work for what my goals are? Ya. You should be fine with that. The mayhems will sound better than the btls. What are you running for a front stage? I havent made up my mind what I should do for front stages yet, but I want the best quality possible, any ideas?

haha whats with the stars? and you mean bladeIce? I know that guy has like 12 18s I think..

What is the fastest you have gone

so then the Mayhems have better quality? I want loud but I dont want it to sound like straight ass.. you know what Im saying? And I cant get exact dimensions right now, Im overseas but I go home soon, I know 2.5^ft ea would work, but bigger Im not 100% sure. and what should I use for bracing? I was told just using the best glue and screws plus 1" MDF would be good?
-
Thanks for the chart, but if I wire the voice coils up on one sub to make that sub a 2ohm load(series) then do the same with the other, that would give me a 1ohm load to the amp, which is what I want.. But as far as trunk dimensions, I had 2 12s in there before, I KNOW these will fit as long as the internal volume is 2.5, my cars a lincoln LS 01, and how am I all over? I want the 1ohm load to the amp, so do I get the BTLs or the Mayhems, would it be worth the extra $500 MAYBE to get the more powerful amp and subs? I know not to 'blow' this money, which Im not. I just know you pay for what you get and asking if the little bit of extra cash would be worth it in the long run.
-
ok thats what I meant, 2.5^ft each, forgot to put that. but yea the +500wrms(1kwrms total) difference.. so would it be worth it?
-
How are you going to wire the same subs to both .5 and 1 ohm? It can't be done. Id wire the voice coils in series on each sub for a 2ohm sub, then run them parellel to the amp for 1 ohm load, then switch boxes, and switch wiring setups Im not gonna use a 32Hz box for comps.
