Well, as you can see by the title, I'm experiencing some significant voltage drop at my amp. It's an SAZ-1000d and my alternator is a 240a Iraggi. I have just one battery under the hood. It was sitting idle at about 13.3 at the battery and amp. Full tilt on music, it stays at 13.3 at the battery, maybe dropping .1v, but at the amp, it can drop down into the 11.5 range. The wiring for the amp is probably too small, it's a 4 gauge wiring kit I got pretty cheap on sonicelectronix.com, so I'm guessing that is probably my problem. The amp says it uses 4awg, but the 4awg I have might be on the small side, I'm not sure. What do you think?

Just be aware with this site that the specs for nearly all of their gear is either based off of max power or is just completely wrong. I would suggest looking for a head unit on one of the other sites, then check this for a better price.

I'll agree with Woofersetc.com. Also Sonicelectronix.com is a good choice. The thing I like about woofersetc is the fact that they have a nice selection of higher end gear then sonic, but prices on stuff seem to be similar between the two sites. Sonic has a nicer site and sometimes has more specs on the gear they sell, especially decks. Haven't used SSA, but I wouldn't hesitate, although I don't think they sell alpine decks....

Well, assuming the voltage gauge on my dash works right, it doesn't seem like the voltage goes up with higher rpms when the alt is warm. If it's cold, it'll sit comfortably at 14v. I mean, it could be the gauge is affected by heat and shows lower voltage then it really is, so I'll have to test that somehow.

Car's that make you want to buy a poster like you used to as a kid

I agree. It's got the grill of an old gullwing, which I think looks dumb If that's what they were trying for, then they succeeded... -
So I don't get what you are saying. You say that if u are not using large enough wire for the amp, you will see voltage drop, but you are saying that's not my problem? BTW, here's the wire kit I have. I actually bought it to hook up a 600w Hifonics amp years ago, and it worked fine for that. If I were to replace the wire, I'd probably just get 1/0 and use a reducer adapter. That way I can upgrade easily in the future. Also, another question sort of relating. I'm pretty sure I'm using the jeep's stock alternator regulator. I'm basing this assumption from the fact that when I installed my alt, I just connected the stock connections to it as well as the big 3. I've noticed when my car is cold, I have pretty good voltage, right around 14, but when the engine starts to warm up or if it's warm at the start, the voltage sits lower, like at 13.4. Is that normal, or should I look at getting an external regulator or something?

Maybe you should try some better wire. Checking your grounds, fuses. See if your subs are wired right. What would I be checking on the grounds and fuses?
-
Right. Personally, I leave my sub level at 0 on the HU. I don't turn it above that, only down sometimes, but I use my amp's remote knob to adjust the bass volume normally. Yea, set the gains at the highest volume you'd normally play at. I just don't know if the sub level adjustment is boosting the signal if it's above 0, so I leave it at 0 to be safe.
-
I would keep the sub level at 0. I'm assuming you know how to correctly set the gains with a DMM. calculate how much power the amp should put out at the impedance your subs are wired to in voltage or amps and then turn the gain knob until you reach that number on the DMM. The amp clipping light may come on because the input signal is already clipped. I never used an audioque amp tho, so I'm just guessing.

second that!! so its you! hah, thanks for the comment and rating but how? I know its got a decent voltage going with my 2 batteries although my alt is stock, I dont get light dimming or signs like that so what else do I need to do? Amp clipping light comes on through some songs at that volume aswell! Haha, actually, the comment was me.

I need help picking out a demo vehicle
Nirvalica replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
I agree. From what i have seen every one will come in to "hear" an insane wall setup, but when you take lets say 2 12s and get them loud as all hell it seems more affordable to customers who are looking for daily setups. As well as the ones who want the set up 3 or 4 15s. my .02 I agree. The reason you have a demo vehicle is to attract customers to your product or your shop. You don't want something that is seemingly unattainable or highly impractical to them. Yea, it's cool, but I don't think you will attract as many customers as a smaller setup. You want something that is fairly practical and reasonably attainable for potential customers, but still impressively installed and put together to highlight the positive attributes of your product or shop's installation abilities. -
Which is why most people choose not to believe or even acknowledge such things I think it's more like things like this can't be proved by science or anything really because our senses aren't really scientific, these phenomena tend to not be easily recreated in a scientific manner for tests and really the only proof is eyewitness testimony and memory (and we know that can be significantly flawed sometimes, especially during a traumatic or seemingly traumatic event). For example, that guy who said the box flew off the fridge. He might not have really seen it happen or if he did, maybe it just fell off like a box normally would. Since he assumed it was paranormal, his mind kind of connected the dots from what he knew[ that happened to what he thought happened to make it all work together. If you notice, usually freaky things tend to happen when there is a similar external influence (stories, movies, ideas, mentally psyching yourself out). Take my paralysis dream thing for example. Earlier in the day, freaky things seemed to happen and we were kinda joking around saying it was like paranormal activity and shit (not like the movie, this was years before that). If we just kind of shrugged it off and not attributed earlier events as paranormal, I probably wouldn't have had that paralysis dream thing or if I did, I probably would've just shrugged it off as i woke up from a bad nightmare or something.

That's what I mean though. Most people will have that happen and just think nothing of it, but if it happens to the guy who really believes he's haunted, then the reason for it was a spirit or something. Our minds are powerful.
-
actually yea, now that I think about it. The scream I heard sounded kind of "blurry", if sound can be described like that. I could tell what it was, I could tell where it was, how loud it was, etc, but I didn't hear it in focus. I didn't get loud noises in my head except for the blood pumping. No static or banging either, but I do understand what you mean when you say the auditory system isn't fully running. It's sorta like that. Like when you fall asleep in class and then the sound sort of fades back into your head and u jolt awake.

I'm just skeptical about hauntings and good and evil spirits and stuff. I feel like it's all or mostly a mind trick. Like because he thinks he's haunted, he's more likely to interpret unknown events as paranormal activity rather then just sumn weird that happened. Maybe there was a mouse on the fridge that knocked over the box or sumn... Or maybe he moved it when he was drunk and just forgot. I'm not saying the guy's a liar, I'm just skeptical to attribute inexplicable events as being paranormal simply because a cause of the event isn't seemingly obvious.

I believe he's using RocketDock, or a similar program. It's a real timesaver... you can auto-hide it, and have your icons pop out when you mouse towards the edge of the screen My dell came with the dell dock, which I really liked. It's made by a company called stardock, and you can download object dock for free, which is completely customizable. It's neat, but I must admit, I don't use to too much with windows 7. I just have the programs I use most pinned to the taskbar. I like that function a lot

could just be mentally unstable. Some people who do a lot of hallucinogenic drugs start to hallucinate when they are sober as well. It's like their brains messing with them. My friend who used to do a bunch of drugs said he used to see his mom pop up everywhere, especially when he was doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing.
-
I get this too sometimes, but I never remember until it is happening, and even then I can't predict things, I just remember it. It could be BS and my brain is fuckin with me tho. Story to do with sleep paralysis. In the middle of the night while sleeping over at my friend's house, I inexplicably jolted awake to hear what sounded like a woman scream upstairs and some footsteps like someone was coming down stairs. I froze in fear. I couldn't move any part of my body except my eyes. We were the only ones in the house and both downstairs sleeping on the couches. It took a good 15-30 seconds till I could react and wake him up. It freaked me out, especially because some creepy shit happened earlier in the day, but it's not that interesting. Only time I've ever had that happen where I wake up and can't move but am fully conscious.

Does it cost money to become a member? If so, I might as well buy the cd off amazon lol. *ahem* Well my pet dragon mentioned something about a Pirate Bay, but SWIM knows nothing of such things Your code has me puzzled... I got the pirate bay part. I've searched there with no luck.

Like they said, it's just that they don't recommend sealed boxes for the BL, BTL, and IB3. They are designed for ported enclosures for the BL and BTL and Infinite Baffle for the IB3. The Q is designed for sealed. They will all work in any box, but some are optimized for certain types of boxes.
