Good luck getting an alt in there or doing the big 3 lol. I did the big 3 and it was quite painful, ratchet extensions are pretty much required to get the bolt off.

I really like the way that looks. If I seal my car again I think I would try the same approach.

You could get two of these Stinger Wire Coupler Ebay Should work fine, I would put electrical tape over them or something though to prevent grounding. Cheaper than fuse holders and less resistance.

While I would also suggest a whole new set up, if you wanted to just add a sub and keep your current speakers without buying a receiver for the speakers you can do so. Just open up the logitech sub and snip the sub's wires, and run the other speakers as you normally would. To get a signal to the sub amp (you would need an external amp for this), split the 3.5mm jack into two outputs, plug the logitech system for the speakers in and a 3.5mm to rca adapter to the amp. The above setup is ghetto and will not sound as good as a whole new set up would, but if you are tight on cash and can't do it I think this is an acceptable temporary alternative.

When I grounded my RCA's I used a couple of couplers. I soldered a wire with an ring terminal on the other end to the coupler, securely grounded the coupler, and plugged the coupler into the head unit and rca into the coupler. Another crude way of doing this is looping wire around the rca output on your head unit and plugging the rca in so it makes a snug connection between the shield and the head unit chassis. You can also ground near the amp, but if the head unit is causing the noise it's better to ground at the output. It sounds like the bass amp might be your issue however. For a quick test, just take a piece of wire and touch it to the rca's shield and then to some sort of ground. Hope you get your issue fixed, I absolutely hate alternator whine and it plagued me for a while (damn pico fuse in pioneers).

I don't think this amp is intended for daily use anyway. You could put well over the rated current for a short period of time with any given wire size. It's not going to instantly melt or anything, over time it will. That being said, music is dynamic and it is not going to be pulling 1000 amps continuously unless you love sine waves. So even if you did use it daily, 3 runs of 0 awg is fine. They could have gone overkill by adding another set of inputs, but that would cost more and add more variables to the system.

Slightly off topic, but I had a 12" LI @ 32 hz in 2.5 cubes and it was great. I'd recommend just getting a new box, it will hammer the lows.

I'm using an IA 40.1, I just need to save up to get a DC power alt so I can power it properly lol. They've actually been in for a while I just don't have a meter, I'm probably hitting somewhere in the upper 140's though (pretty hard to judge though). sweet, how much power does the IA 40.1 make on the sub channel (or it's a monoblock one channel?)? It's a monoblock rated at 3600 Wrms @12v, and people say it to do anywhere between 4-5K on 14.4 volts. Oh, and it looks bad ass lol.

Why not just dampen the tahoe and brace the trouble spots? A layer of damp pro all around isn't going to stop much of the vibration caused by 2 21"s. Until then, just turn down the gain when you don't need it to be so loud. I believe the 40.1 has a remote gain, it would be easy enough to use until you can properly stop the flex.

Haha, the big three is quite the pain in my car. The alternator is underneath tons on stuff and the only way to loosen or tighten the bolt is to use tons of rachet extensions. The engine block ground is underneath the airbox and tons of hoses. Needless to say, if my dad wasn't a master volvo mechanic I would have been screwed lol. So no, it's not just you.

They don't really compare. The W7 is an SQ oriented driver capable of high output, more simiar to an Xcon. The BL is an SPL driver that can sound decent on music. If getting loud is what you are looking for then get the BL, the cone area and power handling are going to make it much louder. It is all install dependant though, a W7 in a good install would be louder than a BL in a lousy install. Also, you should probably take a look at the noob posting guidelines considering you didn't state any goals, budget, or anything relevant to the question really; comparison threads like this are generally frowned upon due to the fact that most of them are apples to oranges types of comparisons. I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but you aren't going to get much help without this information.

Hmmm... lol. I started with hu, then speakers. Then I got a different car and started with a h/u and got a subwoofer and an amp. Then I got another car and used the same stuff for a while, upgraded the speakers and later upgraded the subwoofer. This was all while I was in high school though, so the budget was pretty low. After I got some money up I deadened some trouble spots in the car and sealed/deadened the doors. Then I really thought over and over about what I wanted to do for my major system upgrade. Read lots of reviews about different speakers flip flopped a million times lol and finally chose the set I have today. I already had an amp I bought on a whim that would power them nicely so I used that. Then I thought about my sub stage FOREVER, it was the hardest decision for me to go with the Xcon's or the IA DP's, and finally decided on the Xcons. I found a great deal on an IA 40.1 which I had wanted for a long time anyway and it has plenty of output for this system. I guess I didn't take the best path but I learned so much along the way and I still have a lot to do to finish what I've started. You are right though, that is how a lot of people look at it in the beginning.
