also, something inportant i need to ask... which might lengthen the time till i get the 4 channel amp... theres an alpine amp, 1000w at a pawn shop, its digital, not sure what type, but its mono block. he said its a500$ amp, and hes selling for 275. and if i traded my amp i have now thats powering my sub, hed sell it for 175. cuz i have a 600w 2 channel amp for the sub. but shouild i do that? im planning on a 10" Fi BL sometime this summer. you think that amp would push it? orshould i sell the sub i have now and the amp, and buy a better amp? -

so, im borrowing her mustang for a week, and shes using mine but shes got a few problems i wanna check to make sure before i do anything. 1. after about 2 hours, it all cuts off... im thinking cuz her amp gets too hot. its a dual 600w amp i think, and its powering the inside speakers, and her 10" xplod. should i rewire the inside speakers to her head unit? only bad thing is its a 4 channel amp i think. so, how would i get that working with just 1 10" sub? or should i leave that alone? 2. hermusic lately has just been cutting off for now reason. i THINK the fuse on the power wire from the amp is loose cuz when you wiggle it around the fuse, it works again. mabe i should replace that fuze mount thing? the head unit stays on, just theres nothign from the speakers. so it seems like itd be the fuse cuz i checked where it connected to the battery, and i re did that and tightend it and it still does it... i would just re do the fuse mount thing, but i dont know how to take out the chord... so i might just cut it and get a new one.. and 3, might be the same as the first, when she plugs her ipod up in the aux in port, after about 5-10 minutes it cuts off. could that be the same problem above? or what could that be? -

i think its the 0 gauge. whatever comes in the wire kits. it was scoche or whatever. and i dunno about bass boost. everything is exactly how the place that did it left it. i think she had her bass and trebble and stuff up a lil, and she has loud on. -

its not really on bumps or anything. just... when it feels like moving. liek we had it just sitting still, with the music on, then it just cuts off. but again, we wiggle mr fuse, and it works....then stops again, then wiggle, then stop, then wiggle.... you get it. we didnt do it that many times, but still -

i really dont think it was the woman. i think it was the shop, cuz she said they didnt ground it very good and she had to re do that. well, when it cuts off before 2 hours, thats when you wiggle the chord. after 2 hours, you have to turn the car off and back on. or the radio anyways. like, if the chords in the wrong place, it turns off. we were playing with it to see what it was. and its just when the chords in just the right position, itll turn off. and how can the ipod be doing that? why would they make a head unit that cant handle it? -

woot! just got a pair of rockford powers for the door speakers, and i unplugged the stock tweeters cuz these have em, and they stocks were sounding crappy. but the speakers were packed crappy. didnt give me the extra wires i needed or the lil thing to hook it to the speaker, gave me a crappy mounting thing, and it didnt fit the stock hole, so i had to drill extra holes. the alpines were almost too easy compared to this. but i wish i could show em off cuz they look cool... wonder how much money i paid for them looking cool, compared to the quality..... but im loving it now. only poblem is finding out the left right, front and back thing, and now, the speaker on my dash sounds like poop so im gonna fix that next that problem i had before... i fixed the left and right.when you balance it left, the left ones play, and same with right... but when i do the front and back, when i do back, just the sub plays, and whne i do front, everything else plays. is that normal? -
so, i just got alpine type s 6x9, and wow.... before, when bassy notes hit, it made a weird noise, but now its awesome! sounds super clear! so i wanna replace the rest, but i dont know what i want... should i go alpine all around? i dont wanna replace the 6x9s again, atleast anytime soon. i just wanna get rid of stock for now. later il upgrade to alot better everything. but right now, i think i wanna change the tweeters now. cuz they arent clear. theyre kinda.... not staticy, but like... its like theyre almost busted.i dont think they are, but it has that kinda... paper like sound. so i wanna do those next, then the door speakers, then my center dash speaker. any recommendations??

because i only have 2 white plugs and 2 red plugs... thats why i need the Ys. i have 6 chords that need to be plugged in. the 4 from the factory amp, and the 2 from the sub amp. and out of the 4 factory amp ones, i dont know which ones are left, right, front or back... -

ill draw cuz i forgot i dont have a camera...ill make it good instead of drawing, i used my wicked awesome photoshoping skills! so as you can see, it starts off my car, and from the factory amp in the car, comes that amp integration harness thing, then from there, those two "2 female to 1 male" plugs, then i only have 4 rca port things, and those 2-1 chords are hooked up to 2 of those, then my subwoofer and amp for that is hooked up to the other 2.you get it now?? i really do suck at explaining things. but i tried to make that picture as good as i can. i looked for the best looking, and easy to tell what is pictures. some of the stuff i used is niceer than the picture like the rca cables from the amp. and the input picture isnt from my car, its from a vcr i think, but thats what it looks like behind there -

what do you mean? all 6 of the chords are the same. but i only have 4 plugs. 4 of the chords are coming from my factory amp. and 2 are coming from the sub. but my crappy double din HU has nothing fancy about it but being double din, so it only has 4 plugs in the back. ive seen a friends normal sized one, and he has more than just 4... but i didnt think id have to be doing it this way -

the only reason i dont wanna hear people around town... ive heard a few already, a friend, and someone i work with... my friend likes his real bassy, with little treble, and the guy i work with sais his system (2 12" infinity) is bad ass, and gives him headaches when the volume is on -9... i listened to it, and they probably give him a headache cuz they sound horrible. sounds like the subs are trying too hard to work or something. but i really dont know too many people who know what theyre talking about when it comes o music... since most people here have sonys or something and say theyre good enough but ill go to shops and see what i can do there. theres one shop her in town that isnt set to rip everyone off. ill try there after i get paid again -

my car already has a factory amp for those speakers. but ill upgrade that later. so since i have type s, can i get type r for the rest? or do i have to make em all type s since my back is? only reason i got s is cuz thats all they had at best buy. i almost bought pioneer, but luckily i saw these -

too much power to normal speakers??
pimppistol replied to pimppistol's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
right now, i got an adapter, to where theres 4 RCA plugs, and only 4 in the back. so i got 2 male/2female things, so 4 cable are plugged to 2 plugs, and my subwoofer has 2 of its own plugs. its sounding alot better, and volume is right, but now theres no subwoofer options on the deck. i dunno why. and i have some bad bass rattle. i think its the rear speakers. gonna get some pioneers from best buy tomorrow. about 80 or 90 i think. 270w. so its sounding good now, only problem is no bass options, except for the whole systems bass, and then theres speaker rattling from i think the rear 6x9 speakers. i hope its not from the subbut i cant really tell -

ok, so i just upgraded my stock head unit to a double din non touch screen thing, JVC something. its alright. i kinda miss my other.... i miss my steering wheel controls, and i hate how my antenna goes up when the thing is on, not just when the radios on. and it sucks that my ipod would be one of the 2 it supports that you cant control from the ipod. only the head unit... but besides all that so, a few problems i might get professionally fixed tomorrow unless its a simple fix. before, i had my suboofer amp hooked up to the back speakers. i splaced into that. i know stupid, i got bitched out on another forum, which is why i have the new deck. so now, ts almost all hooked up right. the RCAs are hooked up normal this time... but it doesnt hit hard AT ALL. it kinda does... but not how i want it, and everything bass is turned up except the bass boost on the amp.... the problem i think, my car came stock with an amp to the normal speakers. so i had to get an adapter with some RCA male ends. only problem was, it came with 4, and the deck only came with 4 inputs. no room for subwoofers, the main reason i got the deck! oh no! so, my friend spliced those into the speaker wires for the deck. the ones i wasnt gonna use... do you get it? the green-+, purple-+, grey-+, and white-+...i think that was it. those were on the deck. i just hooked em up to the stock amp adapter thing. anyways, the settings on the sub amp, the input all the way up, LP freq at 80hz, and bass boost and 0. on the deck... bass all the way up, mid 0, treble is one below bass or two i forgot. subwoofer volume is all the way up, and thats at 80hz too. my problem is that for one, theres a static noise. even when the volume is off, its staticy... two, if my volume is at 0, i turn it up to 1, and its at normal listening level. goes all the way to 50. but 1 is like, too loud if i wanna talk on the phone, or even to someone in the car. its not i cant hear, its just annoying its so loud when trying to talk... and im scared to go past 15. i really dont go past 10 now. but even then, not much bass at all.theres a lil if its turned all the way to like 13-14., and thats the other problem. its like the bass isnt getting enough input, OR the normal speakers are getting too much. does any of this make sense? maybe someone here can help... if not, im gonna take it up to the shop and have them do it, and probably buy a kit to make the deck fit... its sticks out a lil too much i think. the part of the dash wont fit on right. dumb best buy didnt have any mitsubishi stuff there, or dodge, ro whatever itd be under -

pimppistol replied to pimppistol's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
they didnt give me much cable, but i used a bolt that was inside the place where the deck goes. i used the furthest one back. and i dont think its the radio either. cuz even with everythign bassy all the way up, its just not right.still doesnt hit very hard, and when its like that, the inside speakers cant handle all the bass and sounds like crap
