basssic question : does the box have to be flush with the floor ? i suggest doing a dance floor in the wheel well and FG the rest do a trick install boxx then bondo it & paint it to match the car, then you could give the sub as much clearance as needed

check the Usaci forum !!! he really like them for some reason ? he came to all the shows in Dallas / Ft Worth last year but none this year ??? ill ask Doug

this is just my opinion but the things to be conerned about killing a sub is as follows: under powering it... running power through it but not enuff to move the cone properlly, to keep the coil cool distortion. amp clipping. poor box construction i.e. leaking air everywhere but the port... and my personal all time favorite ... playing way below the ported frequincy....

why did amp makers get cheep ?
Lord Baccus posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i have noticed that the new amps have no way of letting you know where you are setting the Freq at... i.e older PPi amps have notched pod switches, so you could count the clicks to let you know what freq: you were setting to !!! if i set the SSF to 24 clicks ( counter clockwise ) i knew it would play no lower than 23Hz and if i set the LP filter to 18 clicks ( counter clockwise ) i would play no higher than 122Hz now they use cheep generic pod switchs, and nothing printed to give the user a clue as to were you are on the freq: graph... WTF happened ? are they saving that much money using the cheeper pod switch ? -

your right i guess to summerize: i need some form of control over the freq: to the amps . was thinking of getting a parametric eq or something along those lines... someone suggested the Hu control factor... after i mentioned my KDC-x979 sub pre out had failed after 3 yrs of abuse !?! i have gotten up to 151db think i shook it to death im way into SPL, but when not competing i have a box for SQ (32HZ) iv never gone strictlly SQ as i really like being able to drownd out the car next to me ! or for that matter 4 blocks from me i think its safe to say 4 - 15" dont quallify as SQ but i have a desire to hear my mids & highs, i like to hear the words as well as the bassline. my PPi Pc 4800 is really nice for pushing the smaller speakers. i am open to suggestion as i am allways looking for a better way to gitterdone... -

? sorry it is what is quoted in the discription of the user manual as for wanting higher voltage on the pre outs. i just thought it would be nice not to have to turn the gain on the amp as high to get the bass responce ( shirt ripplling ) ( hair trick )... as for the Hu it was the best thing i could afford @ the time any suggestions are welcome... i looked @ eclipse / alpine / others but all there pimpin is the Ipod/bluethooth features... which i could care less about... -
i use my DMM to help me find a good ground i look for a location that givs me a 0ohm reading... anything higher than 0ohm gives a buzzzzzzzzzzzzing in the sub with that kind of currant draw, pics please id like to see how your connecting more than 1 oga wire to the power plant up front im green with envy... i want another 3000d i only have 1 for now sorry for thread jacking

only if he's looking for sq, even then if you don't have the components to back it up, it's basically useless. actually when i had me cd8445 i had problems with not being able to turn the gain down far enough. If you already have no noise 2v or 10v will make absolutely no difference other than the gain position on your amp. thats what i was thinking ! i dont like having to turn the gain knob over 1/2 as for freq control im going to get something with a lil more meat on the bone . anyone know of a good signal processor? as of now i have a Kove Audio Aphex Ax1 great for keeping the signwave liner but does not cut or boost freq: has lil or no control over freq: -
is that a 6" port i have 2 of em @ the house

when in an SPL lane i need to pause the cd so i dont sweep too low and waffell the sub from being to far below the ported freq.... or let a note play for too long and over burp the batterys... ill get my Hu fixxed asap but think im going to get a Parametric eq with a built in line leveler that does 8/10v through the pre out
