I'll be putting some time in on this build during the week I think, about to finish up the box etc...I'll also take some vids of before/after with the deadening just to show what a dramatic difference it made -

Simple, just don't reply and move on to the next thread.

Because it's a forum, thats what it's for.

I still think two ICON 15's and two 1000d's strapped would be the perfect set up. Sounds like thats what your going for right? You won't be able to build a box for 12's then just cut bigger holes, the specs I had in mind for you was a 7.5ft^3 box tuned @ 33hz, that should do the trick very nicely for you. On a side note, I just got in one 15" D2 ICON (blue dustcap) open box, brand new never seen power. First $229 shipped takes it!

it is, but he's more SQ kind of guy. I'm just skeptical whether 2 12" ICONs can get really loud. All the impressive videos I've seen have been 3-4+ 12" ICONs. I know 2 15's can get crazy loud, so I guess I'm asking which to get If I'm going to take the back seat out and make the truck 'impractical' I might as well go big or not do it... -John 2 12" ICONs can get loud, trust me, i've "quality tested" them in a variety of boxes. Just make sure you have a box thats fits the correct specs and give them a good amount of port area to work with and you can't go wrong. From the sounds of it though, 15's might be more what you looking for. Put them in a 7-8ft^3 box with 100in^2 of port and 1500d (sundown, kicker, RF, etc..) that equation should get you more then what your looking for.

update... Well going into this build we knew that there where two huge main concerns with the "prep" work. 1. Make that roof solid 2. Get rid of all the rattles that have plagued that poor blazer (GM's poor design) So, after 4 layers deep on the roof I feel confident that we solved that problem but the squeaks and rattles where a whole new issue now that we got to put the truck back together. Since we didn't get to the doors yet deadener wise (ran out) I thought i'd run down to the fabric store and pick up all new fasteners for the doors since those cause alot of the squeaks. Added all new fasteners to the doors, carefully assemblied the rest of the truck back to it's original self and isolated only two rattles left which I feel confident we can fix tomorrow with some double sided sticky tape. Here's a few pics of the truck back together...then it's on to the box and the rest of the system...anyways, here's a few pics. -
your going from sealed to ported, 9 times out of 10 ported will be louder then sealed provided install is done right..then your going from a sub thats 300 watts rms to a sub thats 1000-1200 watts rms..its going to be feel like its your first system..lol oh incase you couldnt understand my language..the new system with the icon will kick the old systems butt x2

We ended up using expanding foam between the cross bars and the roof for added rigidity. -

Got most of the deadening done today. Burned through a huge box of it. Thanks to Second Skin Audio for such a fine product! Ok, since the roof was the worst part of this blazer, we put 4 layers on that bad boy and let me tell you, it's solid now. I hope those 18's don't rip this apart. On to the pics. -

Well that mating has got to be the best i've ever used, there's no fiber hairs that pull off it, it stays flat, and absorbs great. The resin on the other hand, is drying extremely slow, at this rate, it'll take two days to fully harden. Oh well, should be worth the wait any upgrades to the electrical system? not yet, he's got an 280amp alt, big three and more batt's in the works. yea that will all be coming soon. wow ace thats for you? your a lucky man..lol He's from "Scottsdale", that means spoiled.
