In the coming weeks, I'm going to need to install: MB Quart 5.25 component set, Orion 8002, Orion 1200D, and ReSX 15" into a Mazda 6.

For anyone that has seen the stock HU on the 6, You'll know that I'm NOT replacing it.

I'm not gonna cut and glass a new console cover for just a HU, not too mention that we would lose functionality of a in dash LCD display (showing ambient temp, radio station / disc info), as well as inset steering wheel controls. To top it off, this car belongs to somone who cares very little about the SQ & control gains of a nice aftermarket HU.

Plan is to tap the rear door speaker leads and run them into an EQ/Xover preamp. I'd rather have a EQ/Xover combo that takes high level inputs, as I'm not a fan of LOC's.

I only need a 2way xover and prolly an 11 band EQ. Maybe even an AudioControl piece w/linedriver...

Please Discuss....

I had an old AC unit years ago that actually had speaker level inputs. It was a BIT CH. Damn thing made so much noise. A simple fix was a dedicated LOC. Most Quality crossovers won't have something with hi level inputs, but I think your choices are going to be limited to a dash mount unit. I've seen many of these types accept a high level and function great with the EQ and crossover in one package.

thanks ryan...

My thinking from the get-go was that I'd have to go with an LOC... to open up more options.

For the moment, until someone pops up with something else, I'm thinking about an AC EQX... I'd installed one once before in someone elses car, it seemed alright for test listening. <shrug>

I was just giving my experience with them in the past. I would by no means rule them out. It was so long ago that I'm sure the problem(s) have been resolved. It's better off to keep the expenses down and the simplicity.

An in-dash AC Three.1 has highlevel too. I am a 6 owner myself but plan on glassin' an enclosure on the map pocket temporarily to fit an Eclipse HU and wait on the new dash kit to move it. My omnifi moves into the map pocket at that moment.

It is really an annoying dash and i alsio fond it unacceptable to lose auto climate control. Some have been able to glass a bezel but have to relocate the board and wires, too annoying and too much pain for me.
