amp rack under rear deck

Recommended Posts

real simple build that is semi-temporary. xmas im geting another amp so ill just have to cut a new piece of mdf and mount it up there.

sorry for the crappy pics... used the camera on the phone and i worked on it at night.

first i mounted a piece of mdf with bolts to the metal.

next i got another piece of mdf to bring the amp rack out so it clears the rest of the rear deck.

that pic makes the box look really crooked but it isn't haha. if anyone see anything else that look crooked or misaligned it really isn't. its just the camera playing tricks on you. lol

oh by the way. the amps and cap will go on the long section and the crossover for the components will be in the smaller recessed section.

I like the angled edge on the extra sub baffle. I don't think I've ever seen that done before.

i liked it alot too. it was done completely by accident. i cut the original hole to mount the sub to wide and had to add a baffle so my dad came up with the idea to do a nice angle cut with the table saw.

i need to pull the sub box out someday and clean it up. flare the port more and paint it up real nice. id like to try covering it but i think ill just do fat black or a texture paint.

x2

will the box be carpet or paint?

edit: u said paint, it might be cool to paint that angled piece another color. maybe do a two tone box.

ive never upholstered anything so im alittle hesitant to attempt it. ill have to read up on its alittle before i try it.

i think painting the baffle and covering the rest would look cool. idk what materials i would use.

i think covering it in a black material and doin the baffle in a white and doing the port white would look sick. it would match the sub too.

edit: or the two tone idea with the same color.
