installed the audiocontrol epicenter

Recommended Posts

i installed the audiocontrol epicenter today, and it did well on what i want it to do, add bass to the mexican songs i hear, but when i wanted something low, like jeezy or decaf music, i was dissappointed, it didnt hit that low as before, the subsonic filter is at 33hz, which my box is tuned at 33hz, how can i buy a new subsonic filter that would be lower than 30

thanks

its how it works.. i added one years ago.. same problem.. it seemed to change my tuning on music that played perfectly fine before...

no doubt it added bass to the songs that lacked before.. but changed my whole set up other wise...

i ended up running a RCA selector ... A to by pass the EPC .. and b ran thru it,... but you have to run more RCA wires, and find a place to mount a selector ...

and the end i just took it out and sold it. it will rape your subs if you use it offten,

BTW good lord. your damn near in mexico.

epic-160 is not meant for current music especially rap with heavy basslines. Why would you want to add bass to a song that already has it?

Brutality.

But, I learned something right here. I thought it was like 'roids for your sub signal :suicide-santa:

the epic 160 and what he has a a little diffrent.. but a little the same...

either way.. hes not trying to use it on current music.... hes using it on tejano.

but when the controll is all the way down "off posistion" it still changes the music..

when its off its not off.

thank you sir, thats what i was going to say, do you guys think that lowering the subsonic filter would help a bit when the epicenter is all the way down?

If he has the basic epic center that you mount in the trunk then yes it does not have an off position at all, regardless where control knob is. If you look at the device or the manual it tells you that, once it has a signal from the remote start it is turned on and always on thats why I got an Epic-160 so i can turn it on and off when I please. Honestly i really dont see how you can bypass it at all unless you unhook the signal going to or coming from the epiccenter. Regardless if you change subsonic filters or not it will still control the music and add bass to tracks.

i cant remember if i tried running a switchable remote to the just the EP its self.. to see if it allowed unchanged signal pass thru

easy was to find out.. and its a simple solution if it works!

and changing the amp peramaters will not circumvent the issues cause by the EP

If you can do it I dont see why it couldnt work and yes it would be one hell of a cheap solution. Not to be downer but I just dont see it passing signal thru if its not on but if it does it would be cool beans.

It could work but the only thing I see thats holding you back is the fact your amp does not have more than one set of inputs to allow the two sets of rca's that would come from this device to be hooked up. You would have to unplug one rca when you want to use the unit and vice versa when you dont want to use the epiccenter.

You could use y-splitters at the amp but I dont know if that would cut some of the signal down that would be going into the amp.

i was planning on using yspliters, but thought of that problem too, is there anything in the car audio world that would do that function??, if not ill just try it out and see what happens

Personally i dont know so I let some others chime in on whether there is something in the industry that could help you out. The only thing i can think of is trying to sell your unit and finding an Epic-160. This way you can turn it on and off when you desire but since you have that unit now you can try out the rca switch to see if you can get the results you want.

try to to remove the remote wire off the center.. and see if it will pass signal first.. and if it does.. let us know.

it was a fail, it didn't pass the signal, so my next step is changing the subsonic filter, but will be until monday

I had the same problem with my audio control eqs called up audio control they sent me a 30hz ssf chip and I was happy again. Take the cover off the epicenter and see if the chip is interchangeable like the eqs. The chip was 6$.
