UPDATE!!!!! NOW 4 18" FI BL'S RESPONDS N

Recommended Posts

shizzzon I understand what you were saying and all but I have a 4WD suburban I won't need air bag suspension to carry those subs. As a matter of fact I have seen and had way more lbs in my 2wd suburban and had no trouble nor witness and lowering in the suspension. Now when you broke it down it made way more sense in the price range. I see that you are a money spender also you go for all high end items. I can get my box made with everything for about $350 or 400. I have an autopage car alarm with remote start installed for about 600 and it is off the chain if a truck rides by the alarm sets off. I am not saying that you dont know what you are talking about. I am saying that you spend more money than I have to to get basically the same result. I have a boss indash dvd player installed for 420 with the detatch. I respect your advice, but what I meant by advice is breaking things down to where I know the whens and the whys. I also meant more than one opinion. The guy above you said that a good set up may cost about 6,000 dollars seeing as how I already have one BL, amps, sec system, headunit, and some wires. no offense to you man I am not like that. Thanks for the advice. And there is always someone calling names "Nuthugger" people cant think highly of a setup without being a "Nuthugger"

OK man, got some info for ya-

This came from edmunds.com-

Maximum Payload: 2099 lbs

4 18" BLs - ~ 150lbs

Box - ~400lbs

Batts - 125-215lbs

Amps- ~85lbs

Wire, etc- 60lbs

Sound deadening - 150lbs

Total so far- 970- 1060lbs

FG'ed doors + comp sets - ~50lbs

I see that your payload capacity is only approx 50% reached.

Congrats! That alone saves 3,500-5,500.

My payload is only 800lbs so i gotta run 60 3" subs to get loud, lol

Man I like the way you think! What an eye opener a giant system can be on the ol' wallet!

not saying that i am going to spend 40 00 but i am going 4 18 bl's fully loaded for $414.00 ea. so $414.00x4=1656 roughly so $1656.00+roughly $250.00(4) each for batteries+roughly $300.00 roughly for an alternator+about $300.00 for 6x9's+sound deadner roughly $300.00+installs roughly $500-1000 these are rough estimates and I have 2 amps they are Kole 5500's and I am running it and if I need to change up I will. I saw these things in action and they go pretty hard. This estimate is more around $4600.00 and I will throw in $1000.00 just to add more items and tax. so $5600.00 way less than $15,000-$25,000

Your going to need more deadner then you will ever believe......... bigger amps... more alts.... more batteries....

You "rough" estimates are WAY off

x2 i was like you and i done mi figures and is more than i was thinking BELIVE IT!!!!

Try a sony X-plod amp and 6 Pioneer single voice coil 12" subs!

Ha just kidding, but you need to go with quantity like 6-8 kicker cvr's and a 2500-3000 watt amp to have loud, setting off alarms, just loud bass to give you the results that you want in your price range.

Are there any good quality batteries that are a little less expensive than the kinetik brand?

From reading your posts, I dont see why you just buy two 18" BTL's..

Wouls save you money but it would still cost you some cash.

Would get plenty loud to, Not sure if it will be loud enough for you though.

Just my thoughts..

Why don't you just set a price range for yourself and work around that. Looking at what others have said, it would make sense that you don't want to spend that much money; so cut your system in half if you are a beginner anyways. My buddy has 2 18'' BL series in a wall in his silverado ext. cab. That hits louder than your average Best Buy system could ever dream of doing. I think you would be better off with 2 for starters and spending the rest of your money on high quality highs and mids. Kinetik batteries are pretty cheap on ebay or www.woofersetc.com. Or check out stinger. :fing34:

Why dont you just try the 2 Bl 18's and then later add if not happy. I am running 2 BL 18's with 2 sundown 1500's and its plenty loud for daily driver. And about the weight, its alot more than you think. I have 4x4 expedition and back of my truck was 2 inches lower than front after putting stereo in. Getting the daystar 2" coil spring lift for back now.

I don't think you understand what loud really is........

Have you sat in a vehicle that does 155db+ on music?

Well that's why i am asking for ADVICE for a beginner.

Go to the store. Buy a gun, buy some ammo. Point at your head and pull the trigger. I realize that might be difficult for you but if you try you might succeed.

Deka Intimidator is the only cheap AGM battery i know but they only float at 12.8 just like kinetik. XS Powermasters float at 13.2 which yields a lower voltage drop.

Are there any good quality ______ that are a little less expensive than ________?

this is a problem i see alot.

everyone is all about buying the top of the notch stuff, then skimping on other stuff they think is not important (but really is). you dont put regular gas in a Lambo. you gotta use premium. the tires are also expensive. the insurance is expensive. if you cant afford those, you might as well not buy the car.

you can do it right once, or you can do it wrong as many times as you want until you learn. ask anyone here, and they will tell you doing it right the first time will save you a lot of money in the long run.

if you cant afford it now, you save until you can, or you redesign your plan. if you want 4 18s, but you can only afford 2, thats fine. start with 2. but plan ahead enough so when you get the other pair you dont have to redo your setup, just add too it.

Yea man, my electrical system alone cost me about $1,500. The OP's will cost a lot more.

I know people who are on a budget strive for Deka Intimidators first then Kinetiks because they are cheaper than XS Powermasters...

The good thing is, i have a buddy on here that has a Kinetik AND Deka Intimidator and since i own XSs, i thought i'd meter the floats on these batts.

The XSs float at 13.2v. The Deka Intimidator and Kinetiks float at 12.8-12.9v. These batts will be more prone to higher voltage drop under load because they start off lower to begin with. 0.3v is a pretty large amount believe it or not.

i spent 2500 just on 2 amps and and two subs, he'll need to double that for his set up, thats 5 grand. my two fifteen will be louder than his 4 18's if the 18 are ran on kole amps.

You ain't lyin.

If it were me, and I LOVE headroom... I'd run around 2kw-2.5kw of amplifier rated power PER BL. Of course i would go about gettin some added options put on the BLs if i were to do that but that's what i'd do. IF smart with the tuning, will have no problems.

Not to go off topic here but this summer, i will give a good example when i power 2 DC Lvl3 subs off of a 3,500w amp and they are only rated at 600wrms per sub.

If this was over at the CA forum, you would not see any advice and people would just laugh at you. It does make me want to laugh tho.
