Playing around with a Fluke thermal imager

You are correct on that, at least in my eyes. I know you should have gable vents in your attic, or some sort of ventilation. And a vent system in your bathroom to remove the moisture in the air when taking a shower. But as far as around the windows/doors you dont want any leaks, especially in winter in a cold climate. At least this is how I feel about it... I'm not too knowledgeable in this field though lol

Playing around with a Fluke thermal imager

One of the things they are made for is to see through walls thermally for insulation and stuff. This one retails for roughly $9,000 too lol
  3. Got my hands on a FLUKE TiR thermal imager for the day so I figured I do a little testing on the heating and cooling of my subs/amps. So Playing my system full blast for about 4 1/2 minutes (usher-daddys home off decaf's zip 14) The main frequencies peak at 39hz, 38hz, and 26hz. Subs just starting to get stinky(clipping a tad to see how hot I can get them) Subs are in a 17C.F C-pillar wall after displacement, tuned to roughly 28hz. Subs are (2)18" AA Mayhem D1, amps are (2)Colossus XXV clamped at 2,800 RMS each. First image was taken within seconds after turning down the volume to 0. Shows the center(dustcap area) of the sub being roughly 132 degrees, and just next to the dustcap 108 degrees. Second picture was about ~15 seconds at volume 3/4 way to full tilt. Notice about a 10 degree drop in 15 seconds. Another ~15 seconds later, volume still about 3/4 way to full tilt... Not bad, these subs are cooling off nicely! Now to the amps, Testing on these were done while system was up full tilt. Notice my mids amp on the bottom left getting hotter than the subs amp? Roughly 105-106 degrees. Sub amp seems to be about the same, 105 degrees now in 2 spots(looks to be location of the mosfets)

    The_dude/TMH's build log...

So far they are doing good. Clamped them at 2650 watts RMS with box rise to 1ohm and voltage dropping to 12.7v. And thanks Oldskool Should have more videos up after the next show on May 2nd

Wow, it's been a while lol. Some updates:) I changed the amps(2 crescendo 3kw now) and sealed around the wall(still needs trim panel put on) It is now 152.5@36hz sealed legal Had first show of the season this past sunday(4-11) and blew a sub before qualifying Stupid clipping lol Actually burnt 3 of the 4 tinsel leads on one coil....

First and foremost big thanks to TMH for designing and building the wall(I helped but he did most) lol Tested at 150.4DB @ 31hz sealed legal on TL. Truck now peaks at 30-31hz. Also did a 151.8 outlaw... And here is a video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKejoVshwC8 Here is a video of some testing we did a few nights ago before the cops crashed the party... lol #'s changed to 150.58@38hz(did a 150.8 but wasn't on video, so we will go with a 150.58 lol) Here is a flexx video and showing off some oldies
  9. Still have to install the rest of the mids/highs in front doors, waiting for it to warm up outside to work with the fiberglass... New build log 2 18"s inside

I did break a shock(heard a big pop noise and fluid was leaking out) So I bought these: Monroe Sensa-Trac Load Adjusting Shock Absorbers And these: LEAF SPRING HELPERS - JCWhitney Engine I have a 5.0L V8 so it should be fine on that end. All in all, take off is a little slower but other then that it's all fine now

Thanks for the compliments guys. TMH did a great job on this build/design. I also plan on being at finals this year if they can ever figure out where/when it will be lol

New build log 2 18"s inside

Dunno why we demo'd driving, lol. I think it was just more convenient... Thanks for all the compliments guys! All we have left is to seal off around the wall, make the beauty panel, fiberglass inside the box, fiberglass some more mids in the front doors, and pretty much done lol. Here is a video of some testing we did last night before the cops crashed the party... lol
