Possible to do 6-8 Fi Audio Ssd18s in a 4th order??
Lee Carter replied to Travis Card's topic in Technical Info & How To's
Sounds like what Jonathan Price had in his tahoe, except he had 10 18's sealed. OP- JP is now running 8 18's in a 4th order bandpass. Check out his youtube channel for build pic videos. some guy in TX built it for him. So yes it is possible. here it is- skip to 6:20 for for his build pics. Alot hate on him for not building his own stuff, and being arrogant, but I met him at SBN and was by far the easiest guy to talk to there.(partly due to he doesn't compete. the guys who are competing are so busy). He'll tell you he pays to have his built, because he don't have the talent or time to build something on that level, and I respect that. -
Nice man- Tuned in for sure!

Man- what a week. Finally stopped raining last night, so I thought maybe I'd get some stuff done on the build. First I thought I'd tackle the Harness for the Singer Alt. Then I got to thinking(danger)...Mike said white wire to sense(as suggested- going to Alt terminal). Blue goes to keyed on. but suggested using a relay. Why? I mean the harness wire is TINY...how much current can it need? I am just going to wire it into a fuse in the underhood fuse panel. Any how- here is the finished harness. will get installed tomorrow- Next I decided to do a job I was avoiding. Mounting the Voltmeters. Been considering the placement for a LONG time- and just couldn't find a better spot than the H/L Switch panel. I have a cubby that is never used- so I cut it out to mount then. trimmed the top of one vm, and the bottom of the other and glued them together, then mounted them as one unit. I then epoxied them for extra hold(and to fill in any gaps.) Wiring done(I thought)- In place- wires ran. Also ran RCA;s and Remote wire for the amps though the dash while I was there. At this point I tapped the power , ground, and remote for the H/U to the top v/m...and got nothing. So I pulled them back out.(the h/l switch assy). going to test the v/m's tomorrow, to make sure they work. And go from there.

Right now front stage is going to be 2 sets of RE XXX 6.5 component sets. Poor weather has killed my momentum. S'posed to be 70% chance of rain thru thursday. I did trim out the dash bracket behind the radio. I was hoping this would clear enough room for my Knu RCA's, but it still wouldn't fit properly. But it did make it easier to route wiring. Also went to Walmart and bought some Scosche(?) interconnects, they have a shorter 'head', so the radio will fit flush. I also trimmed out the excess wiring from my integration module last night. I wasn't thinking the first time- way too much rats nest behing the radio bezel. I can also use this time to work on mounting my volt meters as well. Picked up some 3/8 ring terminals for the Alternators control and relay wiring. As well as, insulated wire holders to secure the 2/0 running under the truck, to prevent any chaffing. Dash surgery pics... Before-

Yeah I did. I am actually. going to work on dash mods tomorrow to try to get the HU in with the RCA's ran. Then wire in the 4 pin connector for the alt. Picked up a relay today for that. Then I'll let the bass hit. woot! Then on to front stage.

Yep- Great guy.

LOL at the 100 Lee Carters. I had 2 of the kinetiks up front and wired in the beginning of this thread. But when I decided to run more than 2- I just put them all in the bed. And I got the Alt bracket off a guy on F/B. Nice piece- I paid 180 for it. They were on sale- I think it is 200 now. But it is a nice kit, and they include dual 1/0 inputs for you amp.(not using mine right now though) I'll send you the guys info.

I also use WinISD, but find the WinISD and Carstereo are very close once you figure out the port area and net volume you wish to use.

Today I got the Alt grounds ran... and Power wire ran from front to back. Marking the spots to drill Holes drilled The ones you love hurt you the most.LOL As the drill popped thru the first hole- I banged my honker into the fender- bled for a few. Still sore. Ran out of black shrink wraps... Cold galvanized and rattle canned black. 2 runs of Positive tucked away- Still have to clean up and tie wrap...everything in except for fusing, and wiring the Singer up. Just enough...

Some sexy equipment in this build!

didn't do much today....but reinstalled the fuse block and hooked up the + wires from the Singer. Hope to spend a few hrs at the body shop tomorrow with their lift to run the grounds, and the 2 runs from fuse block to fuse block. Question: I have 3 runs to the frame off the battery bank for ground. And I plan to run 3 runs to the frame off the Singer in the front. Do I need to ground the body? Amp is grounded to battery bank as well. Pics- Looking good!

After chilling out yesterday- I got some work done on it today. Dual alts are installed! Took the Cande Shoppes 280A out and reintalled my stocker. then installed the Singer 350Amp. Didn't wire the 350 up yet, but being used- I was glad to hear zero bearing noise with the truck running. a few crappy cell pics. Can you spot the Singer??lol Bracket installed, mocking up the alts... belted up! Hoping to get the wiring done tomorrow...

Thanks guys...means alot to me. Haven't fooled with it today- but may go pull the alternator in a bit. It was funny at Easter that my aunts and uncles(in their 50's) were all like- I gotta hear it when you finish it. I knew my lil cousins would love it, but didn't expect them to get into it.

Thanks- running a stock alt for the truck, and a dedicated Singer 350 to the battery bank.

My First And Only Tapout In 23 Years Of Being A Basshead
Lee Carter replied to Loudizzzzle's topic in Videos
Well to be honest- his demos generally last less than a few good hits.LOL -
Been a few days- been trying to spend a few hrs a day on it. Pics are better than words right? Made a mounting pad for the fuse block- ran the short pieces to the fuse block. Got the buss bars from Ill Customz on F/B. My son took a pic of me putting the cover on the fuseblock before heading out to the family Easter BBQ. Bank all cleaned up to show off at the Family BBQ- Business end hooked up up closed- still have to tidy it up a bit. Speakers hooked up Finally I spent today doing this.... Note the hint of the next step... That wire tho! Nice of GM to put these nice pass thru's- Slow and steady. it is coming together. Ordered the proper fusing from SHCA over the weekend. Hoping to install the Dual alt kit tomorrow.

Who all's going? I was looking and the flyer last year said Sat and Sun 10am - 6PM, This year it says Sun is for industry personnel only, except for the SPL Hall. My Son and I are going as spectators. I know when we went to the Finals in Nashville we had to leave saturday- and we missed all the big demos on Sunday. Are there going to be people Demo'ing on Sunday?

Am I missing the link? LOL

Sorry guys- been gone for a bit. Went to SBN a couple weekends back, and had a blast. Alot of bad ass builds. But my laptop went on the blink the minute we got there. Finally bought a new one yesterday. Then I've had all my boys last week, while their mom had surgery done, so the truck got pushed to the back burner. Any hows- what happens when you install fuse blocks and don't run wires to them for a while? you lose some set screws. bought enough to just replace them all. Then thought I'd run some wire today...and ended up working on my oldest boys truck. He jack the light bar off the pushbar I had on my Burb...and we put it on his lil Nissan I bought him. BUT- Tomorrow we are working on mine damn it! LOL

No truer words ever spoken.

Didn't think AA/Fi would build it if it wasn't useful. I've always always assumed it had 2 voice coils in 2 gaps... but again. I don't see where it is really useful.

Oh snap I am jealous of the 6 door Suburban!

I don't know the science behind them, but dizzam they look gnarly.
