its very challenging, keeping things from flexing to avoid dips and nulls as well as buzzing and ratling, gotta go so much lower, much less cabin/room gain... keeps ya busy though!

When I only had 1 sub per tower you couldnt hear anything outside, the FR was flat to 20Hz then spiked 4dB at 15Hz, now with 2 per tower its flat to 30Hz then dips 5dB to 10Hz and its loud as hell outside and shakes my neighbors windows. I boarded up my window on his side of my house, didn't help any but he's cool about it.

I am pretty sure this is what I am going to do. My MDF is actually 97 x 49..sheesh. I'll have to butt up part of a 2nd sheet to the end of each side and top (bottom too?) for a total length of 70". I want to mount the subs side by side, at the top, and run 2x4s between them... 4 in each "corner" of the subs so 4 of the mounting screws will go through the subs and into 2x4 studs like in the towers. So I will need 21" wide off each sheet, leaving 28" pieces. I'll take those 28" pieces and make the end caps for the rear waves, that leaves over 10" clearance from the closest wall to prevent the air getting trapped/loaded into a corner. 830 cubic feet 41" x 95" x 70" port 10Hz tuning

or I can slide woofers 29.5" back so I can leave door in, leaving 19.5" for the subs to mount at the end of board 1. 4x8 is actually 49 wide. I still couldn't use it with the door shut, but I'd still have a door. What would all this accomplish by tearing the towers down? You guys would think getting space back. I suppose yes, but thats not the driving force... exactly. One, I need easier access to the spare room. Right now we have to walk up the bleechers, step up the side shelf, open the door standing on the shelf, climb down to the floor, back up, reverse process. It's a pain going in and out of the spare room several times a day. Two. Most of you know I am a post you-know-what. I crave attention, even if it has to be bad it's better than none. The towers have died, there's nothing left but to listen...well, it needs more bracing, then left alone. Three... The towers are dead! Now what do I do? The fun of it is building, posting, testing, modding...its finito! Morte! Four.. I love thinking, plotting, planning, building, realizing, modifying... the process itself. Its just what i do. I need to keep on doing it. Five: I need more low end FR! MORE! The "low" bass, "mid" bass, "high" bass all overpowers my ULF. ULF is very hard to create and easy to get burried under lesser SPLs of higher frequencies. I LOVE the ULF, like the rest, but I get way more of the rest. SIX: cuz I am KW :-P I still want desperately to try IB, so you all know full well i will design another door for the other end so I can seal it up with the BR door open and go tru IB
-
alright, I may skip the option of plugging for IB and build a hallway walk through port/manifold off the outter edge of the door frame and remove the door. The outter dimensions of the frame are 41" wide and 95" tall... perfect. I can either go 1 sheet of 4'x8' long and put ends going outward at a 90 degree to further prevent cancellation of the rear wave, or 2 sheets long doubling port length and reducing cancellation of the rear wave while tuning lower. I haven't slept yet, I had to retype all that and edit my pics. At first I thought I was leaving the door in so i could plug the port and keep a door on the spare room... then i realized if I shut the door, um, hmm... I am sealing the subs off altogether...and with it open it would obstruct the 2 subs on that side unless I move them down past the door, defeating the purpose of the long hallway in the first place to prevent rear wave cancellation I need to go to bed. this is using 2 wide for longer port length, lower tuning this is only 1 wide and blocks at the ends to reduce port length but kill more rear wave cancellation this is 2 wide, long port, door in (DOH) would have been able to open and close the door inside the halway/manifold/port this is 1 wide short port door in (DOH) 2 wide long port door gone 1 wide short port end caps for rear wave door gone sleepy time

until I sell the IB3s to get these Ill run them in this current towers red, room box yellow fr 2400 watts keeps both under Xmech... I surpass Xmax all the time doesnt bother me other than headroom...
-
heres some playing around I have done, nothing concrete
-
BTW, Xmax given is 27mm Xmech 40mm

If you are going to run IB, then it won't be an LLT... but for once I nearly like your idea. Remove the experiment and focus on the install instead. yeeeah yeeah! I saw you were the last to post, blood pressure went up, burning in my throat, I was preparing myself
-
I am vented right now, but am considering chopping the towers down and using the spare room as an IB/ experiment vented. The 8'x8' platform blocks the spare room, that never used to be a problem, but with my GF and her son moved in we need access to that room a lot now. If I chop the towers...my GF tells me I can not, backwards WAF :-P, then i can slide the platform forward 3' for easy access. I dont want to cut the towers either, they are part of the experience.... but that room, IDK
-
I boarded up one of the windows, put a handle on the spare room door with a latch and weather stripping.... that all added several dB in the single digits... next is bracing the ceiling, it flops up and down a couple inches may be tearing the towers down and using the spare room, 990 cubic feet, as an enclosure and the door way as the port :-P Will this 21" work in LLT/EBS? The $469 price for the 21 is the DR motor – which is a 7.5” triple stacked motor, very beefy. On the IB 21 – T/S are: Fs: 21 Hz Qms: 8.08 Qts: 0.67 Qes: 0.73 Mms: 419 g BL: 15.35 Vas: 372.7 L SPL: 90.5 1w/1m

Went out to work on the van this AM, when I was backing up my garbage can jumped out at me and I busted the tail light. Took some pics of all the interior parts I have and sent some emails to a few junk yards then brough some parts to a local shop...didnt get the light yet. Brought my GF to work, 3 cops pulled in to get lunch...didnt say anything. Heading home to check emails, get pulled over. Cop starts trippin on stereo. Then asks how much it all cost. I knew I was gonna get pulled over, I saw him heading strait then all a sudden jump behind me, so i pulled into a lot before he hit his lights. He said it all added up to suspision so back up came and they searched. I thought for sure K-9s were gonna jump in and scratch up my subs ( and everything else but we all know it all looks like shit anyway) then i thought they were gonna start tearing it all apart. Didn't even get a warning ticket. http://www.audiopipe.com/ I popped an amp quite a while back and have been running with one sub partially acting as a PR, making my port non functional as well. When I finally realized what the issue was... I spent lots of time, made numerous threads, vids, and posts, even sold my old subs and got different ones....I called AP. Jackie told me to look for my receipt. Sure as ****, it was one year to the day...so she said send it in. Talked to Jackie on the phone again today, she's shipping the amp out. When i called the first time, I mis-spoke as I often do. She said I blew a channel, I said no..it's a monoblock. I think it was hott as hell when the gal put me in my place and reminded me it is 2 1500's strapped internally, aka 2 channels Thank you AP! KW -
I'm still not sure what this ultimately means. Are we two weeks away, or something much greater because of unforeseen Spider and motor changes? I tried to get you to email me about it, but I haven't gotten any

Dave, it is only because I feel your pain. I took a double dose, but both were for 3 years mate. maybe this will help you though: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1329966 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1331081 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1330380 Not exactly what you are looking for, but right now you got nuthin but time to wait, may as well read, Mark at Mach 5 is considering helping out, may do some 18s, is doing 21s. Nick at IA has already built some modded 21" DPs for IB/HT, he's just next to impossible to get ahold of and a stickler about TS params. Otherwise, all I can say is wait it out... IB3s are obviousely worth it.

Anybody running Audiopipe amps?

found out one of mine has been blown, sent it in for warranty, new one ships back tomorrow... APs OK in my book -
sorry man, too late. I just got the hook up from Incriminator, 4 21" Death Penalty's modified for IB... doing 2 manifolds. I was selling my good as new IB3s for $50/ea plus shipping but a local guy just bought them all for $75/ea. The towers are coming down, salvaging the wood to make this: similar to this guys:

Thats just awesome TechSys. Yesterday after I typed up that rant I had my GF come read it, she was in stitches. I can't wait to show her your reply. Haven't smiled much in the last few days, but I am right now! -

This is not directed at any one person. This is 6 years in the making. apparently since I started a new thread for the build, as it went in a completely different direction than originally planned, i need to reitterate some things for the new people and the people that only see what they want to see. This is NOT a competition vehicle. This is NOT an SPL vehicle. Yes I have 4 18's. Yes I have a wall. Yes I have 12000 watts for the subs, 1700 watts for the 7", 650 watts for the 4.5s, and 500 watts for the tweets. BUT I am tuned to 23Hz. I have 45 cubic feet. I am using Blue Print Audio 1803s designed for home theater/home music... 8-15 cubic feet per sub, 15Hz-25Hz tunings for these in home. I started off with IB3s with 110 cubic feet and a 15Hz tune. More than halving airspace and almost doubling the octave of tuning changed everything. This is NOT a SQ vehicle. My speakers are in my ROOF! "Attention employyes, can we get a clean up in isle 5 please?" grocerie store PA system! I don't know what staging is. I don't know what imaging means. I just now started to use EQ and that was just for the subs because something was not right. A channel on one subwoofer amp blew so one sub was acting sort of like a passive radiator but not completely as it still saw some power. I made this system for ME. Not to show noobies incorrectly how to do things. So for those of you that think you need to save the noobies from making mistakes, please do so with a little respect for me. I prefer different things than everyone else. I do not like the sound of SQ systems. I like 3kHz to 14kHz attenuated, and 14kHz on up to be extra bright. as of now, I wish i could afford to quadrouple my tweeters and tweeter amp... 16 tweeters and 4 500.2s. I cant afford to. I like my 20Hz-35Hz that most people say does not exhist in music to be extremely exaggerated. If i could afford 16 RE Audio XXX 18's, new version, and 32 SAZ4500Ds, 80 batteries, and 10 alternators...I would. I can't. I used what I could afford for more displacement ( 4 18s with 3.5" excursion) and built a wall and made it a sridgid as my LIMITED talent permited to get as much gain as I could. I like 35Hz-55Hz attenuated. Most of you people, this is YOUR favorite range. bass boost is sold on 90% of amps and preset to 45Hz on 90% of those for a reason. You guys usually tune around 30Hz-45Hz for a reason. YOU like it. I DONT! I like 55Hz-200Hz LOUD. I like hard hitting snap and punch...kick. Mot 45Hz punch kick and slam. I dont care what YOU like. Build your own! I suck at cosmetics. i am a goof ball, I am a dork, I suck at most everything I do. But I have ambition, I suck it up, and I deal with it. If I won the lottery dont think i wouldnt p[ay someone that knows what they are doing... my buddy jeff... to make it pretty. Rhapsody Purple paint job so dark it looks black unless its in bright sunlight. 22" rimz with air bags. Sheep skin lining the entire inside so all you see is glass windows, black speakers, and bright white wool. I cant afford to, i dont have the patience or talent, so I go out of my way to make it look worse cuz I am fed up with everyones comments on cosmetics. Build your own. Be glad you dont have to compete with my cosmetics, my SPL, or my SQ... cuz OBVIOUSELY you ALL would win in all three. I want it loud and to sound clear when it is loud. Dont tell me it isnt loud and dont tell me it doesnt sound good. keep it to yourself. You havent sat in it. KW: the lauging stock of audio, that doesnt give a shit and only tried harder to keep pissing you off when you keep hating. This is not directed at any one person. This is 6 years in the making. -
Exodus Anarchy 4 ohm run group buy $45!!!!!&#

JUST EMAIL KEVIN AT [email protected] WITH " I WANT 4 OHM ANARCHYS!! " IN THE SUBJECT LINE AND BODY. This is an unofficial attempt to get a single run of 4 ohm Anarchys for the car audio crowd as well as those who want MTMs with 2 run in series for 8 ohms. Though I would be stupid to claim I convinced Kevin to stop making Maelstrom-X's with 8 ohm coils, I firmly believe I helped tip him in that direction. When Kevin 1st released the Anarchys he did so at an astonishing $45/ea to get MASSIVE attention to them, just as he initially released the Maelstrom-X 21's at a whopping $550/ea for a while, with several special offers along the way: free shipping, buy one Maelstrom-X 21 get two Anarchy's FREE! All it took was some emailing for some people on AVS to get a special offer for the "flat pack" offering them at a discounted $65/ea...so i figure, what have we got to lose? Flat Pack spcial offer $65/ea thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1311008 Someone else has a thread about 8 of them in 3 cubes tuned to 30Hz off 1200 RMS: http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/enclosures/71971-8-exodus-anarchy-6-5s.html#post852531 The wicked XBL^2 driver: http://www.diycable.com/main/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=538 " The Anarchy has class-leading output for a 180mm mid-woofer. The massive 25mm peak-peak xmax allows it to deliver the bass output of two typical mid-woofers of this size/format. This is achieved by an XBL motor along with a highly optimized suspension and careful design of the aerodynamic performance of the spider/pole vent assembly. The result, is a mid-woofer that is near silent in free-air under full stroke. The highly linearized suspension and motor assembly give the Anarchy world-class distortion performance " VIDEO!! " The Anarchy isn't just a high-output stroker though. It has smooth usable frequency response for easy use with most any tweeter you choose to match it with. The anodized aluminum cone has an extremely manageable break-up mode that doesn't require notch filters for good design. The T/S parameters make this mid-woofer an ideal match for 14-20L ported enclosures or small sealed designs. The resonant enclosures typically deliver good usable bandwidth to 30-40Hz when designed correctly and in-room response can reach into the high 20s " ANOTHER VIDEO!!
