Next the box will be off to be covered in bedliner. It doesn't get too wet in the back, but I'd rather play it safe. It's down firing, I have no desire to shove a kayak paddle through the cone of a $350 sub.

Flush mounting the XCON...
-
It's not a pretty install, but it's safe from the elements under the seat. ZERO noise issues.
-
I've never run rear fill in anything before, but the Bravox 5 1/4" components add a lot with the doors off around the firepit.

JBL woofers are in the stock location which is in very thick speaker pods behind the grill.
-
"Toomstone" tweet location. Had to make a zillion compromises in audio by getting a Wrangler...

HU looks stock and the integration is great, wish they put more effort into the crossover points and eq.

Yellow matches the OME shocks, trying to find paint to match Chrysler's "Rock Lobster" is nearly impossible.

Thanks, I was actually able to figure that out! I'll be showing a lot more pics (when I'm not at work, wasting tax-payer's money).

Thanks! I hated getting rid of my Challenger (divorce sucks), but I'm really loving the Jeep life.

Measuring, measuring, cutting. Paying for the box design and getting a cut sheet and detailed plans was completely worth it. Glad to have a friend with tools and wood working skills.

Okay, so I can upload images if I email pics from my phone to my email and import them smaller... now to figure out how to rotate them. SSA XCONy goodness!!!! Dual 1 vc, I don't want to upgrade my electrical other than the Big 3 (my stock alt is 160 amps) so I'll stick to 2 ohm loads. If I'm not happy about the output from the Fosgate T500 I'll upgrade to 1200-1600 watts. Might have to go Brazilian so it fits under my seat, I do NOT want to mount an amp to a box in the rear of a Jeep.

Wow, fail already... it seems all my iPhone pics are larger than the 1.31MB allowed...

Just got a subwoofer, Rockford Fosgate P1-1X12, ported, how to tune it?

When I first started getting back into car audio a few years ago I learned a LOT from this site, the guys here are very knowledgeable and very helpful. In order to learn more of the basics I found www.bcae1.com Give it a shot, you can learn much. -
Is changing passive crossover same as changing headunit EQ?

I'm going to suggest any/all car audio work you do is NOT at your apartment complex, people will jack your shit. Find a friend with a house that lives several miles away (hopefully they have some tools) and do it at their house. -
Loud hissing sound when no music being played, is this normal?
SS Teacher replied to Florida_Audio's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You paid them for a competent install not a half assed job. They most certainly shouldn't charge you any money at all because they never did the job right in the first place. I know you're scared, we all were at one point, but honestly, you CAN do this... -
Cheapest subwoofer for some clear bass, nothing too big?
SS Teacher replied to Florida_Audio's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Powering a DCON with 300 watts RMS would be just fine. In fact, you wouldn't be able to hear the difference between 300 and 400 watts. -
Please help me understand t/s parameters and making a good choice

For starters I've spent dozens of hours but it's just beyond my feeble abilities. Current set-up: Jeep Wrangler (possibly the worst platform for good sounding mobile audio), Rosen HU (it has front, rear, and sub RCA outputs), Zed Mikro IV pushing JBL power series 6 1/2" components in factory locations up front and bridged rear to power a Kenwood 10 in a sealed box. The HU powers Bravox 5 1/4" components in the role bar. Those JBLs scream and I need them to, I frequently drive with the doors off and top down. Yes, I know they're harsh, but they fit my budget and the performance matches the compromises I'm willing to make. The problem is the output of the 10" can not keep up with the front stage. i acquired a Rockford Fosgate T-500 db on Offer Up for $120 and I'm so terribly indecisive about which subwoofer/enclosure combo will "keep up with" the output of the front stage. My first thought was a pair of DCON 10's in a ported box, but they are unavailable in the SSA store. I looked at Soundqued HDS210 but they have low xmax and low sensitivity., can they possibly get loud? A pair of tens are the better choice due to box height constraints, but I could get a 12" as long as the box height is under 13". But that's the other concern...a GOOD enclosure. I'm willing to spend $200, but don't trust any of the local shops or know of any good ones in the Tampa, Fl area. Khaotic enclosures look amazing, but their dimensions aren't optimal for my cargo area and often they're not a good match air space wise with many SSA subs (which would be my first choice). -

I've got a stock 160 amp alternator and just want to do the Big 3 and call it good. I'd really prefer to run my amps at 2 ohm. I'm old school, I remember the days of 4 Ohm sub loads :), this 1 ohm stuff scares me. -

Just placed my order for an enclosure design (ported box) and a dual 1 ohm Xcon 10' sub-woofer, FTW!!!! -

"Ported Xcon ftw." who I ask, could refute the irrefutable? -

It's in the back of a Jeep Wrangler, a bandpass covered in bedliner would be virtually weatherproof. I didn't have terribly high hopes, looks like I'm going with the 12" XCON in a ported box! -

Alright, I'm sold! (litteraly) I'm going with the XCON. I'll power it with the Rockford Fosgate T-500 db, if I want more volume later I can just replace that with a T-1500. I'm going to order a box design and get my buddy to help me make it out of 1" birch. We'll spend some time on BCAE1.com, they have great box building tips. Now for the question... Can SSA design a bandpass enclosure that yields a flat frequency response from about 35 to 85 HZ. I know prefab bandpass boxes are total crap, but if I can get a good response curve and output I would love to make the box and cover it in bedliner and never have to worry about it. If the XCON does not play well in a bandpass, I'll get the ported and good speaker grills.
