Product Brand & Model: 2 of a kind Linear Power 1002's. Completely custom, read additional info at the end of post. Condition of all items: Look at the detailed pictures. Total Price: : $475 Shipping Terms: : I pay to lower 48. Pictures: Additional info: The 1002s are very special amps. Modded for 4 and 8 ohm stereo only. >100wpc rms @ 8ohms. Less than 25 hours of use after rebuild 8 years ago by Ray. Hand built, tweaked and modded by one of the LP techs (named Steve, Ray knows more) for his personal car years ago, just to run the front stage. A lot of hand-wiring throughout. Special resistors, big transformer for higher voltage/output. Bigger caps, special relays for the turn-on/off pop elimination, a special power supply that requires custom plexiglass bottoms, etc. Terminal blocks are custom, like the 8002SW. New RCAs. just about everything is custom to create a lot of output in a small package with very limited distortion (lower than normal). Oh, yes, these are special. Dynamite stereo performance in a small package. Got >$300 in the mods alone.

As far as tech specifics, i wrote down all i know of the amps. For comparisons, i can't think of anything that is even close that has similar clean power in a comparable package. The more I think about it, the more I begin to reconsider even trying to sell them. I may not be using them now, but I'm sure i could down the road.

That link is misleading. Like i said, only the heatsink is the same between a stock 1002 and these.

I have never benched them but they will definitely get the Milles moving and sound fantastic doing it. I tested them on 8ohm midbasses and i did not feel like I was giving anything up to my old 2.2HV. It's crazy to hear what these can do, and then expecting to see something much much bigger when you check the trunk. Specs can be found here ... http://www.linearpower.com/detail/1002.html The similarities between a stock 1002 and these end at the heatsink size.

I don't have the original bottom plates, the transformer wouldn't fit anyways.

well i didnt read the whole thread but i'd like to see an efficient driver over tons of power handling (85-87db/1w/1m seems realistic for an 8), small vas is a must, but unlike the rest of you're maw line i'd much prefer a higher Qts for some better low end sensitivity (which you'll defintely need considering the Sd). i normally don't pay much mind to xmax but i think it'll be important to squeeze as much as possible out of this driver. i think Ascendants assassin 8 is a pretty good example of all this, or something like you're current 6.5's but on super steroids.

pfff hand them over, didnt realize you were the one who bought them. anyways, if/when you're ready to part with them i'd like to play around with them. otherwise i cant wait til AA is back and i can get some new polys myself. also, i forget where i read you guys were adding a heavier copper faraday ring to bring inductance down a bit, but have you considered looking into new surrounds? there was a klippel test done on the poly's that showed that was actually the biggest culprit for distortion. all around the drivers tested great with well centered and symetrical BL and Le curves but with slightly offset Cms curve. might be another cheap and simple way to really improve the already great performance.

scott/chad: i know i read on another thread you would be bringing the mids back a little later on with some minor changes. have you given any thought to different cone materials like the planned CF mid? i'm especially interested in a metal cone with your motor, something to compete with the dayton rs for the price and even detail/distortion kings like seas excel/lotus. i know there is a good following for the mids but man i can really see some metal cone AA's doing REALLY REALLY well, i know quite a few that would pee their pants at the thought. how about different sizes, perhaps a strong 8" or some smaller midranges?

Sealed 2.5 cubes for 15" D2 work for SQ aetup?
kappa546 replied to alann's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
i ran my 15" in 3 cubes sealed and it was fantastic. smooth, tight and hit so low. -
i had my old mag 15" v.1 in 3 cubes sealed very well braced and thats probably the substage i miss the most. just ridiculous

most of my favorites have been covered but what about some beyond audio inhumans and perhaps 1st gen Magnum D2 15". another vote for mtx BG's and AA atlas. -
new mags ehh... cool

utter shock and disbelief... i dont understand how this could happen. we're not letting SI go down. nick if theres anything u need dont hesitate to ask... im seriously willing to drop every little thing i have and help u guys rebuild if necessary. im all for taking justice into our own hands if we find the dirty fudges who did this...

i may not have understood correctly but the kodas play much lower than that... your describing a strictly midrange speaker there, and the koda is far from it. i also wouldnt recommend tryin to play the D2 up to 200hz. not sure if it can or not, but that would make for very awkward listening.

they are either talkin about the box for 12" or sealed box for the 15". i say stay sealed (2.5cf or so is nice). these things are so loud, i dont think i could handle it ported.

hmm... i think ill build it tomorrow. i have to make a selaed box for the oz audio ME 12 i just bought to test out anyways. might as well make two.

i loved how it performed off the rear channels of the tru 4.65 and was excited about the potential. i finally get around to giving it enough power (1000-1100w off US Amps 300X) and im just not that impressed with the lows. everything else plays like a dream and the sub/amp combo is insanely clean. its sitting in a 2cf right now and im wondering if polyfill will do the trick (and if so how much?) or if i should just make another box. i hear people favoring 2.5cf or so... what do you guys think? i wish i had a car to run it IB but i drive an xterra... ah well

i'll let you know what i do and how it turns out when i get some time to build.
