Sweet!!! yeah I have them all fused just worried about the splitter since I didn't install it myself but yes it's all fused.

that's scary.... Not sure I'd follow that ... But DMM method is a good way to be safe... I'll end at that... It's a scary method but its the only way for the OP to be able to see when his equipment is working too hard and when he needs to turn the gain down and of course I would say use discretion. Some people can read tutorials all day and not get it but when they see their subs working too hard that will be when the light bulb turns on. I've used the DMM method and I've tuned by ear and I've never blown a woofer either way.

Dude just turn the gain up until the bass doesn't get any louder... Then after you have it set play it as loud as you normally listen to it. If you've been playing your music for 5 minutes and your amp is already getting hot then turn the gain down. If its still cool or barely warm then you're fine. Just keep an eye on your equipment like you should anyway.

Me too I would get 2 12W7's. They're very good drivers and I think they get a bad rap because of their price. If you look on CL and get one used they're worth it

First I want to say I love these woofers and after trying them I don't understand why they get so much hate. I've played rock, country, jazz, rap, r&b, and blues. The subs played every note with great detail and clarity. Right now I'm running them with a Sundown Audio SAX 1200d at 1 ohm, and I'm just blown away with how loud they are and how great they sound. If these subs sound this amazing in a ported prefab box(1.25 cubic ft per sub) I can't wait until I get one built.

I always pick the wrong times to be broke I will be contacting you in a couple weeks though.

The SAX 1200d is an awesome amp and a little underrated you'll love it. I love mine

Yeah the price is WAYYYY too much and I would never pay retail for them unless I won the lottery lol

What problems were people having with the surround? Because I might try to get some for my next setup

Help with amp options
Crich03 replied to weedman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
^^ I bought a SAX 1200d from db-r and it is amazing no issues whatsoever from the amp and db-r's customer service is awesome -
Thanks for making an awesome place for us bass heads to be able to learn more about our great hobby.

I agree with that on the amps if I wanted to pay 1k for an amp I would get a SAZ 3500 or a Crescendo 5500 instead of a JL 1000/1. I would even get a RF T2500BDCP

Not a JL fan? Negative. They cool. But meh... I like trying different woofers I'm on my 8th brand of subs in 3 years lol... After I'm done with my JL phase I want to try SSA Icons then AA Havoks or mayhems. The Mayhems will be silly loud. I think so too but I have to build up my electrical in my car and add a lot of deadener to my car before I can jump at a mayhem lol

The W6 was way louder than I thought is was going to be, and with the detail it sounds like a concert in my car now. They have a new fan/nuthugger lol

Never mind I forgot you don't build boxes anymore

Their pricing is one issue, but the main reason is their popularity. For quite some time, MANY people ran them and considered them the best. They quickly grew from a small company to one of, if not the best sub manufacturer in the industry. The W7 is still in a class of it's own. There are comparable products, but very few on the same level as the W7. JL has ALWAYS been a B&M company and they have worked very hard to protect their products and their dealers. Nothing holds it's value like a JL product. I can't wait till I try the W7. As many as I see for $300 and $350 on CL I might have to grab 2 12's and put them to use lol

I have the W6V2's

I had a Fi BL 15. I traded it through Craigslist to get the W6's the BL isnt a very good choice for jazz anyway Id like to get my hands on some of them w6's as well Yeah after buying it I wished I would've bought the Q. Don't get me wrong the BL is an amazing driver and was stupid loud, but it doesn't really have the clarity of the W6 Definitely not meant to be a sound quality driver, but it performs great for me, which is slammin lows and pounding double bass Looks like you made a good trade through I really couldn't believe that someone was trading me 2 W6's for just 1 Fi BL lol
-
I agree with you. I didn't realize how long each iteration of their W6 and W7 line last. The W6V2 released in like 2004 and the W7 has been out for 10 years and the technology they use is still relevant. They have a new fan.
-
Hopefully I can get my hands on some W7's so I can hear those too.
